Faux Letterpress Technique

Hi crafters!  If you love the look of letterpressing, but haven't tried it, this technique is very similar but ever so simple to achieve!  I hope you enjoy the video.

The finished dimensions are 8" x  9 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  14. Good morning Sue. Love this technique, it looks so effective. Fantastic card and video, it's great to be able to craft alongside you. Again, the only thing I have from this demo is the inkpad, but the great thing about your dies is that they're so adaptable I'm sure I'll be able to use some that are in my collection.
Tracy - you're doing brilliantly, keep looking after yourself and don't be in too much of a rush to go back to work, build up gradually. Wheelybad - sounds like a marathon sewing session but well worth it. Hugs to all. Sue XXX

  16. Morning Sue. So nice to see you not struggling with the Platinum for once, you certainly need a Sue Wilson friendly set to work on in the tv studio !
Now this IS my kind of letter pressing, easy to do without any unforseen booboo's when under inking the folder. Love this card, and the dies from the borders to the centre focal point are beautiful. Whenever I sit and watch your video day's you make me want to go to my craft shop and spend, then I realise she doesn't take buttons as payment lol.
Talking of booboo's - guess who forgot to tape down the back of 3 layers of card when triple stamping with the heart die yesterday ? Yep, you got it in one guess lol, think i'll blame it on the crohns flare up that made me feel unwell all day and I tried crafting through it to try and lift my spirits to ignore how I really felt, guess it didn't work as it took my concentration so I completely messed up lol. Oh we'll, I'd stamped the flower heart twice so I sat and coloured that in for something easy to do so at least I didn't feel lazy and didn't give in to how I felt Steph 1 - crohn's 0 😊

Have a good day Sue sending hugs.

  61. Morning Sue,

What a fantastic idea - I will definitely be trying this technique out just as soon as I get the chance! It particularly appeals to me as it gets rid of the need for the clean up operation that follows the normal letterpress technique; less time cleaning means more time for crafting, what more could we ask for?! :D

I also love the look of the Brisbane dies being offset - it's inspired me to go through my collection and see what some of the other dies look like when offset together.

As always, thanks for the inspiration!

  70. Morning Sue. What a stunning card today (of course it is - it's blue and white). This is a really interesting technique. I do like the effects achieved using the letterpress technique, but I do get fed up having to clean the embossing folders afterwards. This is so much better and easier to clean up.

    Hi Sue,
Clever alternative to letterpressing and one I've used successfully ever since I watched your video. Your card is really lovely, reminds me of Wedgewood pottery - must be the blue colour.
I haven't got the Australian border but will sort of copy the layout with others I've got. That's the beauty about your dies, they'll all work beautifully together.

  73. Hi Sue, love this card and the faux letterpress technique, it is much cleaner to do! I have seen you use the Wellington die in so many different ways that it really has got to go on the list :-) Great video as usual and although the Platinum machine looks good I don't think I have room on my desk for one. If in future the GC gives up I may have to think again especially as I believe they will be converting it to an electronic machine.

Sylvia - what an awful thing to happen, hope you can get it sorted out quickly.

  83. Love the inking technique....so much easier than having to clean an embossing folder. Will have to check out the Snow Cap ink pad...I love stamping white onto dark colors or kraft, but the brands I've tried in the past have been prone to drying up...don't know what it is about white inks that causes this to happen. Adirondack is a brand I like, too.

I noticed you have a new machine for cutting and embossing...cool.

It's five in the afternoon and there is brilliant sunshine...although the clouds are beginning to fill the sky and the weather programme on my laptop is telling me that, for the Truro area at least, there's going to be rain every day until the end of NEXT week!!! If that's true it looks like I'll have time to play in my craft room...a win, win situation lol.

  119. Hello my lovlies, so sorry to have been absent for so long. I am not sure why it has worked out that way.
I loved all of Sue's shows over the weekend and have them all recorded. I bought the beautiful embossing folder that has the roses and pin points so I am looking forward to using that. I also got my first pot of cosmic shimmer glue :)
Love today's card especially the deep blue Sue, thanks.
I hope everyone is doing ok, I will try to catch up over the next few days.
Wishing good things to all xxx
