Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there my crafty friends!  Today's Wednesday Card Giveaway was actually made using some leftover bits from previous cards, but I love the way it came out!  I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card with the Brambled Rose embossing folder to give the background some texture.  Next I used the two smaller sides of the Atlantic Ocean Background from a previously made card where I had cut them and extended them (waste not, want not!) LOL  I taped them together and backed them with black card.  I added a thin teal card mat before adding mounting foam to the back to raise it and attach it to the background.  I cut the centre of the Gemma die in black and backed it in teal and attached it horizontally in the centre of the card.  I cut the Mia die and snipped away the ends, leaving only the centre section.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a circle, adding a black mat and attaching it in the centre of the card.  I cut the Cascading Butterfly die in teal and added three butterflies to the card.  A floral element was added to the left using the solid flowers from the Striped Nasturtium dies.  I spritzed them with water and scrunched them and tipped the edges with Peacock Feathers  Distress ink.  I seated the two flowers on a black satin bow and accented with Family Tree branches. White, black and teal mats were added to complete the card.   The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 9 1/4" in size.   Leave a comment if you would like to be entered into the drawing to win this one.  All for now, Sue x

  4. Morning Sue. Oh my word I actually recognise those left over bits and how brilliant that they all played nicely to make such a gorgeous gift. Sue, I have an A4 cello bag, an A5 & 6 cello bags plus a small box of 'left overs' and yes I sometimes use them but wow, I get nothing like this as an end result and never will. Remember that folder you had through the post last week, well I couldn't resist, so I'm hoping the rose and jasmin plus a couple of packs of card will come through my post box today, it's going to be a bit difficult to hide though lol. Don't worry Sue, I'll take the blame this time lol.

WOW, what a beautiful card made from the leftover bits. You would never known they hadn't been die cut specifically for that card. The whole layout is stunning.

All is quiet here now, all the fireworks and Fourth of July celebrating is over, so it's time to try and get some sleep.

  89. Hello Sue and Wilsonettes,

Nice to know that peacock feathers is the distress name for teal.

Had a quiet 4th. Forgot it was my cat and my sixth anniversary. FB reminded me. We were both so young then. Both of us could now stand to lose a few. Ounces in his case, pounds in mine.

Laine it was my experience after a seizure that I never had another migraine. Don't know how the neurologist knew, but he said it would happen and he was right. Hope it's the same for you.

    Love,

He's like Mr L, crutches, no weight bearing, and doesn't know how long it's going to take. I reckon you'll be in a Matron's outfit by the end of this. xx
Rosemary, I hope it's not too bad for you.

  94. Good morning Sue and all.
Today's card is so beautiful and someone is sure going to be happy to win it. Yesterday my younger Daughter took me out to Inspirations to spend my gift cards from Christmas and Birthday. I had over £100 to spend and was foolish enough to think that would be enough LOL.I doubled the amount and bought 2 Dies from the Atlantic collection,2 dies from the stained glass collection,2 striplets and the Chrysanthemum. I also mistakenly bought a Groovi parchment embossing plate which I thought was an ordinary embossing folder. I may not be taken to Inspirations for another year so I'm probably stuck with it.
I may not be commenting every day for the next 2 weeks as my elder Daughter is coming from Wisconsin tomorrow. Greetings to all. Marie

As has been said by others before me " I wish I could create something so lovely with left overs!" Yes, I do keep them but they always seem to be in the wrong shape or colour! I must try harder! Nobody would ever know you had made the card from leftovers. It's beautiful! I particularly like the flowers, leaves and bow! Like the addition of teal too!
Pat L - as so often happens Maureen has stolen my line! I was going to say that you will be a Sister or even Matron by the end of this Nursing stint! Your poor husband must be fed up as well as in discomfort if not pain! Hope he gets well sooner than they think!
Marie - you have had a spending spree! I do hope you enjoy using your new goodies!
Rosemary - thinking of you today. Hope all goes well. Never mind the hair that stuff will wash out - but you may need a shampoo designed to get products out of your hair not just an ordinary one!
Karen M - hope all goes well today!
Love to all, Myra ( Friend of Maureen!!) xx

  102. Hi Sue,
An absolutely fabulous card. I love the way you've used the Atlantic die and the butterflies and THE FLOWERS! Must try to do them like you have done, I've done them only fairly flat.
    I love this card!

  109. Beautiful card Sue and who would know it was made from bits. I don't seem to have the right bits to make a card except for lots of squares where I have gutted the card. They are useful. Great idea Sue and a lovely freebie card. Thank you. Hope the inhaler helps Pam and echoing all your comments.

    Good luck all!

Rosemary - Thinking of you today.
Karen – Hope everything went all right for your hubby.
Laine & PP – Get well and came back.
Maria – Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your vacation.

Sorry i was not about yesterday to comment ,i was on a downer it seems all the people close to me are becoming ill , another person i love dearly my SIL has had her results through and is having an operation on Monday next , we are just hoping all will be well for her and that the Chemo will do its job.

Laine and Yvonne hope you both feel better really soon.

Rosemary i am thinking about you , if it the same one i had you will not feel a thing , just have a problem washing all the gunge out of your hair .

Andrew is well enough for treatment Tomorrow , his results show no change from last time , so he is happy with that.

Just logged on to your blog and seen this beautiful card........made with scraps!!

Most crafter have a box of 'bits' - not to be thrown away - so this is just what they are saved for in my opinion.

    A true crafter wastes NOTHING!!!

  148. Good morning Sue. I'm having a senior moment I think as I thought I'd already commented on this one but can't find it. Maybe I'm too excited as my elder daughter will be arriving into Manchester airport from Wisconsin this evening. The card is beautiful and I gave in to temptation on Tuesday and bought a bunch of Sue Wilson dies.
