Hi bloggers! This is a lovely technique that is so easy to do using Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Cloud inks and the Hexagon Nobles. If you haven't used these inks to stamp with, you should give them a try, they are so easy! It looks like decorative paper, but it is a stamped background!

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue. It's not very often I find myself typing these words but I'm afraid this isn't for me. My mind gets lots with all the various colours which then takes away the dies you chose, whether it would work with just one or two colours I don't know, but I do know one thing, I need these chalky, I've watched the team use them now it's my turn lol. I'm sure there won't be many that feel the same as I do, but how boring would the craft world be if we all liked the same thing ? Sorry Sue.

A lovely background making the most of our stamps and inks. A cheery card and so easy to achieve. I think the dies work well but maybe if you want the embellishment to show off more maybe choose a darker contrast card...Just an idea.

Lacking both the stamps and the Color Cloud inks, I have to echo TDQ Karen and use a patterned paper alternating with plain. Then it wouldn't be high and low stamping, but it would still look good.
ReplyDeleteA nice thing about the color cloud inks, apparently, is that they cover or blend with whatever color is underneath. So you don't have to mask the flowers you've already stamped.
The stamp set is a nice assortment of flowers that give the look of a professionally designed patterned paper. If I tried with assorted flower and leaf stamps from my collection, the results would look much more kindergarten-y.
I think it's safe to say that Elaine and Pam are both doing their best to observe Sue's preference that the blog be about papercrafting. It was nice when we were a close-knit, caring family supporting each other through challenges, heartaches and health problems, but that is not to be. I would encourage everyone to put an email address on their Blogger or Google Plus profile so caring commenters can contact you privately to ask how you are or send you emails of hope and encouragement. Now that I know that double-sided sticky paper can be die-cut, I'm going to try that technique for glitterbitzing the flower petals.

I like the technique used and I think it is very effective. Like others above however, I think the stamping colours used are far too overwhelming for me and I would want to tone it down for my own taste. The idea of stamping the card though is a great one.

Hi Sue, love this card and the sheer vibrancy of it. I can see why not everyone is a fan as it is a bit busy and normally I would be shying away from it also but I think it is the colours that really grabbed me this morning. Love the way you have created the Pinwheel Flowers with the sparkly rear petals. This technique reminds me of the three layer over-edge stamping from some years ago as they both create an illusion. Your video was clear as always and the more I see the Chalk Clouds being used the more I want them but as I have a whole shelf full of Distress Inks I prefer to spend my pennies on your dies.

ReplyDeleteI love this card. Julia showed in on Hochanda and I ordered the stamps. I am using Distress Oxides as I don't have Color Cloud and the colors are similar. I need to fill in a bit more looking at your's today. I didn't add the foliage and that should do it. I do love the hi/low technique.

ReplyDeleteWell, todays card really seems to have split the blog, i find the composition and dies used , stunning as usual and the stamping bright, cheerful and colourful....i concur that it could be deemed a tad busy but i trust my buddy Yvonne when she tells me that in person it is both stunning and fabulous in equal measure. I look forward to seeing you use this new medium Sue in the tutorial since i am unfamiliar with them....i havent been in a crafty frame of mind for a while now and have lost touch with current trends i’m Afraid.
Can i just say thankyou to anyone who enquired about my wellbeing, i have just spoken to Yvonne and she tells me that my absence hasn’t gone unnoticed which is sweet.....she challenged me to comment on the blog tonight with the promise of a hand made card from her good self, so who am i to let her down and interfere with the flow of her creative juices!
Just to let you know that my health has been, and remains to be, challenged and I wasn’t able to follow the blog for a while. However, i promise to make a special effort for a very special lady who deserves the support and appreciation of her work.
Yvonne tells me that regulars have been missing, including Pam and Elaine, so I am concerned to read Donita’s comment and wonder if there is a connection? I have obviously missed some news in my absence, has Sue asked that we condense our comments and keep them strictly craft related? I wouldn’t want to offend or break any new guidelines.

Hi Sue. WOW !!! What an amazing card !!! I love the video to. This is a FABUOLUS technique and one I had never thought of attempting before !!! I never really think to make my own stamped backgrounds either !!! I am usually to busy die cutting or using background embossing folders. I love the stamps and the ink colours you have used. They are are a very pretty combination. I think this card would look equally fab using those beautiful pixie powders to. I have my gorgeous Hexagon dies so I am definately hoping to make my own version of this amazing card. I don't have the beautiful Pinwheel flowers ( yet !!! ) but I have lots of other gorgeous Sue Wilson flower dies I can use instead.
