Hi crafters! Today's video card is a sympathy card, which unfortunately we all need to do from time to time. They can be very difficult to do sometimes, but I think the serenity of this card makes it a perfect choice for those difficult cards.
John Lockwood has shows on Hochanda today at 9am, 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm. Don't forget to tune in to see his fabulous demos!
The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue
You are right, it is always difficult to make a sympathy card.
Your card is beautiful though.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes - yes unfortunately we all have to make these cards at some time and this one is so serine and peaceful, I saw the video on this when it first came out and had to have the dies to do it, I love the way you do the Moon, lovely little technique.
Saw John's show last night, and am loving the stamps, I even got a mention on the telly so was dead chuffed.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue,
Yes very hard to make appropriate cards for this occasion but your one is beautiful. Yvonne xx
Hi Sue,
Good card for the occassion. You could change the sentiment and use it for other occasions though. Maybe Get Well? Itis really nice though whatever the reason to send it.
Anne M xx
Morning Sue. I watched you make this card a couple of weeks ago and the background is stunning. The colours are just right. Sadly we do have to make these kind of cards and this is a beautiful example of what you can do if you know the techniques. Thanks for the video.
Take care everyone.
Best Wishes.

Have a great day everyone.

GM Sue. Lovely for those difficult cards as you say. Will watch video later.
Perfect for the occasion, Sue, always admire your use of inks and wish I could achieve as good a result - not too clever at the arty bits!
cr@fty Heather T - so sorry you've had a tough time too, onwards and upwards hey?
Someone asked about Steph, from what she posted think she's decamped to Facebook. Has anyone any news of Janet (Ecco, Sheffield)? who also hasn't been on for a while. So may regulars gone AWOL, something Sue once touchingly wrote about. Great to see Lindsay back again - how are the horses?
Hugs to all poorly pals.

Good morning Sue today's card is gorgeous I love the design. It is just right for a sympathy card. Have a great day today. Hugs Jackie
Good morning Sue
What a fabulous sympathy card but with a different sentiment I can see a 'Thinking of you' and maybe a 'Get well soon' card instead. The smoothies are THE BEST blending tool in my opinion, I particularly love the mini ones,
Thank you 'P' in Wales I'm getting there slowly but surely X. I wondered why we hadn't heard from Steph I wonder why she's decamped because I know she's a massive 'Sue' fan I miss her comments. I'm afraid everyone is stuck with me I will always support this blog.

Hi Sue,
A very serene card that is perfect for a sympathy card. I know I always struggle with these cards and it does seem as though I've had to make a few lately unfortunately. I will certainly bear this one in mind for the future.

Hi Sue
What a lovely sympathy card but could also be a nice get well card too.
I must admit I just buy sympathy cards when I need them as I never know how to
design one and lack the confidence to make one in case I cause offence.
All my cards are usually birthdays and general occasions apart from wedding
congratulations as I don't have the right supplies for that either. x
Very appropriate for a sympathy card. I must admit that I can never bring myself to make a sympathy card though. Debra x
Such a peaceful card Sue. Like everyone else, I hate making these cards, I can never think of any suitable ideas unless it's to return to the usual cross, but I'm fed up with that. Thanks Sue. :)

Hi Sue - this card is so beautiful. I can never bring myself to make sympathy cards and usually buy them, but this card is so serene it could be used for other occasions too. I love these catkin dies and use them a lot so I will definitely be trying this technique. Best wishes
YvonneMayxx
A technique I struggle with and you have made it look so easy, will definitely try your method for my next card, thank you so much Sue.....the card is really apt for the occasion, as you say not an easy card to make, but this is so adaptable.....luv Ursula xx
These are never easy for anyone and I think the peace and "serenity" as you say is so very lovely. We all have to do some of these at some time or another and unfortunately I've had to do a little more than most. I think this card is beautiful in its own right and your have succeeded in making it something really special.
So Sue, a very personal big thank you!
that is one awesome sympathy card. i do love inkiness. so apt for the occassion, hugs xx
Hi Sue, a beautiful card. Very suitable for a sympathy card. Thank you for your video.
Hi Sue
Beautiful card and can be adapted to be more subtle if people don't like the colours - would also work in grey tones if you prefer a more sombre look. Thank you for sharing the idea with us. I'm usually one to buy a sympathy card as I want to get it sent quickly once I've heard but it has to get simple and not gushy!
Take care

Hi, Sue,
What a beautiful card for a sad occasion. I lost my last remaining uncle a few weeks ago after he had been living with cancer for 18 years. I was at a total loss and had no idea what kind of card I could make to send to my cousin. This would have been ideal. I'm off to watch the video now and see just what I would need to be able to make this when the next time arises.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh, my...such a pretty card and really versatile by changing out the word dies. Today's card looks like a Florida scene/setting.
I try to have sympathy cards made and on hand for those terrible times I need to send one. It's difficult for me to be creative when I'm sad...at my age, it seems I need these cards as well as "Get Well Soon" cards more and more often.
You definitely design your die sets with the end user in mind...right/left orientation considerations, more than just one die of a type like foliage and this catkin so you don't have to make so many passes to get enough die cuts, outline dies for making a solid backing for those intricate dies....you seem to think of everything. Do you beta test your designs?
I think you are a genius!!! Have a great day!!!
Jan D., Florida, USA
Very pretty a serene cars Sue. I love the colours. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Sue. Lovely sympathy card xx
Hello Sue.
Such a lovely Card, with a colour and sentiment change it could be for any occasion. Thanks for sharing.

Like this card - an appropriate card for this situation.
Hi Sue
Beautiful card, I'm not very good at inky things though the smoothies do make blending so much easier so like JJ I use your striplets when making sympathy cards
Have missed Steph and Janet too, come back soon
Tracy good luck with the chemo today, at least having the picc line now might make things easier for you
Hugs and best wishes everyone
Pat
Hi Sue, a beautiful card for a sad occasion. I love the way you have done the inking and I know I have said it before, but I must get those catkins.
Carole - glad you managed to have a good birthday.
Tracy - pleased you got your line in and hope today's chemo goes ok.
'P' in Wales - thanks for letting us know about Steph. I know there is a FB group for Sue but as I am seldom on there I prefer to stay here.
Hope everyone affected is managing to get dried out.

Hi Sue
Lovely card today, even though these aren't the cards we want to make. Beautiful sentiment and picture.
Lovely card for a sad occasion. Hugs E xx
Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!
What a fabulously calm and serene ensemble, and totally appropriate for a sombre occasion as well as being very adaptable depending on the chosen sentiment. I love the setting and the rich colour tones, like a beautiful Carribean sunset with the midnight blue water shimmering below- the dark catkins provide a stunning contrast in the foreground too.
I haven't had a minute today to enjoy this demo, will definitely treat myself to some me time later on though:-)
I am getting increasingly excited about this weekends shows, even cleared some extra space on my sky+ box in anticipation:-), I've had a sneaky peek on the CE website at the products on show and that has only served to raise my levels of expectation and excitement off the scale! Wishing you a safe flight Sue back to Blighty, be sure to pack some thermal underwear, a pair of wellies and a cagool because Florida we ain't!:-)
Had a busy day today, didn't finish off my cards as planned, decided to visit my friend Monique instead- she has a Shitzuh puppy called Lulu who got so excited she piddled all over the floor:-)....I tend to have that effect on animals and the elderly, and occasionally small children:-) I have to admit that I am more of a cat person though....
My mum has just called me to tell me that my Uncle who she visited recently has just died this evening, we are in a state of shock even though he has been very Ill since September- it makes today's card all the more poignant for me, I have never done a sympathy card and to do one under these circumstances is heartbreaking. I apologise for cutting my comment so short and rather abruptly but my head is spinning and I feel a bit numb.
Huge hugs to my blog buddies and those in need of a comforting cuddle

I love the colors and really enjoy the scene. This could be used for any type of card, but definitley makes a beautiful sympathy card.
Hi Sue
Sympathy cards are never easy, I find the ones in the shops are more aimed at older people which sadly isn't always the case. It's nice to have ideas for them that are different. I also agree with some posters that with a change of sentiment it'd be good for a get well or a thinking of you card.
It's Friday soon... hooray!!! Thouh Laine is right, wrap up warm!
Tracy, glad the line is in, hope you're feeling ok after your chemo. Thank you, I'm relieved he's ok and I'll talk to him tomorrow so I will find out how the house is. Many, many hugs xxx
