Double Shadow Box Sunday

Good Sunday morning all! Two Birthday Shadow Box cards for your enjoyment today!  The first one is more soft and mellow in a vintage sort of colour combo.  This is actually what I always call my neapolitan colour combo, pale pink, pale green and milk card.  I cut the Birthday Shadow Box in milk card and added mounting foam to the back.  I lightly inked another piece of milk card with Antique Linen to give it a soft aged look and used that as the backing piece for my shadow box.  I cut the Triple Line Happy Birthday die in milk card and used one of the negative sections that just said birthday.  I backed it with blush card and glued it into the long narrow section going vertically.  I cut three presents in brown, green and blush card and glued them into place in the section above.  The sentiment was cut in green twice and glued together then attached in the largest section with a blush heart balloon.  I finished off the remaining three sections with party hats, balloons and cupcakes.  Milk and blush mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 7 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two today uses the same exact die set, but I went another direction with it.  The Shadow Box dies make great shaker cards!  I cut the frame using the Birthday Shadow Box out of gloss white card.  I added a piece of clear acetate to the back then added mounting foam just around the outside edge.  You could easily make it into a compartmentalised shaker card if you wanted to , but this was just a quick card done this way.  I added a whole bunch of brightly coloured sequins that I had to the centre of the card then added a white backing piece to cover them.  I cut the balloons, cupcakes, present and text out of gloss white card and simply glued them on to the acetate above each of the sections.  A simple white on white mat completed the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  7 1/2" in size  All for now, Sue x

  9. Sunday Smiles to you Sue. I need to look back at my final entry of yesterday as I remember going on and on and I'm sorry everyone. It was a nightmare evening, with a terrified dog. Eating supper separately so one of us could play and try and distract her from the awful loud constant bangs overhead plus admiring your final reveal (which I need to go back to as I don't remember what you inspired us with) !!
What I do remember is how much work you put into all the new dies and samples to go with. It's been wonderful Sue and so much to keep us happy with. Thank you and congratulations.
I love both of today's shadow box samples, it goes to show just how many options they give us from plain and easy to all the razamataz and bling for a 'big' birthday. I've pointed out the most useful of the new collection as far as market is concerned to my lovely Andy and I'm hoping that if I'm good, I shall be having a new shadow box for my December birthday and one for Christmas as I know I can spread the pleasure you give me via your dies to customers that visit my stand and to those that order from me.
So I'll end with my usual hug for the day and hope you have a lovely Sunday xxx

  10. Good morning Sue and crafters all,
Beautiful collection of cards over this last launch - thanks for the inspiration.
Love both cards today and unable to choose between them, shadow boxes are so versatile.
Pam - at least Peter is eating well, although his leg is swollen it is not painful which is a blessing.
June Smith - hope your leg is improving. It's a slow process.
I was woken by some kind person at 3:30 this morning letting off fireworks 💥.
Love and crafty hugs to all,

  11. Good morning Sue
I was lucky enough to get the Christmas shadow box as a gift, it's only when you get your dies in your hand that you see the amount of detail in each set. This birthday shadow box is going to be my next shadow box purchase! Although you've used the same dies on each card they look so different and equally as beautiful.

  121. Hi Sue. A late visit for me today due to the awful weather we had last night, gale force winds, followed by the first snow of the season - not a happy bunny! At least there were no fireworks going off so pets happy. Two beautiful cards, love the second one especially.
Congratulations Norah on the arrival of your great niece. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

  132. Good Sunday evening Sue and crafty friends
Sue I don't know how you could possibly think of doing a double day post after all the hard work you put in over the last few days. You really are too good to us. I love your shadow box dies and these two cards are glorious. I can't imagine how much foam tape you used on the shaker card it I'm glad you did, it's fabulous.
Congrats to great aunt Norah, sounds funny saying that as we have an auntie Norah in my family, my great great aunt.
Hope everyone either enjoyed bonfire night or coped with it. We stayed in with our little dog who was furious with all the loud bangs, running round barking all night and they were going off till the early hours. They're still going off now!!
Sending hugs to all my crafty friends. Stay cosy tonight, it's freezing outside brrrrr.
    Love and blessings

  133. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I am a huge fan of the shadow box collection so today's double delight has been a real treat. I never tire of the design because it can be changed and mixed up to suit the recipient....and with all the newly released accompaniments the possibilities are now endless. It's very difficult therefore to have favourite designs or concepts so you have presented quite a challenge. If pushed i favour card one simply because the colours used are absolutely delicious....and i would never have thought to use the birthday part of the happy birthday either. That being said, the shaker card is divine and such a fun idea, love the sequins! I've put both cards safely in my must do file for later after i wade through my Christmas cards.
Still feeling hungover with a persistent migraine, hoping it starts to ease soon so limiting my time on ipad.
June, so glad your wound is showing signs of improvement, hopefully one dose of antibiotics will be enough to clear it. Hope you have a pain free nights restxxx
Elaine, sorry to hear Andrew is struggling, maybe the hospital can give him an alternative that wont upset his digestive system. Sending you both hugs.
Yvonne, hope you're feeling better honey, migraines are a killer and can really affect your day to day life, my sympathies to youxxx
Norah, huge congratulations on your new arrival, i hope you have the new addition collection, they would be so handy right nowxxx
Hugs to Pat, Pam, P, Maria, Theresa, Frances, Wheely, Alison, Deb C, Beth, Rebecca, Lorraine, Lynda, LInda and anyone i may have forgottenxxx

  151. Sue, this just may be my favorite group of dies you have done. I have one of the baby dies, but really need (want) a birthday one soon. These will be really successful. I'm sure of it. Update on Emily. Her bad day last Saturday was something that can't be explained. But we're trusting that God had her but decided to give her back. I believe we can change His mind with a lot of prayer. There's no other explanation for why Emily is still with us. But she is thriving, eating like a horse and will be going back to Duke Thanksgiving weekend to get the central line out. God is so good. The hardest part is she can't get close to anyone, including grandparents. Her sisters even stay at a distance from her. Just wanted to give an update as I know you and your followers have prayed for our precious Emily. Thank you. Myra from Florida
