Another Two-Fer!

Hi bloggers!  I've got two cards for you today, they are both pretty simple so I thought that they would make a good two-fer post for you.  This first one is a sweet little card that uses the Bird Cage Die D-lite.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and used a swirl stamp from the Creative Expressions set called Beaded Elements to stamp all around the edge and emboss with white powder. I love that white on white look.  Next I embossed a piece of lavender card using a Couture Creations embossing folder called Melody.  I simply cut around the design with a pair of scissors to create an interesting border (tip: if you use a piece of fine sandpaper you can smooth any rough areas of your hand cutting!).  I cut the bird card in white card and added some mounting foam to the back.  I tied a messy bow from mauve seam binding and added it to the side of my card.  I used a piece of pastel Bakers Twine and ran it from my bow to the top of the birdcage (sort of looks like the bird cage has been hung by it)  I had a small bird stamp that I used inside the open door of the birdcage.  I added a double white card border and used white PVA glue dots around the inner layer to complete this card.  Finished dimensions are 6" x 8" in size.  Scroll down for the second one.

Also featuring the Die D-Lites, this card is ultra simple as well.  I embossed a piece of white card using the Fretwork mask and added two strips of decorative paper (from my stash) down each side.  I covered a piece of black card with a sticky adhesive sheet and cut the Filigree Vase.  I peeled the backing paper off and gilded it with Persian Dream gilding flakes.( I have since learnt from blog friend Beverley that it is easier to gild, then die cut and I have to agree!)  I added some foam mounting to the back of it and curved it slightly.  I cut the Asters and Poppies Die D-Lites out of black card.  While still in the die, I inked them with a clear perfect medium pad.  I removed them from the die and heat embossed them with clear powder to add detail to the flowers.  I trimmed the stems slightly and placed the ends behind my vase so they looked as if they were inside the vase.  I added some black and white mats and piercing to the edges to complete this card.  Finished dimension is 7" x 8" in size.

I am still waiting for the card giveaway to be claimed, so if anyone knows Norah McPhee, please have her contact me.  I will give her a few more days to make contact, then draw another name if I still haven't heard from her.

And just for a change i have all the elements to make your beautiful card. The 2nd card i think would make a good card for a man as they enjoy flowers too, or for a lady who is not into fussy although i can't understand someone who does not like a beautiful card with its adornments that just make it stunning. Thank you for passing on your wonderful talent again.

  133. Both cards are beautiful Sue. I particularly liked the first one. That bird cage is beautiful. The door even opens. Love it.

  135. Simple beauties! Love the cutting around the embossing on the first card and that makes it my favorite one of these two. Well, I think the second one is also fabulous :)
