You're Amazing

Hi crafters!  I have been having a play with one of the  Stamps to Die For that match my die Wellington die.  I started by stamping the Lily Corner in black and cutting it out with the matching Wellington die outer cutting edge.  I coloured it with Distress markers (mostly Rusty Hinge,Mustard Seed, Forest Moss and Peacock Feathers), using a wet paintbrush to lift colour off in areas to create light.  I stamped the lilies again and hand cut the two larger ones , coloured them and added them back over the originals with a bit of mounting foam to raise them for dimension.  I used a white gel pen to add dots to make them into Tiger Lilies, as a suggestion that John Lockwod gave me.  John drew these beautiful flowers and his suggestion was spot on!  I stamped a sentiment and gut it out with an oval, inked the edges with Tumbled Glass and mounted it the upper corner with foam.  I created a backing piece for the stamped image by cutting both edges of a piece of coconut white card with the Dorado Gemini Die.  I wanted to add a bit more emphasis to it so I cut two more of the same die out of white card, but used both cutting edges this time.  I then glued them atop the original areas cut out of the white card so it gave more weight to the edges.  I matted it on to a larger piece of coconut white card, then added my usual pierced matting and layering to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Stunning card, love it. The sentiment right back at you Sue.
Weather seems milder today, it was so cold yesterday I thought we were back in winter.
Daily hugs to all. Hoping June and Tracey are still doing well. Missing our friends.

Another lovely card. The lilies really stand out and make you feel that Spring is here - unlike our awful weather. It was my birthday yesterday and I can't ever remember such bad weather on my birthday before- and I'm an old biddy.
Thanks for all your lovely ideas this week, again.

  13. Morning Sue. This is a beautiful card. The stamped image is lovely but once you have coloured it in it is gorgeous. The white pen just makes the lilies pop and makes them so life like. I dont know what is happening with this weather two weeks ago i set my strawberries in beautiful sunshine and ever since its done nothing but rain or snow. Yesterday was so cold and it snowed on and off all day. I have woke up this morning to another cold day with a covering of snow again i just hope the weather improves for the bank holiday weekend fingers crossed.
Take care everyone and have a lovely bank holiday weekend
    Best Wishes.

  20. We had a wonderful start to our week with a smile and finished it off with the most amazing Lilly, almost feels 3D Sue, really pretty, and brings so much colour to this freezing cold, snowy miserable morning in Lancashire !
After my full on day with my little grand-daughter, my struggle with the weather God's and a night with full on leg and feet cramps I've eventually caught up with yesterday's video tutorial. I have to admit I feel just like Maggie, in bits after a dreadful night ! Lol poor Maggie, if only I could come out looking as pretty - it's making me think that if you created Maggie for Maggie, Maggie must be a beautiful person through and through ☺ so this sentiment comes back to you both. For if there wasn't a Maggie there wouldn't be a Maggie.. ok I'm showing signs of dilarium so if off. Have a lovely day Sue xx

A really pretty card today....your ears should have been burning yesterday (my Mom always said if your ears are burning, somone is talking about you...LOL) anyway, an old friend of mine and I bumped into each other some weeks back (right after my hubby's surgery) and we've gotten together twice now to do some crafting at my house. She's quite a talented artist who has done some cardmaking--mostly stamping; but, she was not familiar with die cutting (boy did I feel smart)...so guess who I introduced her to???....YOU...and your beautiful dies. She's hooked!!! I so enjoyed showing her your dies and how beautiful they cut....she's coming again next week....we've only scratched the surface. Have a great weekend. Jan D., Florida, USA

I too love lillies and many many years ago used to grow them in my garden until I learnt that they were poisonous to cats and dug them all up. If I have lillies indoors now I make sure that I remove all the stamens and pollen before putting them on display.

  112. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
This is a pretty card Sue with your beautifl lilies on it looking so life like in colour and design, so really it is a well done to you and to John for designing them. I do like who sometimes you make a plainer card with your stamps and just cutting around the outline of them with your die. Todays offering is one of those that you could give just as how are you doing type of a card. I was lucky to get a " Missing you" card from a very dear friend just the other day and i have to say it fair made my day. Thank you flower for inspiring us yet again with your wonderful designs and inspirations. I hope you are missing the snow, we have it on my beloved hills where it is beautiful and it can stay there for as long as it wants. This morning i woke up to the top two thirds of my lovely hills looked liked they had been iced as you couldn't see anything through the snow on them, but it is fading back again now. It's a bit cool today but that's ok if we get a beautiful summer that keeps it lovely for numerous weeks with it raining during the night to keep the flowers and gardens pretty and filling up the water stations. I hope that you all have a lovely day, with hugs going to Tracy, Wheely and anyone else that could just do with some, they are there for the taking,

  121. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I really love it when you showcase your colouring skills, you are a true master stamper and colourist. Whilst the image is stunning , it's your expert colouring and delicate shading that brings the stamp to life- the orange is very eye catching and the inclusion of the white dots add an authenticity to the image. The final touch of decoupaging the flowers is ingenious.....I'm a real fan of decoupage, I used to spend hours every night cutting images, gluing and glazing, it's very therapeutic. I love the simplicity of the card, it's clean lines and non fussiness really enhance the star of the show, the beautiful lilies. I'm a fan of lilies, however they're poisonous to pussy cats and therefore we can't have them in the house....Brodie likes nothing more than chewing the leaves and petals of flowers and plants, he must be a budding veggie:-)

Apologies for my absence of late, but a mixture of ill health and family commitments made it really difficult to keep track of the blog other than to pop by and view Sues fabulous cards. My tooth infection and exposed nerve really knocked the stuffing out of me, the pain was a weary and the longer it went on the more drained I felt. I was surviving on painkillers, soft foods like soup and custard and fractured sleep....not a diet I would recommend:-) I heard all these horror stories about root canal surgery and thought it best just to sacrifice the tooth and have it removed....my dentist had other ideas though! I had the surgery a couple of days ago and apart from some residual bruising and tenderness the pain has all but gone:-)
My uncle thrust himself upon us last weekend whilst I was in the midst of my misery, he's eighty and very demanding, likes to be waited on hand and foot. However, apart from his near obsessive possession of the tv remote control and constant minor league football, it was enjoyable...after losing my dad you appreciate older family members more than ever before.
    Dragonsnap2, belated birthday greetingsxxx
Gloria, hope the weather is kind for your daughters wedding tomorrow, enjoy the dayxxx
Theresa, no, I'm afraid Yvonne and I hadn't absconded on a cheeky little cruise, mores the pity, but is the world really ready for us to actually meet in person? Methinks not!:-)
Huge hugs to all my blog buddies, I've missed you all this past week and hope you are all wellxxxx

  124. Hello Sue,
What a beautiful card today, I must admit that stamping and colouring are my favourite techniques, and the lilies are gorgeous.
June, this is certainly taking it out of you, Get Well Soon.
Laine, you've had a rough time, I'm glad things are improving.
    Love to all,

  125. Hello Sue.

Beautiful Card, lovely stamp and I really like the Dorado Gemini Die. Sorry if I am being a little pedantic, I don't wish to offend you, (how someone colours their flowers is their business) and I don't know what John Lockwood was growing but the spots of a Tiger lily are a dark orange to black colour and are only on the inside of the flower, so you only see them when the flower is fully open. Thanks for sharing.

    Best wishes

  127. Hi Sue. A stunning card today, I think I saw it on TV. Love the colours and I particularly like the way the border dies nestle in nicely with the die from the main element.

  141. Lovely card. Your fabulous stamping and colouring in recent months has even inspired me, a non-stamper, to try my hand at stamping. Lots more practise needed but it's improving.
Hope the sun shines on your daughter's wedding on Saturday, Gloria.
    Belated birthday wishes to Dragonsnap2.
