Friday Two-Fer Day

Hi guys!  I have had an idea for a new weekly  feature (be afraid, be very afraid! LOL)  I still have soooooo many Christmas cards to show that I thought I would make every Friday from now until Christmas, two-fer day!  Two cards "fer" the price of one (the price being your valuable time to visit my blog).  That is not to say that there won't be the odd Christmas card here and there during the week and on some of the videos, because there will be.  However, if you are looking for Christmas card ideas, Friday will be your bounty day!  This first card always makes me smile.  If you saw my shows in Oct., you have heard the story about putting this card together, and in my haste, the sentiment was upside down!  Ordinarily with a circle, I would have left it (and turned the card), but the flowers and bow just looked too top heavy so I fixed it!  I started by cutting a circle aperture in milk card.  I embossed the with the Garden Lattice embossibility once cut.  I cut another slightly smaller aperture that I inked with Victorian Velvet distress ink and glued it so it showed through the first opening.  Using the Christmas Poinsettia stamp from Heartfelt Creations, I stamped it with a clear perfect medium pad and heat embossed it with gold detail powder.  I used the Sun Kissed Fleur die and cut the flowers out (I did two lots of these) and then inked them with Victorian Velvet while still in the die.  I removed them from the die and edged them with Spun Sugar for a softer pink.  I shaped them with a foam mat and stylus and then glued them together, offsetting each pair.  A cream flatback pearl was set in each of the centres.  I tied a messy bow from the Rose Petal seam binding.  I glued it in the corner of my background.  I added a natural jute bow, then layered up the poinsettias around the circle aperture.  I stamped my sentiment and embossed it with gold powder.  I centred the aperture opening so the sentiment showed through properly (finally!) and taped my card together.  I finished it with some gold pigment ink swiped around the edges, a few pearl swirls and then added my double pierced mats to complete it.  Finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" in size.  Scroll on down for card no. 2.

The second card today is a more whimsical, modern style.  Hopefully between the two, there will be something to appeal to everyone.  I have to admit that I just love the Justrite Festive Poinsettia set used with this one.  The moment I laid eyes on it, it just sang to me!  I started with the background here and picked our new Rich Green card.  I used the Chevron mask and taped it in place.  I sponged the flake and glitter glue through the mask carefully.  Once completed, I removed the mask and poured the Hunter Green polished silk glitter over the top.  I used my finger to burnish it to the pattern and tapped off the excess.  I really like the tone on tone look from this.  I used the Couture Creations Wild Poinsettia embossing folder for the lower portion of the card, embossing it on coconut white card.  I taped the two pieces together and stamped my poinsettias.  I used a clear perfect medium pad and stamped the Festive Poinsettia on Ruby Red card.  I stamped several of each sizes.  I heat embossed them with white detail powder and cut them out with the matching poinsettia dies.  I stamped the leaves on the green card and clear embossed them, then cut them out.  I layered up the flowers, offsetting them and adding pearl centres.  I stamped my sentiment using a black Archival ink pad and cut it into a strip with a forked end.  I matted it with red card and attached it across the card, covering the seam in the background.  I glued the flowers over the end of the strip as my floral accent.  The card was completed with a double white mat with a pierced inner layer for a fresh, modern look.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed this weeks Christmas two-fer!  Another video for you tomorrow and don't forget to check if your name was drawn in the card giveaway too!  All for now, Sue x

You just know how to spoil your Wilsonettes don't you - not only a beautiful end to the week but also a 'two fer' day as well.
Both of today's gifts are beautiful but in my book the first is the winner - I suppose I'm just too much of a traditionalist where C.cards are concerned. I love both the colour schemes and I really must buy the poinsettia die they are so gorgeous.

Nice idea for the two-fers, Sue, then I realised today IS Friday. Was so taken with the first card didn't realise it was for Christmas. Doh!!
My sort of card, fab colours. Like the modern look of the poinsettia card, too.

Good morning Sue,
Your first card is the one for me with all its elegance and tit bits. Sorry the green one just starts of a sore head and makes my eyes go funny.
The gold around the edges of number one makes it look like you have punched out around the edges so gives it a whole different look. I love the colours that you have used on the poinsettia flowers as they look almost real as i have seen these flowers these colours before.
Well that's my essay writing done for another day sorry, but i feel that you go to such hard work and i for one really appreciate the time you take on our behalf, as i sure does so many others that visit your blog. See you tomorrow for the next exciting installment.

Morning Sue and all you Wilsonettes. Happy Friday and by gum will Fridays be a day to look forward to - TWO cards from Mrs W wow ! : ) my favourite is card 1 only because I prefer lighter colours. Now Pam, its rest day for you, time for feet up and watch all Mrs W's tutorials, with a regular prescription of long hot latte's and chocolates one side and maybe die cut pointsetta leaves the other building them up on your laptray. Whatever you plan to do enjoy and look after that poorly ankle. The Wilsonettes are thinking of you Pam (just take more water with it next time gal : ) or were you drunk on Spellbinders 2013 ? A good year so I've heard. Sit tight with your Just Right and make some Spellbinding projects.
Good luck to all Wilsonettes for Sue's Saturday draw.

Hi Sue. WOW !! Such gorgeous cards !! I just can't believe you are going to make Friday a two cards day!! A truly fantastic idea Sue !! We are all so lucky that you share so much with us and do so much for us on a daily basis. Your blog is just the best blog ever.
Today's cards are both amazing. I love the first card using heartfelt creations dies and stamps. I love the scroll sentiment Joy. I am not so keen on the heartfelt creations poinsettia dies as they look much more like regular flowers rather than poinsettias. I still think however that they are beautiful in their own right. I really love the colours and softness of this card. Beautiful. I really love the second card too. One of my favourite Christmas die sets are the spellbinders poinsettias. They are just gorgeous and I think they are the best poinsettia dies. The matching stamps are true genius !! So very beautiful. I love the chevron mask (although I do not have it.) but this green looks quite dark on this card. Maybe I might have gone with red instead or a lighter green. Other than that another beautiful card Sue. I just don't know how you do it all !! The second card is quite masculine looking.
I hope you get well soon Pam. Not the same without you at the top.
Happy crafty weekend to all. Lots of love Tres x x x

I think the glittery chevrons are really striking and the poinsettias really pretty. The second one would be especially good for a male themed Christmas card.

Hello Sue

You are spoiling us. great idea for Friday's. thank you

Love the first card - the second one I like the style it's just that I am not the biggest lover of green - would be very classy if done all in red I think.

Hello Sue. You spoil us rotten. Both these cards are delicious and yet number 2 has the edge for me. I wonder if it's the simplicity and the tone on tone. Whatever, it's simply lovely. xx Maggie (better without a bow you see).

Hi Sue
I adore the first card it just sings out to me and the colours are so different for Christmas. At fist glance wasn't,t so keen but after reading the description and looking at all the piccies, I changed my mind. It is so striking. I love the idea of twofer but that's cause I,m greedy lol. Have a great weekend everyone.

Just returning from two days at the NEC and whilst hubby is driving I thought I would check out today's masterpiece. You would have thought I would have had enough but I needed my Sue Wilson fix for the day! Love both cards but especially the tones of the first card.

Hi Sue

Both cards are stunning, I like them both for their different designs, one being a very pretty Christmas card and the other being in a traditional colour combo.

Like Mrs B, I missed Pam's comment today. Hope you are ok. It seems strange not seeing you as the first comment of the day.

Kind regards :-)

What a treat for Friday! The first is my favourite as I love the vintage Joy script. As you say the second is quite modern, but still effective. Love the forked sentiment.

Wow two very different but yet both quite striking cards the first could be used for any time of year and love the daisy style flowers and the second almost has a retro feel thanks for the inspiration as despite having many Christmas cards to make I have to confess I am not yet in the Christmas card making mood but with your inspiration I may get there before its too late.
