Moments

Hi bloggers!  A clean and simple card for your viewing today.  I do apologise as the acetate has created a shadow that I just wasn't able to eliminate in the pictures, but hopefully you will know what you are looking at at least!  I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut the Cascading Butterfly die diagonally across it to get an aperture.  I stamped my sentiment in Black Archival in the lower corner.  Next I embossed it with the Butterfly Dreams folder to carry on the butterfly theme and add texture to the background.  I added a piece of acetate to the back of the aperture and mounting foam to raise it.  On a separate piece of coconut white card, I used my Pixie Powders.  I selected Rich Gold, Aubergine Dream and Aqua Lagoon .  I tapped the powder across the card, then spritzed it with water.  I like to let them dry naturally given the time, but you can also heat set them for quicker results.  I attached my embossed front piece so the pixie powdered piece showed through the aperture.  I cut the Cascading Butterfly die again, this time out of black card.  I used used the outer edge from the die cut and glued it on top of the aperture where the acetate was to give it a more detailed shape.  I completed the card with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Beautiful card Sue, it's lovely. Simply elegant.
Elaine, my dear, how much can one person bear. I am so sorry to hear about your sister in law, I hope all goes well for her. It's good news that Andrew is holding his own with the treatment, need to get John sorted and take some pressure off you. If it feels too much please talk to the doctor, don't try to deal with it all yourself, you are not that well either.
Rosemary, hope all went well yesterday, it's over now and your hair will wash well. Good fir you.
Karen, hope hubbys news was good from doctor. Take care.
Pat, good news that hubby is now on crutches, after my ankle op I was non weight bearing for 10 weeks then gradually back to walking on it.
Laine, short gentle post from you so I gather you are still not well. Sending a huge gentle hug for you. Hope Yvonne is improving too.
Need to make an appointment with GP re letter from hospital for inhaler, they want GP to suggest suitable delivery system as I can't use all inhalers, need BP checked too to see if it has come down. Old age is not something I am fond of.
June hope the craft class went well, so wish I could attend.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends, also those struggling to cope with their caring responsibilities .

  5. Morning Dear Sue. This sample is far too lovely for just a few words of praise. I think we've been lucky to see this several times since you launched this die, plus so many other cards made with this Cascading Butterfly have been shown on various Facebook groups and all have been CAS, so pretty sitting on different backgrounds, pixie powders, caught in crystal, guilding flakes and so on, I just think that this die is so deserving on clean and simple, less is more as the die makes the card. I have no need to ramble on, I've said my peice about today's gorgeous inspiration, what more needs to be said ?
Thank you for your daily inspiration Sue.
Sending hugs and much love for the day xxx

Pam I reiterate all you have said above. Craft group was OK but due to holidays it was only half of us but it was great fun, had lots of laughs and they have ordered 6 of Sue's dies, the stained glass poinsettia and robin ones as we are doing a card using them next week - I should be on commission Sue ha ha.

The EEG was okay, I had to wear a sort of hat that reminded me of the skin that goes over a haggis, our Scottish bloggers will know what I mean!!. It was tight and so was the strap under my chin. Took about 45 minutes. Hopefully have all results a week Tuesday

  89. Good afternoon/evening Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is a bonnie card Sue with the butterflies all up in flight and the pixie powders makes me think that it looks like onyx or marble the way that they colours go. The simplicity of this card makes it useful for numerous occasions in my book. Although it is a simplistic card, it is so lovely and really doesn't need anything to enhance it, as it would be a waste and perhaps spoil the overall image achieved by this little beauty. Thank you flower for bringing such a pretty piece of mother nature to us today.
Well i'm glad that it is drying up again and warming up as it wasn't so nice this morning. I stupidly left my washing out last night because i was so sure that i had heard that it was going to be a nice day. Huh! i don't think so but my hills do look so pretty when they have had a wash and blowdry with the wind. I had trouble here again today as his mum was going to an informal drop in that lasted 4 hours(some drop in) so i got landed with trouble and what remained of my fruit bowl was gone along with the strawberries that he has decided he now likes. That boy has a fruit appetite like no other child i know because just in the door this morning and it was "apple please gran, apple please". Yes, i know but i do not like children to have no manners, so even Harry has to learn how to ask for things. I sat down to my breakfast of plain shreddies and well my boy needed that too, lol. He wouldn't eat anything before coming out the door of his own house, so i guess i must have better things in that he likes. It's great to hear him making up sentences now instead of just single words, you can really see him coming on with his speech. The poor wee mite with being so tall, is just at that stage where he is banging his head off the door handles or snecks, but granny's magic kisses make it all better. I always thought that it was a fallacy but seemingly there is something in kisses that adults give to children that they love that does help to heal faster.
Rory got in his Scottish Qualification Awards notice with him getting a 4 all the across the board for his course that he has just finished. It is great to see him coming on and it may not be the best mark going, but it is a really good mark for him in his Creative Industries course. Now all i need is for him to get word through that he has a place on the next stage of the course.
Well i have one hungry pooch and teenager looking to be fed so i will wish you all a good night and speak to you all tomorrow. Sending hugs to all my Wilsonettes and missing a few and their antics, i hope that they are feeling a bit better today.
    Love and crafty hugs

  101. Hi Sue. What a beautiful, elegant card !!! I love, love, love the Cascading Butterflies die. Your card is so pretty and you have used a lovely sentiment to. The Pixie powders look great !!! It has taken me a very long time but I am finally warming towards Pixie powders. I think I will finally have to buy some to try them out for myself. ( I am not to keen on bright, bold colours and prefer more softer colours.) I think its because it is out of my comfort zone !!!
I loved your card yesterday to. I think it is absolutely gorgeous Sue !!! I really love the dies and colours you have used. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous cards. Sending lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

Beautiful card. I love the Cascading Butterflies die. It's been my most-used die in recent months.
Flakey reception while I'm away for a few days so I hope this flies.
    Take care everyone.

  106. Another lovely card Sue. I didn't think I would be posting today as my elder daughter arrive yesterday evening from Wisconsin. She is still sleeping so I thought I would quickly read comments.
I really would like to buy the pixie powders but I have so many powders etc. and they don't have labels so I really don't know how to use them.

All for now with hugs for all that need them
