Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!  A triple panel card using a milk and sky blue card combo for today's offering.  I started by embossing the background using the Regal Checkerboard embossing folder.  I cut it into three equal panels and matted them with a thin sky blue card mat, then onto a larger milk and sky blue mat.  Next I cut the Bern die three times out of milk card.  I backed two of them with sky blue card and cut the centres out.  I added mounting foam then attached them to the background slightly overlapping the edges.  I turned that last die cut horizontally and glued the edges to the other dies.  Next I cut the Swiss Tag in blue and matted it with milk card.  I added it to the centre of the card and stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the tag.  I mounted it in the middle of the tag and added two small poppies on either side.  I made three more larger poppies and added them below the tag with satin ribbon and olive branches as accents.  I completed the card with a pierced milk mat, then a thin sky blue mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this card, you just need to leave a comment on this blogpost.    We will be announcing the winner a bit later than usual as there will be a die launch starting later this week.  The winner of this card will be announced one week from now on Wednesday the 29th.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine, how disappointing that Sarah's op didn't go ahead. Of course her safety is paramount but this little girl and her family have been through so much. I hope they have better news for you soon.
Elaine, wonderful that Andrew is home, lots of delicious food for him to build him up, hope his first night in his own bed was a comfortable one.
Tina and Mick, Tracey and Dad, thinking of you.
    Hugs to all.

  4. Adorable Sue, what more can I say. The colour combo seems so perfect together, there is nothing the milk colour card doesn't go with as a team and it just highlights the beauty of every die. The photo's you've taken show the beauty within this sample but in real life it must be a real WOW.
Looking forward to seeing your amazing samples of the gorgeous festive does, sending you hugs this Wednesday xxx

What a gorgeous card today, lovely colours and doesn't the poppy turn into a beautiful flower. It nearly fell into my basket last night when I was ordering a few dies, I had it poised in case I needed to make up the free p&p on the site I was using but a poppy stamp caught my eye and fell in instead! It will have better luck next time I'm sure! I'm looking forward to the festive collection, I've been good and I've not looked yet. Hope you have a lovely day.

Ps thank you my stamp set arrived yesterday, it's lovely. Xx
Elaine good to hear Andrew had a good nights sleep, my friend swore by rice pudding made with clotted cream when she was trying to build up her husband with high calorie food - she could feel the pounds piling on herself as she sniffed it and it tasted Devine! Xx

  90. Morning, Sue,
What a beautiful card!! It really cheered me up when I saw it as I've been feeling a bit down since my sis went back home on Monday. It hadn't hit me just how much I've been missing her since she moved across to the other side of the country.
I was meant to be going to the cinema this afternoon but as there's a dirty great black cloud hanging right over my house (no, it's not my mood lol)and it looks like it's going to hose it down, I'm going to have to cancel that as there's nothing worse than sitting for two hours in wet clothes is there...I'll wait for the DVD as they seem to come out as soon as the films leave the circuit these days don't they.
Still...it means that I can maybe try to sort out my craft room, which has been a depositary for all things kitchen since before I started to decorate...it sure beats gardening any day and who knows...I may even clear it enough to actually get some crafting done as well :)
    Happy Wednesday, everyone.

Theresa W, Marg hope you're both well, hugs x

Concert was amazing! Dark glasses and acoustic ear plugs did the trick. Ear plugs allowed me to hear each instrument so clearly. I wouldn't have lasted without either. Alice Cooper put on an amazing show. We had a terrific meal beforehand and we ate so much chocolate! We both live pretty clean so when there's a special occasion we like to spoil ourselves! The budget hotel room was ideal for a chair user, the staff were lovely and the cooked breakfast Sunday was fabulous. The train rides were very bumpy indeed so it's taken a toll and a half but the staff at the stations were brilliant, especially one young guy at Liverpool Street who was so helpful I'm writing to his employer to say just how impressed I was with the assistance I got from everyone, especially him. When I go home Mr W had brought Billy to the station to meet me. He was so well behaved and on command put his paws up on my legs to give me a kiss while I fussed him. Mr gave the lead to me and Billy was straight back to being my little helper. Understandable issues since so on bed rest but it was well worth it. We're hoping next time one of our favourite bands tour it's concerts so we can go. Festivals just aren't possible for my situation and my best friend's job (she's a high school teacher).

Not sure how I compressed all that! Sorry it was a long one. Sending hugs and best wishes to all Wilsonettes wherever you are in the world. Extra hugs to anyone who needs them.

I love the Regal Checkerboard embossing folder and how you cut it into three equal panels for the cards background. It makes the card. Great color combination, too. Another stunner.

  142. This is a really lovely card,Sue.

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while.

I lost Sooty to End stage Renal Failure 29 days ago. She'd been doing so well since the New Year, when we thought we were going to lose her, but started slowing down and not being able to walk so far around the end of April. It didn't occur to me that maybe she needed some more I.V Fluid treatment to flush her kidneys again. (This is what helped her survive at the End of December, when she was so seriously ill. The fluids along with her amazing strength of character and ability to live with Urea, Phosphate and other levels that were completely off the scale !!!
Some of the vets at the Practice hadn't expected her to survive into this year.
Five weeks ago, just before Osian's first birthday on 19th May, Sooty was clearly very ill and Ken (who was home for Osian's birthday ) and I considered her having the I.V Fluids again.
Having had several tearful phone discussions with vet Gemma, who was always so good with Sooty, we decided not to subject her to the treatment which would have meant leaving her at the main veterinary branch for up to 48hrs, where she would have been completely alone during the night.
Gemma thought that this time, given Sooty's recent blood test results, the fluids wouldn't work so well for her and might only give her another month. Hence our heartbraking decision.

Gemma came to the house on May 24th to put Sooty to sleep. She told my mam and I beforehand that becausee of Sooty's Renal Failure, that she might make some strange noises and it might take a little while for the injection to take effect.
I was kneeling down alongside Sooty, her head on my left hand. As soon as the injection was administered I felt her head go down and I knew that she'd gone. Gone to sleep for the very last time.
Sooty was laying in her little bed and Gemma laid a blanket over her, so she just looked as though she was fast asleep.
David my youngest son came over a couple of hours later after he'd arrived home from work and helped lay Sooty to rest in the back garden.(Ken was on his flight back to Dubai).
We laid her to rest curled up in her little bed, and planted a little Salix Flamingo tree above her.
I can't help thinking that I let Sooty down epically. If I'd actually thought to get her the I.V Fluid treatment at the end of April / start of May, then maybe it would have helped her and she'd still be here now...........

Sorry for my epic tale of woe but I felt I needed to share my grief at her loss.

I was very sorry to see several weeks ago that you'd lost your mum, Sue.
    Hope you're well.

Hugs and Best Wishes to all,

    Angela in S. Wales XX
