Pierced Rose Background

Hi crafters!  No sentiment on this one so I have named after the die!  I cut the Pierced Rose Mini Background out of gloss white card and embossed it.  I added a sticky adhesive sheet to the back of the die, then used a piece of decorative paper from my Classic Elegance Paper pad behind that.  Next I inked a piece of white card with a Forest Moss Distress ink and re cut the background.  I removed all the pieces that were not leaves and then pushed the leaves into place on the original (slightly moving them into place for a better fit).  The remaining background area that had sticky adhesive still exposed, I used Diamond Snow glitter and burnished it into place.  I made two dimensional roses from the Sweetheart Flowers set and sugared them with Iced Snow.  I added them to the corner and seated them on some white seam binding I tied into a messy bow.  I added two triple pearl stick pins as accents.  I would have made some nice matching stick pins, but this card was made while I was demoing at the trade show earlier this year and I had those in my demo unit! LOL  The card was completed with a simple white pierced mat, a thin wisteria mat and a final white layer.  The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x  7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  19. Such a lovely card for today Sue. I'd have to use some other paper to piece with though as I'm still stroking your's and John's and Phill's paper pads lol. It's a lovely size die to do this with especially for numb deformed fingers lol I can even begin to tell you how many times I've tutted and sighed at myself when I've attempted this technique with the smaller designs lol.

My sentiments exactly 're the intertwining circle striplet die, I also didn't think it was 'my taste' until I saw your samples and those that the ladies show on the fb group and I had to go and get it ( the bones in my arm are healing well after being twisted behind my back) lol
Talking of healing, I hope you are slowly healing after AP Sue, and my thoughts to our Tina E too and last but not least to our June, hope your health improves soon June, not what you need you poor love.

Sending my usual hugs to you Sue this Friday xx

What a lovely card...it just goes to show that if it's interesting enough, ou don't always need a sentiment :)
Pam - I may well take you up on your offer of die cuts before I can get the set myself. That's really kind of you :).
I hope everyone has had a lovely Friday, despite the weather and I hope you all have a great weekend.

  118. Love all the details in this card, especially love how I've seen you do your flowers, adding the extra sparkle, just makes it!

One of my sister lives in Houston where they've had such devastating flooding. She's okay, but the whole city is all but paralyzed. One or two of the many riding stables were hit by a flash flood where they usually don't get flooded, so there wasn't time to get the horses to higher ground. We were horse owners and lovers for many years, so I've just been glued to the videos of the rescues, some are heart stopping. You can google Houston flooding horse rescues, thankfully I think they've all made it so far.

  119. Hi Sue, a really lovely card, it's so pretty. This die is one that has been on my wish list for ages and I think it will have to be moved up a notch or two:-)

'P' - just enjoy your time with Miss Pushy aka Miss Hyper, sympathetic purrs for her from my girls.
June S - hope the antibiotics clear up the infection soon.
Lillian - sorry for your loss, thinking of you and your family.

Wishing everyone the best week-end possible.

  120. Good afternoon Sue and the WIlsonettes,
This is a lovely card Sue and it could be made for any occasion the fact that it doesn't have a sentiment on the front. I have splurged before your new dies came out and bought the New Zealand set from Hochanda so it has come late this afternoon and i am so looking forward to me time to start using it especially that border which is beautiful, stunning, what a size. I also got the lacy leaves as well as i think that die is so sweet. YOur card today so much reminds me of a beautiful wedding card with its gorgeous white roses and little pearls. Thank you Sue for a superb piece of inspiration that we could make for quite a few occasions.
Ladies thank you, i had the most wonderful time away and the only thing wrong with it was it wasn't long enough, it was over oh so fast. If you ever get the chance to meet up with others from here on the blog, please just do it as you will meet the most wonderful friends that you will wonder why it took you so long to take that first step and they can only enrich your life that's for sure. I don't know if Rory is wearing his headphones so that he can shut me out from rabbiting on and on or whether he is just deciding to use the new ones that he got at Christmas but i think it's the first some how, lol. Have a great day every one and hugs on their way to June (Smith) sorry you're not so well flower and i hope that your antibiotics clear away your infection as soon as possible for you flower, Lilian - oh i hope that at least you can feel a bit better healthwise for Monday flower as it is tough enough at any time but even worse when you are ill to deal with such heartache, Tracy - i am so pleased for you flower that you have come through the worst part and now just to get on and live your life to the full and happiest you can flower, Tina E - take each day as it comes dear lady but my thoughts and prayers are still with you and your family, and Wheely - I hope that the migraines stays at bay as i know just how bad they are flower and wouldn't wish them on anyone. You'll feel better once you've had your hair all tickety boo as it used to be lovely seeing someone coming in to get their hair sorted but they were a bit under the weather for to be able to preform magic and transform them, it just seems to give a much needed lift or boost to you. The TV reporter and cameraman was for BBC 2 i think on Tuesday something about parliament questions about the forth coming elections, nothing exciting flower but it is the first time that i have had one man kneel down in front of me never mind that both did, lol.

  130. Hi Sue & Wilsonettes*

Sorry I’m late commenting but it’s been rather a hectic day, not a moment for me to stop & take a breath, could be late commenting again tomorrow as I am shopping & trying to find the last few accessories for the 3 functions coming up - the first one is 4th May so I’ll have to pull my socks up as time is flying by so fast, have also had to spend a fair bit of time searching for Mr B’s retirement present – boy that was hard but I think I found something he’ll like (I hope)

I have loved the Pierced Rose die from the first moment I saw it & was lucky enough to draw it out of the hat a little while back, I’ve had a little play to see what combinations (backgrounds/colours etc) come up best but this sample of your card is really gorgeous, your background paper is stupendous & re cutting the die to produce the leaves is such a whizz idea. The flowers, well gorgeous too if I may say so as I would never of thought of using the sweetheart flowers to turn into the perfect rose.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful & stunning card & so very inspiring Sue, a true testament to your amazing design talents. I’m sure you know that I’m always very grateful & very appreciative. X x x

Well my friends I am absolutely pooped lol & I think I’ll be scooting off to bed pretty soon & haven’t had a chance to reply to any comments, but I will try tomorrow x x x

Take care my friends Love ‘n’ (((hugs))) to you Sue, to dear friends & to all lovely Wilsonettes Beth B x x x x x

  131. Hi Sue,
Lovely card. Quite a coincidence, I've just been experimenting with the different cosmic shimmer white glitters on various backgrounds. I only have iced snow (which I love) and diamond snow which I'm not so sure about.

  140. Hi Sue. WOW, WOW, WOW !!! I absolutely love this one !!! It is gorgeous Sue !!! The pierced Roses Background die is now getting very close to the top of my huge wish list. I love how you have used one of your paper pad designs behind the die and covered it with glitter. The paper piecing of the green leaves looks fab to. The card looks fantastic finished off with the beautiful Rose made from the sweetheart flowers and the stick pins. I think adding clusters of small pearls to the centres of the Roses really make them stand out and adds a romantic feel to the card. I think this would look great as a Wedding or Anniversary card. Very elegant and sophisticated. Thank you for today's gorgeous card. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x

  142. Evening Sue
Love this card and I remember when you did a sort of variation on Hochanda - equally gorgeous. The soft colours and the glitter make it such a delight and would be so suitable for any age x
I had fully intended to comment much earlier but that plan went out of the window - let me explain x
The plan was to give my mum a quick ring about 8, then comment in time to watch a programme about The Flying Scotsman at 9. Anyway, things started well and I phoned my mum at 8 but my dad answered as my mum was having an early night. I asked him if he would be watching the Flying Scotsman programme to which he said of course as he really is a bit of a train fan especially when it involves steam. Well our conversation turned into a real reminiscing session with a lot of 'do you remember when'.
We had many trips to the National Rail Museum when I was a child. So the chat with my dad started with us talking about trains but we covered most of the family holidays as well as many other trips and shenanigans.
They say time flies when you are having fun and we spoke for over an hour by which time the programme had started and I still had dishes to sort.
I did watch said programme on ITV +1 and it was worth the wait.
Consequently I am signing off tonight without reading your comments for which I apologise - blame my dad x
I will catch up with your news over the weekend but will send you all love and hugs and say goodnight.
    Crafty hugs
