Just For You

Hi crafters!  Today's card is a nice unisex card that can be used for many an occasion.  I started with a piece of sky blue card.  Using the outer decorative die from the Timeless Striplet, I cut a design down the centre of the card, then flipped the die to cut the design across the centre of the card.  I backed it with white card and added small white pearls to the centre design.  I cut four of the Pacific Ocean corners in white and backed them with black card and added them with foam to raise them.  For the focal element, I cut the Pacific Ocean tag in white and backed it in black.  I added it to the centre of the card with foam.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the smaller oval from the tag set and used the larger oval to cut a sky blue mat for the sentiment.  I added the sentiment to the centre tag and completed the card with white, blue and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  4. Morning Sue. Oooo I like this. It's so clever how you are designing your striplet collection to become border patterns too. I'm not sure if I've described that right but hopefully you'll know what I'm trying to say, the cut and flip, I'd probably cut and flop as I'm useless at doing things like this, but it gives the base of the card so much interest. How I love starting my day with beautiful cards and I know just where to find them ☺
So I'll end with my usual hug and thank you for my early smile and hope you have a lovely day xxx

  45. Dear Sue and Crew,

Sometimes I'm agog and read the recipe to see how you performed the miracle. Sometimes I find myself trying to redesign to solve whatever is bothering me. On this one, the corners seem too far apart and too heavy for the spindly striplet edge. I would either use the body of the striplet for a stronger line, or trim one third from the vertical striplet, bringing the corners closer together for one of the dimensions anyway. Looks like the tag will still fit inside the closer corners. Love those corners and that tag, btw. They really do coordinate with each other and especially with the Tahiti set.
    Condolences to Helen's family.
Enjoyed cutting flowers this weekend. I laid out all my flower dies on wide clear tape arranged as one piece the size of my cutting plates. Put down a layer of wax paper, a half sheet of vellum and a half sheet of card stock. Got all my flowers on two of those. So during commercials, I cut both arrays of flowers on the machine, then brought them into the living room to free them from the dies during the show. Then back to the cutting room to cut some more. The commercials are so much less annoying if you miss them completely!
So far I have ziploc baggies full of white, two yellows, two pinks and two purples, mixed in with equal parts vellum. Probably need more white. And the pearl colors of card stock.
Another wonderful thing about Sue Wilson dies is they have uniform thickness, so you can load pieces from different sets, as well as the biggest die with the smallest, and they'll all cut on the same pass through the machine.
Later Monday I'm going to the eye doctor, so I took a vacation day since I won't be able to read after they dilate my pupils. Hoping to visit the printers supply store for reams of card stock, boxes of envelopes and more colors of pearlized card stock and paper. I hope they have mirror card.
It used to be that when we were earning money, we couldn't get to a store during business hours to spend it. Now we can go broke at all hours of the day and night, shopping online.
Have a jolly or solemn day, as conditions warrant.
    Love,
    Donita

You Started Today's Card By Taking A Piece Of "Sky Blue Card" Cut It To The Size You Required Then Using
The Outside "Decorative Die" From "The Timeless Striplet Die" You Cut A Design Down The Centre Of Your Card
Then You Flipped The Die Out To Cut The Very Beautiful Design Across The Centre Of Your Card (As I Mentioned
Giving The Illusion You Had Cut The Die More Than Just The Twice)
You Backed This With "Coconut White Card" To Show Through The Decorative Cut Out Parts, Sue, You Added
"Small White Pearls" To The Centre Of Your Design, Sue, You Cut Out Four Luxurious "Pacific Ocean Corners"
In "Coconut White Card" Backing Them With "Black Card" To Make Them "POP" You Added "Mounting Foam" For
Dimension Also Adding "White Pearls" You Placed Them Onto The "Sky Blue Background" That You Had Created.
For Your Focal Point You Cut Out "The Pacific Ocean Tag" In "Coconut White Card" Then Backing In "Black Card"
Sue, You Added "Mounting Foam" For Dimension, Then Placed To The Centre Of Your Card, You Then
Stamped Your Sentiment "Just For You" Cutting It Out With The Smaller Oval From "The Pacific Ocean Tag Set"

  107. Hi Sue,

I feel like you made this card special for me. When you presented the Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway (the aqua card where you used the outer die from the Lotus Striplet to cut a decorative back ground into it) I was wondering if we can make a similar background with a different die from your Striplets collection. Yes, we can. You proved today with this beautiful card. I have the Timeless Striplet die. I will try it later but I won’t mind if I can have your card. The sky-blue color is so soft and the black makes everything to pop up. I love it.

Elaine – So sorry to hear about Helen's mum. My thoughts are with Helen at this time. Sending my daily hugs to all of you.
Pam – Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
Myra – Donita is the one making flowers, I am the one spending money shopping online BUT … I bought only Sue’s dies, nothing else. I am very disappointed my order didn’t come yet.
Donita – Well done. I should follow your example. Hope your doctor appointment went as planned. Take care.
Maria – If you find a way to reduce the book to a list please let me know. Wouldn’t be great to have a sponsor?!
Laine – Hope you are alright.

    Have a great Tuesday everyone,

  108. Clever design with the striplet. The black is not for me but I can see this card working in lots of other colour combos.

Elaine, so sorry to hear the sad news of Helen's mum. Condolences to Helen, Andrew and your family.

    Take care everyone.

  109. What's not to love about this card. I think the Pacific Ocean is my favorite release. I just watched the new video with the port hole card. I bought this set as soon as it came out and was pleased to see I had all the pieces for this card. Love the hinge.
    Have a wonderful Tuesday,
