Thanks

Hi crafters!  I have gone with a bit of a distressed look with this one.  I embossed a piece of silver mirror card with the Jacobean Floral embossing folder.  I used the Graphite Gilding Polish over the top of it and buffed it with a piece of kitchen roll.  I lightly sanded the top of the design to remove some of the polish for a distressed look.  I cut two of the Atlantic Ocean Borders out of coconut white card and faced them inward towards each other, offsetting them so they interlocked and I glued them to the bottom portion of the card.  For the focal element, I cut the Azores die out of white and backed it with white, then cut another solid backing out of black.  I cut that one in half and used it as a shadow.  I stamped my sentiment and cut the inner die from the Cape Verde as a  frame and used the slightly larger section as a decorative mat for the sentiment.  I added them to the centre of the Azores die and attached it above the borders.  For the floral element, I cut several of the Chrysanthemum die out of white card.  I used a silver metallic marker to the tips and spritzed them all with water.  I scrunched them up and assembled the flower from the pieces.  I seated them on a black satin ribbon bow and added white leaves as accents. Two matching stick pins were added as embellishments.   White, black and silver mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.

I completely forgot to add that I am doing the One Day Special on Hochanda today at 9am, 1pm and 5pm.  I do hope you can tune in, there will be loads of great demos!  All for now, Sue x

  1. Gorgeous card Sue , love the elegance.
Loved your Hichanda shows last night. As I have the dies, I could enjoy the demos and the beautiful cards you made with them. I oarticularly liked the red and white diaganol striped card, you make it look so easy. Any one of your cards would be a joy to receive.
Karen, hope the stitches came out okay and hubby is more comfortable now.
Pat, hope your hubby too is improving well.
Elaine, did you hand the firm in, hope it is resolved soon.
Sharon Casey, are you feeling better, hope so Hun.
June, think you and the others are right, they do seem to have a plan to get rid of staff without having to pay out. We have another 3 leaving this week, all younger and all have been there since they left school. Civil Service, there is nothing civil about it. Our pay rise was announced yesterday 0.08%. Woohoo, what can i spend that on.
Donita, it must be difficult for you to understand, it's hard enough for us, and we don't have any answers.
Saw the GP yesterday, he can't prescribe until he knows what they want me to have, checked me over, if nothing in a week he will call the hospital..
Hope all is well with everyone, hugs to all, thinking iof our poorly and missing friends, miss you all.

    Good morning Sue,

I enjoyed seeing you on tv last night and am looking forward to more of your creations today.

Today's card has such a beautiful look to it. The Jacobean floral embossing folder is one of my favourites. It looks simply stunning in the mirror card accented with the gilding polish.

    Have a lovely day,

  5. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, lovely card today, although I am not a lover of embossed mirror card it does look good on this sample.

Pam I reiterate all you have said, don't spend your rise because it probably would not even cover your poll tax rise for this year would it, ha ha. Still better than nothing I suppose. I thought I was right about your management, I am more convinced that this is true now, another 3 leaving - is nobody listening to those alarm bells. You would have thought that with all the technology out there and everything on computers that Drs. should be able to access into the hospitals notes and actually see for themselves what is needed instead of having to wait for weeks and weeks for a letter.

Looking forward to seeing more of your shows today Sue, I to have many if not all of the dies you have been using so could even make the same card that you demo, might even try that.

Stay safe, heathy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

  10. Morning Sue. How striking is this sample, not a question but a strong statement. It's really incredible how much guilding polish changes the look of embossed card with just one gentle stroke or two. If we replicated this sample minus the floral element it would make a really lovely card for the men in our lives.
I've recorded your shows and the rest are set up ready to record for prosperity (or for as long as I'm around to craft) but goodness knows when I'll be able to sit and relax with a hot coffee to watch them as it's a little busy here just now, but believe me as soon as I will ☺ the message on today's sample is returned to you for all the love and work you put into your incredible blog, and for the endless inspiration you give us every day of the year. Enjoy your day at the studio and keep your future design ideas close to your chest lol.
Sending my daily love n hugs to you xxx

  18. Dear Sue and Very Kind Persons,

What a shock that you would polish, buff and then rough up mirror card with sandpaper. This is why some people are artists and some people are followers, admirers and would-be copiers.

Thanks for reminding me about Sue being on Hochanda.

And Happy Birthday to Pussycats and congratulations on getting the twinkle star frames. You'll have a great memory associated with that set now.

Hoping to watch a little Hochanda Rewind before sleeping.

Pam no Ive not been good the infection has spread so on more antibiotics and feeling rough, it seems to be a bad year this year for things going wrong. I do hope someone wakes up in your company and see what is going on, if they dont there blind as we can all see it. I do hope your doctor get the hospital letter so you can start your new meds take care and stay strong my friend.

I reiterate all Pam has said to all and send love and healing hugs to all.

  54. Hi Sue,

Interesting card today with different techniques, not sure if it's up my street though, but plenty of others will argue the point.

Pam, usually if I have had a referral, I ask the consultant to give me the prescription instead of waiting for the doctor to get the letter. Most of their GP mail sits in central office intray until the typing pool gets it done.

Saw my new GP on Monday re my hip and other symptoms, BT for them tomorrow and hip Xray booked in a fortnight's time. I hope they do find something this time, for years they have been telling me 'there is nothing wrong with your hip' yet my doctor agrees something is not quite right. I shall tell them this time to have a week living inside my body and see how they cope with the pain. ho hum.
Gurt squashy comfort blanket hugs to all in pain, discomfort or loss.

  94. Hi Sue,

The Jacobean Floral EF is one of my favorites. The focal element bothers me. I think is too big. The background is gorgeous so probably I will add a small sentiment somewhere in the right corner, stamped on the smallest die from the Cape Verde set. I wouldn’t cover this background. It is too beautiful.

Looking forward to seeing some of your shows today.

Pam – Our rise, when we get it!, is not more than 0.035% /week for 99% of us. If you are somebody’s favorite the % is going up or up-up. When you get “promoted” is meaning you get more work to do for the same salary, again for 99% of us. We have a saying in our office “Life is not fair but we have each other” (of course minus the favorites ones) :)
Elaine – Hope you feel better. Hugs.
Karen – Glad your hubby is better.
Cheryl – Hope you’ll find somebody who understands what are you going thru.
