Something Just For You

Morning bloggers!  Many of the blog friends from the North may recognise this one as it was part of the Scottish demo day cards.  Using the Secret Garden background stamp from Justrite, I stamped it with a combination of Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky distress ink to get the shade of blue I was after.  I had to stamp it twice to get enough to cut up for my squares.  Before cutting, however, I embossed both of them with my Tapestry embossing folder to give it some texture.  I cut the stamped piece into 2" x 2" squares and glued them to a white background with a small border strip showing between them.  I think we sometimes forget that "background" type stamps can be used in so many ways to create interesting layouts for our cards.  You don't have to always use them in one block piece!  Next I cut a Grand circle out of white card.  I used my Vintage Lace die to cut the shape from within the circle.  Once cut, I reinserted it back into place and taped it from the back.  I added some mounting foam and attached it in the centre of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smaller sized die from the Vintage Lace Accents.  I used Tumbled glass distress ink to highlight it while in the die.  I mounted it in the centre of my card with mounting foam as well.  I added flatback pearls to both dies in the focal element as accents.  I decided to add a few flowers to the card so I covered a piece of coconut white card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Using the Bitty Blossoms dies, I cut two flowers and peeled the backing paper off and micro beaded them.  I rolled them up and used a glue dot to seat the flowers.  I lightly inked the edges with Stormy Sky distress ink and added a pearl to the centres.  I tied a messy bow out of white seam binding and attached my flowers around it.  I cut a few leaves from the set and tucked them under and around my flowers.  I matted the entire piece on matching blue card then added a double white pierced mat to complete the project.  I like the way it has a Delft porcelain look to it.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
What a beautiful clean and fresh gift for today's gift.
I very rarely think of extending the use of background stamps and now you have shown me how good they look. Of course today's colour scheme is me so I cannot say more than 'a very very beautiful gift'.
Have now got to catch up on my bday card gifts as no crafting last week at all - not a good week but nearly back to normal so crafting today YEH.

  137. Good afternoon Sue,
I like the patchwork design you have done today with your stamps and embossing folder. It has given this card a total different image. I like the blue mixture that you have made with both blues, just a simple note to remind us that we can mix the ink pads together on a glass mat.
Can i just say to ALL the lovely people that craft along with you and leave wee notes on your blog giving others a lovely well done for winning. It shows what i have always known about our crafting friends... we are willing to share happy tiding as well as gentle hugs just when we need it. Crafters are the most generous people on the planet, never grudging anyone a piece of good luck, but are happy for them. I just want to say to all of those such lovely people on this blog who rallied around me winning when i didn't expect to your beautiful card. Thank you all for your happy thoughts and support.

  154. Hi Sue,
Love the clean crsip look of this card. The stamping and then embossing works well too.

  158. Hi Sue

such a lovely simple card. You're right, we do forget that you could just use a background stamp as the main focus of our card. Running it through an embossing folder gives it more dimension/
