A Friend Like You

Good Sunday morning all!  I have just realised that I have hardly posted any cards using the Scattered Leaves Background, so I thought I would show you one today!  I started by cutting it in white then adding a sticky adhesive sheet to the back of it.  I pulled out the Gemstones gilding flakes and gilded the exposed sticky on the front of the die.  I used a Rubit Scrubit pad to refine the flakes and remove the excess.  I peeled the other side of the backing paper off and added a white piece of card to give the piece strength.  I cut the background two more times, then used spray glue to adhere them to the the original to build up some height on it.  I added Cosmic Lacquer to all the areas of the die cut, giving it a glossy look.  I set it aside to dry overnight, then cut one more background and added it over the top.  This last one hid any areas where I may have gotten the lacquer onto the die cut.  I used the Double Pierced Noble Rectangle die to make a wide frame for the background.  Next I stamped my sentiment and used the inner die to cut a white on white frame for it.  I added mounting foam to the frame and seated it over the sentiment, then into the middle of the framed background.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat and another white layer.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.

What a treat, what a truely stunning card. This background die was made for this technique it shows the full beauty of the design. I would love to be able to imagine what it would look like when it catches the light, I bet it goes from amazing beauty to exquisite at the blink of an eye. You do design the most beautiful dies Sue, put that talent alongside all the techniques you use to show their beauty, and we are treated to the most stunning array of spectacular samples, thank you.

An elegant card to brighten up anyone's day. Love the new technique, I have pots of gilding flakes that have been pushed to the back of the shelf, might get them out and have a good play.

Have a lot of catching up to do with past posts, time has slipped me by this year, one week just segues into another and before I know it, a whole month has gone never to return.

Healing hugs and little prayers to all in pain whether it be physical or mental.

  76. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, well I am late today, to be truthful I have only just got up and had a shower, I was absolutely knackered as have done a lot over the past days, first I went for a consultation at the hospital about my knee thinking they will advise the steroid injection which I do not want and he told me my knee is 'shot to pieces and needs replacing', so another op is in the offing, I really didn't want that but he said it would not last another 6 months and could go any time.

Then I went to the Clarity Open day on Friday, yes I know it is not Sue related but I do like the Groovi parchment system and incorporate a lot of that in which my cards which I do make with SW dies, I was shattered but learnt so much.

Yesterday my sister came round and so I didn't get a chance to do much, but was so tired this morning I read for a little while and then just fell asleep again, I must have needed it.

Anyway lets talk about the beautiful card today, I love it and the noble dies really do this card justice as does the leaves and the gilding flakes, love it Sue, another winner for you.

    Congratulations to all the winners.

Happy fathers day to all those fathers out there and those that are sadly no longer with us.

  89. So beautiful....my crafting friend is coming over again this week and we are going to play with the flakes....hope our projects turn out half as pretty as yours...

I'm so excited over a grand bargain I found yesterday. I am now the proud owner of the Spellbinder Platinum machine....or I will be when it arrives next week. It was such a great deal that my friend also wanted one, so I bought one locally for her and ordered the second one for the same deal online...there was only one in stock locally. Are you ready for this???? With coupons, we only paid $60 each for the machines. I even asked the store manager if I was understanding the coupon deal correctly and she said "yes, absolutely"!!! Amazing, huh? I'm still pinching myself. My old machine is on its last leg and only a matter of time before the handle breaks again. My Grand Caliber works fine, but it doesn't take my Bigz dies, so....happy dancing here.

Okay....congrats to the winners!!!! Have a great Sunday!

  117. Gorgeous card. Always like cards with gilding flakes but the added layers and the lacquer make this one extra special.
    Take care everyone.
