Friends Forever

Hello my crafty friends!  I am still floating on air from the incredible response to Saturday's blog post!  Thank you so much to those of you that have been dropping in for some time now as well as all the new names and faces I saw.  I do hope that you will continue to join in with daily comments!  I was thinking about it this weekend and have come to realise that I love doing my blog so much because you seem to respond in kind. I know that you do stop by to read it because of the lovely comments you take the time to leave.   When I first came to the UK, I didn't really know anyone and  my blog has allowed me to make so many new friends that it turned out to be a lifeline of sorts for me also.  So I may not say it enough but I do truly appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to stop by and letting me know that you have been by!  Today's card is another one of those Elegant Labels Four numbers, as I just could not put this set down!  Now, I found this blue card in our warehouse and fell in love with the colour, however, have recently learnt that it is a discontinued colour.  Not to worry, I am going to keep searching for something similar as I really love this shade (very wedgewoody).  I cut the largest die in the set out of coconut white card.  Now, I wanted all three dies in the set to be lined up and cut, but I have found that when the dies are very detailed, it is easier to just cut one, then add in the next one and so forth so that is what I did.  The middle die was then popped up on mounting foam for dimension after the inside die was removed.  I stamped my sentiment in black archival ink on white card, then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and micro beaded it for texture.  I mounted my frame over it and trimmed away the excess so it didn't show through the detailed edge.  I mounted this all on the pretty blue card to which I had added a pierced edge.  I matted it all on a double white mat, which I added white Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots as accents.  Using some left bits of white silky crush ribbon, I melted it with my heat tool and made a few flowers to add to the opposite corners of my frame for a tiny added touch.  Sometimes, I like a lot of flowers and sometimes it just needs a small touch and this just felt like one of those times!  I think it is because the die is so pretty already! Finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 8 1/4" in size.

Now for the winner of the Blogversary Giveaway of the 18 Stamps To Die For Range!  The name that I have drawn from all the comments left is:

Brenda Lello!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize!  Thank you again to everyone!   All for now, Sue x

Good Morning, Sue,
It is said that a genius is never recognised in his own lifetime.
Well, You have certainly proved this wrong!
Today's card once again proves that.
The blue card is well worth hunting for; however, a shade more towards midnight blue is currently my hunting aim.
I used your flowers on a christening card, but it turned our not nearly as beautiful as yours despite using two different heat tools.
Maybe, perhaps, when you are back among us soon, you could remind us about your trick(s), please.
Thank you for being our Friend!

Good morning Sue,
WOW!! Stunner of a card, both colours and dies. I use Elegant Labels 4 a lot and they never disappoint. Filigree delight is another one......... but here I have to stop, because I'd end up listing a lot more!
My, you have been getting a lot of comments on your birthday blog, AND WELL DESERVED, TOO.
I feel that you're a friend, too, as expressed very eloquently by baconbits. And far from being a chore, it's my absolute joy to open up your blog every morning and find out what delights you've come up with.
Also great for searching older posts/specific projects.
Enjoy your time with your mom but don't forget to come back to us - weather is getting warmer for you.
Hugs, Rose

Good morning Sue - here is the first place I come to every morning, as I LOVE your style, and would miss it incredibly. I am dead envious of the winner, but then we couldn't all have the prize could we?

I was instantly struck that this card was very reminiscent of Wedgewood. I love anything blue and white - my kitchen walls are covered in blue/white plates, and one window is full of blue glass.

GM Sue - love this - it's a must try although my flowers made from ribbon off cuts are a bit dodgy! so must practice these when I get a minute - ha! Congrats to Brenda also. At the weekend, I tried making a flower from the drop out pieces of the Grateful lattice - it's a passable for a first attempt but would love to see you demo this when you are on C&C next if that die is on the line up? A sunny warm week is forecast here - at long, long last!

Lovely comments today Sue, so glad that you're going to continue with the blog indefinitely!! Today's card is another real winner. I was also going to say that the colour was very Wedgewood. Blue isn't my favourite colour, but I do like this shade. I tried to make some of the heated ribbon flowers recently, and they weren't too bad!!

Hi Sue, it's so much fun being a 'Wilsonette' - good for the soul! Not got time to be grumpy when you inspire us to make beautiful cards like your post today. Then to top it off, we give the card to someone else and make their day. It means more in today's world to receive a hand- made card as Facebook, e-cards, email are all quicker and probably cheaper. People don't get to feel special very often in the fast moving world of today but sending them a card like today's does just that!

Hugs, Belinda. X

Hi Sue...I just love this die set...it's just so grand and regal...it is to die for!! LOL!!

The blue is delicious...it shows a little darker than Wedgewood Blue, but very close...and yes it would be lovely to get some.

An amazing four years and now even more to come...your blog is so popular because you give such great ideas and you are the best presenter of Spellbinders and Creative Expressions that I know.

So I say Onwards and Upwards to many great things to come...When it comes to five years I think we should have a HUGE PICNIC to celebrate!!??!!

Until then, take care.

Have a nice day! Deborah.H :) :)

I don't get to your blog each day, however, I do get my daily fix via email. I think you have a gift for making everyone feel they are special. Well done Sue's mom for raising such a wonderful, caring daughter.

Lovely card that colour blue is lovely I once painted a feature wall in my kitchen in that colour it was stunning sadly I had to move and could never get that colour again.

I love this die I have the labels 4 and grand dies too so you can really go to town with the layers.

So enjoying the dies from the last CHA and think I just about have all the ones I wanted which was most of them.lol
Only one I seem to be missing is labels 8 and decorative labels 8 which are next on my list no idea how I kiss those as they must be quite old. Off to see if you have any cards made with them.

Keep up the good work all the best Pauline ( freedom99)

Dear Sue
What a fabulous card this is, so very pretty. Just love the blue and white colour scheme. I'm glad you are searching for a similar blue card stock for us to get. I for one would love to have some so I could make a pretty colour scheme like this.
I love the elegant labels four dies you have used for this card. Such a beautiful set of die cut frames you have made -so intricate. Love also the microbeaded sentiment in the centre and the melted ribbon flowers are so very pretty around the frame of the sentiment.

Hope work hasn't overtaken your holiday back home completely.
Hugs
Best wishes from Katie-Louise
