Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!  I may be the only one that loves this card, but it has such a lovely vintage feel to it, it just appeals to me.  I thought I would offer it up for the giveaway to see if anyone else likes it as much as I do!  Leave me a comment if it is up your alley and I will draw the winner and announce it on Saturday's blog post.  I started by stamping the Florentine Background (by John Lockwood) in black on milk card.  I cut it to the edge of the lines, then ink it lightly with both Antique Linen and Tattered Rose distress inks.  I coloured the ivy corners with Distress markers.  I matted it on milk card and added a gold edge with a paint pen.  I stamped the image again and cut out the larger ivy in both corners, coloured it and mounted up for dimension.  I splattered the background with the gold paint pen to add a bit of a vintage distressed look to it.  For the focal element, I cut three of the Silent Night die in vintage gold card and glued them together.  I inked them with Clear Perfect medium pad and coated them with clear embossing powder.  I heated it until it melted and repeated the step one more time.  This is a great technique that Julia Watts turned me on to which adds a beautiful shine to your sentiments!  I cut one more Silent Night in black and added it below slightly offset as a shadow and glued it in the centre of my background.  I completed the card with a pierced milk mat, a thin gold and black mat and another milk mat.   The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue, and all Wilsonettes. Pam thank you for your wishes, I just had the blue dye put through my aorta yesterday, now waiting to hear from the surgeon as to what will happen next, but again thank you for you wishes.

Well todays card I love, I did one very similar but did not use the ivy on mine, or make it vintage, just had lots of bling, but I certainly did not do the 'Julia Wattt's Technique' so that is something I am going to have to try. The Silent Night die was the first one I ordered from that festive 2015 collection and I love it along side the angel one.

Good luck to the winner.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Morning Sue. You must be able to read my mind as i have just received this stamp yesterday and now you have posted a beautiful card to give me an idea of how to use it. The reason i got this stamp is i have an e/b folder with the musical notes on and i thought it would be a perfect match for the stamp. The card is beautiful and yes it does have a vintage look to it but to be honest i think we should all try something a little different now and again just to see how we enjoy doing something outside our comfort zone.
Take care everyone.
Best Wishes.

Hi Sue
No you aren't the only one who loves this card. It is a stunner. Striking and opulent and if you would like to send it to me I am more than happy to accept it and give it a good home. After all I feel that Lorraine is feeling rather superior and triumphant in her battle to knock me off the top favourite hot spot at present and I think she needs a reality check. Lol. But seriously I know that who ever is the winner of this work of art would be more than justified to gloat as it is so beautiful x
I am feeling a little smug today as my mission to change MIL's appointment was successful. It was hard work and to begin with I eventually managed to get through to someone who was obviously having a bad day and her mantra seemed to be that she was going to be very unhelpful and as awkward as possible just because she could!! After my charm and being the nicest person in the world who would not allow anything to upset me no matter how unwavering and obstinate the recipient of my phone call was proving to be, I succeeded to achieve what I had set out to do. So we went from being told that there was no way on this earth that there were any appointments this side of Christmas and the earliest would be 11th January to my MIL having her pre-op as we speak an her procedure scheduled for Monday. I am a genius - even if I say so myself. It has really made life easier as she has now got a little longer to recuperate so that Christmas will hopefully be more enjoyable for all of us. I have to say after being such an expert negotiator I was exhausted x
JUNE - lots of love x
MELODY - lots of love to you x
THERESA W - hope you are feeling better x
LAINE - you were a tear away at their age???!!! I don't think that much has changed. I have to say I have a theory about worrying. I used to be terrible when the boys went anywhere. I have learnt that it wasted too much time and far too much energy to fret about things that would be the same and would not change by my being apprehensive and miserable for the entire duration of the boys absence. That is not to say I don't give a toss about their safety I am not that terrible. I just think that it is what it is and what will be will be. I am embracing the situation and going to take full advantage of my independence and peace!! I do however live in the real world and your idea that sex and drugs will be the last thing on their mind is possibly wishful thinking x
Hope you and Gill have a good Sue session getting into the festive mood with tasteless Christmas music x
MARIA - you are more than welcome any time hun. I will point you in the direction of the teabags and kettle - you make your own tea in this house. I like everyone to make themselves at home so don't expect waitress service will you - when should I expect you x
MYRA - please please please tell us Saba's secret x
WHEELY BAD - nice to 'see you'. Fatigue - yeh that sounds familiar - hugs x
LORRAINE F - oh my goodness - you would be a welcome addition to the gang. A bit of moral support for me as I am sure you have realised what a bad influence Laine is. She is obviously a force to be reckoned with and an expert at leading young and innocent individuals like you and I astray. Hope your roast was lovely - lovely hubby. Huggles x
P IN WALES - I think we are creatively cluttered - a much more pleasant term than messy x
JAN - fun you say - who for. Thelma and Louise or those we leave behind in our trail of devastation x
TRACY - hope you are ok - love and hugs x
Off to wallow in my own self importance of being a first class arbitrator. Have a lovely day - I do believe I spotted some sunshine outside.

I absolutely love this card, Sue. I NEED the stamp and dies. I've finished my Christmas cards for this year using, of course, your wonderful dies - but will start earlier next year. I used Diamond Sprinkles, which I've fallen in love with.

Thank you so much for all your inspiration, Sue.

Take care, everyone, and keep warm and safe.

Hi Sue,
Never thought to use this color green in a Xmas card but it works. Fabulous!!

Love the Victorian distressed look to this card; esp. like the musical paper behind it. The "Silent Night" sentiment is effect on this card.

Hi Sue, I can't imagine why you thought you may be the only one to love this card, the previous comments show how wrong you were and I absolutely love it. The vintage feel along with the lovely stamp and dies all add up to a gorgeous card.

Yvonne - well done on getting your MIL's appointment changed, your practise at currying favour with Sue has obviously paid dividends :)

Tracy - sorry you didn't get your line in, it's a nuisance but not the end of the earth. Perhaps you should drink more Irn Bru to get your bloods up, after all, it is made from girders lol

What's not to like....I love the colour scheme and the sheet music background works really well with the Silent Night die. I would really love to receive this in a draw anyday!!

Lisbeth said...

Hi Sue. I like this card. I am always looking for new ideas to use sheet music in cards because the 2 boys next door are very into music, singing and opera and they really appreciate the cards that I make for them on a music theme. I would say that this card is very helpful in designing those difficult cards for the men in our lives.
Thank you

Lisbeth

Hi Sue,
Your definitely not the only one who loves this card, I love it the vintage look really appeals to me. John's stamp is lovely I might have to add it to my need list.

Lorraine E - wow!! So Brodie is a cat, how funny (not for you) that he runs off with your crafty stash. I'm sorry but will have to settle for hearing about Brodie's antics from you as I couldn't possibly part with my fur babies. They are extremely hard work but I had them before I became really bad and I love them dearly so couldn't part with them. Your right though they would be absolutely terrified if Brodie came to live here lol!!

Yvonne I'm well impressed with your negotiation skills, you are a genius!! I hope you can all now have a wonderful care free Christmas.

Tracy I have everything crossed that your able to get the line on Monday.

Hugs
Linda xx

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a refreshing change from your usual clean, elegant creations- not that this isn't elegant, just more vintage, Victoriana and distressed, I love it when you release your inner grunge.
The background stamp is striking and can be adapted for many occasions, not just for Christmas. Ingenious idea to emboss the main die to create a glazed effect, I'll definitely be trying out that technique, just need some clear embossing powder and I'll be good to go.
Whoever wins this stunner is in for a real treat, good luck everyone, may the best Wilsonette win:-)
I've had a quite a favourable day, found out this morning that the results of my surgery were positive- it was basal cell carcinoma and non malignant so roll on the next round of treatment in January, I look like a patchwork quilt though:-)
Gill popped round as planned armed with cosmic shimmer glue and a guillotine and we set to work creating crude examples of Sues masterpieces accompanied by cheesy Christmas tunes. We were suitably industrious and I managed to finish off two cards and create another into the bargain all the while tutoring Gill...yes, I amaze myself sometimes too:-)
Brodies attempts at interference were met with disdain from Gill...she hates cats with a passion!...so I pushed his bum to move him off the table but he dug his heels in and refused to move- it turns out he was enjoying the experience so much that he sprayed a tiny bit on Gills freshly cut paper!??! Suffice to say that Gill was rather aghast, I meanwhile , wet myself with mirth:-)
I've been rather distracted writing this, a supervet has been on the tv performing miraculous feats on seriously ill animals. Normally I can't watch these programmes in case an animal dies but luckily they all survived so I am a happy bunny. It featured a cat who had been poisoned by antifreeze and it was in danger of liver and renal failure. The treatment was to give her intravenous vodka every four hours to flush the toxins from her system, the poor little thing was off her face but it worked...wonder if she wanted a kebab during the process:-), apologies, that's a sick joke. It's my worse nightmare that something happens to my babies, my heart goes out to the owners, I'd rather be sick myself than watch my four paws suffer:-(
Sylvia, congrats on reaching the end of your treatment, and I wish you all the best for the future, well done on kicking cancers butt!
Linda, don't worry, I couldn't part with Brodie, he's my baby even if he's a little terror at times. You're right having animals can be a handful but they're worth the effort- I'd say it was easier to look after cats but I'd be lying, they can be super demanding and love going for walks as much as any dog.
Yvonne, I love your attitude, ignorance is bliss after all. I'd have sent my Mum prematurely grey if she'd had the smallest inkling of what I got up to as a student, you enjoy the peace and quiet and recharge your batteries for Christmas. Well done you, with negotiating skills like that the UN will be calling...what a relief to get the procedures done so swiftly though, less time to ruminate and worry and more time to recover before Christmas...did you offer your white chocolate fudge as a bribe? Young and innocent is not a description that would immediately spring to mind when I think of you dear, we both know who the disruptive influence here is , can you in all good conscience be responsible for leading another innocent down the path of destruction? Poor Lorraine F doesn't realise that she's on a slippery slope.
Lorraine F, seriously, think twice, I used to be a sweet, innocent, law abiding citizen before I got immersed in the seedy world inhabited by Louise, you've seen the movie so you do the maths honey, it can never end well and you have more than enough to cope with right now:-) hope you've had a better day
Hugs to all

Ps. Sorry to hear about your line Tracy, hopefully your bloods will improve in time for another shot on Monday. Your right, travelling to Glasgow will be a draining experience but if anyone can do it you can, you are going to show the big c whose boss!:-)
Saba, you're a girl after my own heart, handbags and shoes are a real weakness of mine too- why seek treatment for something that creates such a warm glow, I can think of worse disorders:-) I'm intrigued, what are these secrets that Myra is concealing and would she have to kill me if I found them out?

Hi Sue

Liking the dimension on the Silent Night focal element & must try that technique with the double heat embossing & the background is beautiful too as all John's stamps are.
