Corners as Borders Card

Hi bloggers!  Happy Valentine's Day too!   Today's video will show you a great way to use your corners to create a pretty border for your card.   Just because it is called a corner doesn't mean you have to use it for one! LOL

The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine, I hope the Drs appointment went well. This weather won't help your aches and pains, nor my chest problem. Old age, such a bummer at times.
Tina, hope you are well honey and that your cold has cleared up.
June, I too wonder how Sharon and her daughter are doing. If you are looking in Sharon, thinking of you.
Laine, you hit the nail on the head with the Gang of 9, toy boys, policemen, wheelies on Norah's scooter, goodness knows what they haven't told us. Like the song I want to be in your Gang lol. Rock on Ladies.
Cheryl, you have worked so hard on the production, you deserve an accolade.
Donita, it doesn't matter how good a holiday is, it is always good to get home but you will miss your Dad.
Dragonsnap, enjoy the sun while you can, there is none here, it's so cold.
Caring hugs to all, esoecially missing friends, Norah, NannaTina,Wheeley, Yvonne and all who are not well or need a hug.

Looking forward to my Valentines surprise, why have roses that are double the price this time of year that last a couple of days, when you can have 'precious' metal that lasts my lifetime lol it's just guessing which it will be.

  42. Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

I, too, was expecting to see the jeweled heart in all its glory today but this was a delightful surprise. It's lovely!

And I just checked -- when ordering the Atlantic Ocean border and corners, I also ordered the Pacific ones. Yippee!

My Valentine's Day card-sending ambitions were foiled partly by the snowstorm that extended my vacation but kept me away from my dies and supplies and partly by spending so much time making more that there's not enough time to get them sent.

Or, I'm way ahead for next year.

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, first day back at work went well but already I'm up to my eyeballs with new projects.

I hope there's at least some chocolate in everyone's day today.

    Love,
    Donita

  91. Hello Sue,
Well I'm a bit late but I have watched the video! My husband now recognises the music !! I would never have thought of making a border out of the corners! It's so effective! Transposing the blue and white added another dimension too. I do also like those Sentiments and may need to invest in those as there are so many nice little ones! It was interesting too , to see how your two sizes of ovals for the Sentiment came into their own! A truly lovely card or even two smaller cards if you see what I mean! Thank you!
Helen Bell - how did your scrunched up Nasturtiums turn out? I hope you were thrilled with them.
Maria - thanks for your hug, my friend! Here's one coming back to you! How are you ?
Laine - Yes - Maureen is a worry!!
Elaine - no cards here either but I can happily live with that!
Carmen - well done on making your first ever Valentine's Card!
P.Austen - hope you find the diamond - careful you don't swallow it!
Cheryl - congratulations and well done!
Pam - one thing they didn't tell you was they took me to a very expensive Designer Store !! I even had my photo taken outside! It was very kind - but encouraging a Pensioner to spend money isn't always a good thing!

Fantastic informative video once again, there is always something new to learn, it's the little things like how you worked from the inside out on your focal point and that you cut the corners in two stages instead of inner and outer together which really help in giving us those expert tips. The resulting card is stunning and a border from a corner, well it's just soooo clever of you. Thank you Sue.

Elaine I am glad to hear Andrew had a good day, here's to many many more.
Maria thank you for your group hug, it was lovely, sending one right back to you.
Pam I can't reveal the name of the designer shop we dragged, sorry, took Myra to. It was definitely a first for her and I'll never forgot the sheer look of terror as we pushed her inside. I'll give you a clue though, she spent £1 here and £1 there and another £1 here.......
Jean welcome back, it's a good habit to get back into.
    Love and hugs for all

  115. Happy Valentine's Day Sue,

Like several others on this site, I too thought we would see something with hearts and flowers but you have surprised us all.

What a clever way to use the corners to create a beautiful card, the coloring reminds me of Wedgewood. Everything just goes lovely together.

  116. Good evening Sue
A truly beautiful card and such a very clever method you have used. I have to confess it does remind me of Wedgwood, love it. Thank you for your very informative video so helpful.
Now Pam I notice neither Myra or Saba have told you when we took Myra to the very exclusive shop she put on her dark glasses, why.... in case any of her neighbours should see her!
Maria thank you for your hug to all our group returning one to you.
Cheryl well done to you dear.

  117. Sue, I love the way you get us to think outside the box. This is a fabulous card. Sometimes it's just to easy to think of a corner as just a corner or a border just as a border. You certainly keep us on our toes.
Yet another day of cloud and rain here but at least it's warm, although we are down to 22 today. Hopefully tomorrow will see some sunshine.
Hope you're all keeping safe and warm.
    Crafty hugs to all.

  121. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a surprise to find a card that doesn't involve one of your new fabulous heart dies, but i am so not disappointed because you have treated us to a video featuring a new and innovative way of using our corner dies. This is a beautiful card sample, i love the layout, the pinpoint EF is stunning as a base for the focal point and sentiment but to me, the corner inspired border is the true star....the soft Wedgewood tones really suit the feel of this card and i would have been over the moon to have received such a gorgeous card today. As it stands I wasn't so lucky but since I'm a diehard singleton i guess that i cant complain, I'll just buy my own chocolates and flowers:-) I hope your other half treated you like a princess today Sue, you deserve it....does he ask you to make your own card for the occasion though?
Well, today was Brodie's 6th birthday, and how time flies...he enjoyed, to a point, my rendition of Happy Birthday but he was more interested in the bag that his present came in feeling that a new dish for his biscuits was too practical and predictable....he had requested a live bird or rodent but I don't agree with blood sports:-)
We had a lovely Spring like day today with mild temperatures and sunshine which made me feel rather cheerier than of late. The days are getting noticeably lighter which really boosts me...suffering from SAD is a real trial each winter so i can totally empathise with you Patricia, hopefully your planned soirée with the Gang will give you something exciting to focus on in the Spring
Many of us would love to be part of your get together, it sounds such fun, but you girls are keeping the location close to your chest in case you get unwanted hangers on I'm guessing....wise move, if Yvonne got wind of it she would spoil the entire occasion with her uncouth behaviour, just ask Maureen, she knows what i mean:-)
Maureen, so Yvonne has been telling me porkies again! And i was so looking forward to being waited on by the bronzed beefcake during my next visit...i guess George will just have to take his top off again then:-) Shame on Mr K though, not treating you to something today is scandalous, that's why i despair of men and stick with cats!
Elaine, awww, what a great Granny you are, i hope everyone enjoyed your mini Cottage Pies. I'm so pleased that Andrew is having a good week, not long to go now and then he can relax at the caravan in the warmer weather:-)
Donita, what is your cats name, age and colouring....I'm more interested in cats than people i think!:-)
Myra, hope you're going to keep Maureen on a tight leash in April, she sounds like she could be a handful...will she expect you to peel her grapes in the absence of her manservant i wonder?
Pam, Gang of Nine at large, approach with caution! Does that seem like a reasonable warning for the other guests at their hotel of choice? I think that they need someone with a calm, no nonsense approach to keep them in line and you would fit the bill perfectly:-)
Maria and Norah, i hope that you are both feeling better, sending hugsxxx
Hugs also to Lynda, Yvonne, Frances, deb C, Pat, P, Tina T, Nanna Tina, June, TRacy and Wheely, and anyone else i may have forgottenxxx

    Crafty love and hugs
