Life Is A Garden

Hi crafters!  This is one of my favourite cards from the Nov. release, I just love the autumnal feel to it!  There is a little story that goes with it as well.  As I was making this, I wanted to add a hill for the wheelbarrow to sit on so I hand cut some milk card, but when I finished with it, I decided that the card really needed some stitched hills and I really wanted to design them to have in my line, so that was how the idea for the Stitched Hills and Clouds die set was born.  So in case you are wondering why I didn't use them on this card, they weren't around until several weeks after this card was finished!  From the Wooden Garden Cart set, I cut the wheelbarrow out of tan card and sponged Vintage Photo ink through the die to add some detail.  I cut several of the different sized pumpkins out of milk card and sponged them all with Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink and used a bit of Vintage Photo around the edges and stems.  I glued three into the cart and added the other two around the base of the cart.  I cut a square base from the Stitched Pegboard Frames, then added my milk card hill on the lower edge and the wheelbarrow with foam.  the sentiment was shadowed and added above.  I cut a larger piece of white card and extended the hill across it.  In the upper left corner I cut the Sycamore branch in white.  I used Distress Oxides to ink the leaves and stem (Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick and Vintage Photo.)  I added some sponged clouds around the top before gluing the branch in place (and I actually used two of them to extend further).  I cut a third one and inked it then cut off the leaves and scattered them across the bottom of the card.  I used the sun from the Rain or Shine die set in the upper right corner, lightly inking it in yellow on the rays.  I added the smaller piece with foam on top, then completed the card with white on white mats.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

  8. Hello Sue,

What a beautiful card to start the week. Reminds me of a perfect day at the "pumpkin patch." I enjoyed the insight into how you came up with one of your die sets, I bet you have a lot of interesting tidbits.

    Have a wonderful Monday.

  9. Hi there Sue. Firstly is Blogger full of flu bugs too ? 4th attempt here, it takes many hits of the publish button before it responds and then my comments get eaten ! Talking of flu and virus bugs, my heart has being weighing heavy over the past few days thinking my playful "keep your bugs to yourselves" has been the cause of the hurt and upset here (even though I added a heart emoji to show it wasn't to be read the wrong way) thinking its a phrase we use over and over to those that have bugs "keep them to yourself" we use it in jest not to offend, so I've been worrying that I've caused unhappiness and hurt unknowingly. If that IS the case I'm so very sorry. This is the only blog I comment on and I visit one beautiful craft Facebook page but I'd never go out of my way to leave a vicious message knowingly it would cause hurt and sadness so if it was down to me I deeply apologise and will be thoughtful with my comment.
When you first launched this collection I fell in love with it, then when the autumnal shades came into the mix it just wowed me, this has to be way up there in my list of most favourite dies and samples it's just so warming. I look forward to using mine too not only for autumn cards but for so many spring and summer cards when your SB additions will also be so useful to bring into the design of the wheelbarrow.
I hope your feeling a little better each day, and that today brings love and laughter. I hope the hurt and unhappiness here will soon be replaced with caring and laughter soon xxx

  12. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, this is gorgeous, I am amazed at all the new dies you come up with, you really are a very talented lady who I am pleased and proud to call a friend.

Stephanie, your comment about bugs was not taken as offensive, it is something we say in the UK as well, so don't let it upset you - have a wonderful day and keep showing your wonderful samples.

Pam, not sure where you are but hope all is well.

Oh Sue, a little birdie tells me that you have a new release coming out very soon, exciting isn't it.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  20. Dear Sue and Friends,

This card sold me the wheelbarrow but not the sycamore branch. Love the sentiment. I never would have thought of making the hill yellow.

We had sunshine in the Sunshine State on Sunday, and it promises to be sunny again today. Still cool, but not as cold as Canada. Flowers and green grass feel good on the eyes. It's a surprise to see familiar house plants growing outside as trees.

    Best to everyone.

Steph - please don't beat yourself up about your comment, I'm sure no-one misconstrued it as we all say something similar at times.

Pam - the last time you went missing we found you had been rushed into hospital, I hope that is not the case this time. We would love to know if you are ok.

  50. Hello Sue,
This was the card that made me order this lovely Die Set!! It’s gogeous! I have quite a few keen gardeners in the family and this will be used a lot! First time next month for younger son! The wheelbarrow is a good size too . So interesting to hear about your hills and clouds lightbulb moment!! Thank you ! The colours in this are just gorgeous!
Stephanie - I would hope people know when we are just having a bit of fun! I wouldn’t worry about what you said! If we can’t have a bit of fun life gets a bit hum drum!
I comment on only two blogs daily but this was my first one and it’s special ! I don’t want to be forced off it either! They, whoever they are, will have won then!
Re: Blogger - I’m finding it’s working but it’s a lot slower to publish! If I Press Publish and wait for a minute or so - it generally works! I think I was pressing it again too soon. It’s maybe something that an update has caused! Who knows . Hope it helps! If it doesn’t - be gentle with me! Ha ha!
Pam - I hope and pray you aren’t ill . I miss you lots and things aren’t the same without you!
Elaine - love to you , Andrew and Helen.
    Love to all,
