Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello there!  Today's giveaway card uses a my Peek A Boo technique that shows a stamped image on two levels.  I started the card by preparig the background.  I used the Ornate Octagon Striplet decorative insert die three times to cut the design into a piece of Iris card.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension.  Next I stamped the Scrolls and Squares stamp to die for in black on to a piece of coconut white card.  I cut it out with the Alexandra die and inked through the die with Shaded Lilac distress ink.  Next I used the decorative insert die to cut the design out of the  piece.  This die cut through some of the stamped image so that it was lost when the fall away pieces were removed.  Next I stamped the image again and lined up the top piece so that the pattern showed through the cut out areas, then taped my outer die back into place to cut the bottom piece out so that they matched.  Once cut, I added mounting foam to raise them, but it still allows the image to feel complete because you can see through the cut out areas on the top die cut, thus the peek a boo effect.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out to add to the centre of the die cut.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, a thin Iris mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 1/4" in size.  Please leave a comment if you would like to be included in the drawing to win this card.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  26. Lovely card, Sue, such a different look from Monday's though using the same striplet. Sounds a bit complicated with lining up the stamping, but as ever perfection!
Tracy - sure you'll be forgiven for the stamp mishap but we've giggled along with you.
Muriel - yes, daffodils, crocuses out and snowdrops very late although a mild winter here in west Wales. Be glad to see some dry weather, had the strange sun phenomenon thing yesterday. Luvverly! But need more. Could export mud!

I'm so pleased to be back. Absent for a week and seriously missed you. And what a fabulous delight to come back to. I do love the Alexandra die and the stamp is beautiful. Wonderful colour and a striplet thrown in for good measure. Perfect. Big love and hugs being sent your way x
Last time I commented I said that the flu bug had returned with a vengeance. And I was so right. I've had a tickly and oh so persistent cough which is now getting better but I have pulled all the muscles in my chest and left side with all the coughing so have been pretty miserable and feeling rather sorry for myself. Thank goodness the cough is now easing but I am still in quite a lot of pain.
Going to sign off for today. Not slept very much at all for a week so the fatigue is now my companion for the foreseeable.
LAINE - just want to point out that you are safe and protected from my sarcastic quips and wisecracks for a wee while but be warned I will be back with a passion x

  144. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

The first thing that catches my eye about today's beautiful card is the colour, it's stunning and so striking, fast becoming a favourite. You never disappoint with your weekly giveaway cards, they are spectacular and would grace any adoring fans home quite superbly. I am really loving the use of triplicate striplets as a background, I will definitely be investing in a few of the newer releases in my own attempt at recreating your genius. The peek a boo effect is ingenious , I love it ,though I admit that I had to reread the instructions just until it sunk in how it was achieved....what an idiot!....I'm not sure if I have any stamp/ die combinations that will recreate this look so what better excuse than to buy all of the elements....it has to be done!:-)
The glorious, if a bit chilly weather is persisting...probably because I haven't needed to venture out.....but no doubt on Friday when I have my manicure appointment the next weather front named Keith or Kevin will arrive on our shores:-)
I've had a quiet day tending to my sick Mum who has a chest infection and high temperature....she's still managing to smoke 20 a day though:-(....I'm playing the dutiful daughter which doesn't come naturally to me:-) but she has COPD and the situation can easily get out of hand. I've been left in charge of Brodie and Darceys new eating plan and the responsibility weighs heavy on me...no pun intended....having to count out their biscuits and prawns seems harsh but Brodie is getting a spare tyre and it is all our fault. You can kill them with kindness but when he sits on the table , green eyes pleading and pawing at me for his prawns my heart melts......
Talking of our fur babies Alison, I'm thinking of little Scamp and her appointment tomorrow, hope all goes wellxxxx
Yvonne, lovely to see you back honey, you are so right, I have missed the sarcasm, barbed comments and borderline offensive behaviour usually characteristic of your posts. Hopefully you will be feeling perkier soon cos it's no fun feeling poorly:-(

  150. Hi Sue,
Love the striplet dies and this card really shows them off well. Whoever wins this will be very lucky indeed.
Well I spoke too early about Scamp being settled in her cage! Today, as I was trying to wipe up some water in the cage, the little tinker got out and ran upstairs! How on earth she managed to get up the stairs I have no idea but I'm sure it can't have done her fracture any good! I'll probably get told off by the vet tomorrow for letting her escape!
Love and hugs to everyone, love Alison xxx

  163. Hi Sue

What a pretty card! The stamp is stunning and I'm a big fan of the octogan striplet. It looks purple on my screen, which is always good. Hope each day is getting a tiny bit easier, I have thought about you and your family every day even though I've not been here, big hugs xxx

Laine, you clearly aren't having the easiest time, please don't push yourself too hard though I have the feeling it's a close run thing as to whether the one who tries your patience the most has two legs or four! Big hugs xxx

Alison, cuddles for Scamp, at least she made a break for it after nearly a week and not a day! I bet your heart skipped a beat... But hopefully it means she's healing well, big hugs to both of you XXX

Yvonne, I fully appreciate where you're at, sending big hugs and hope that some energy comes out of somewhere for both of us, big hugs xxx

Lynda, very big hugs for you and those with fur and feather from both Billy and myself XXX

Tracy, the countdown continues. Hope Tuesdays session wasn't too hard on you, big hugs xxx

Molly, Melody & family thinking of you all, big hugs XXX

To all of my blog friends, those mentioned and those not, a big hug and a happy smile. You all have made my life a much, much happier place than it would have been these last 20 something months, This little community is a real lifeline and I'm thankful for all of you and to Sue especially xxx

I haven't done much since I last posted, lots of being still, lots of being sleepy, the brace has been a worthwhile experiment but I need to get something that doesn't leave sore spots in other places. I gave myself a migraine the other day laughing too hard after singing along to the "Shake n'Vac" song, problem was I couldn't stop laughing as I found it funny that it happened, had to wait to stop laughing before I could take the meds! That night something went pop deep in my neck and it's been pretty uncomfortable since there be it there, the head or in outlying areas. I know I need to go push the GP but at the minute I have no energy to fight and argue for what I need, I need to fight a few other corners too but at the minute I'm just doing the minimum I can in order to get by, hence my intermittent presence.

Time for bed and back to sleep, been awake since 11:15pm after all! Billy went in the garden before I started this so that is done and dusted. I hope to see you all as soon as I can, in the meantime I wish you all good things, happiness and time to craft :-) take care of yourselves, hugs to all with lots extra for those who need them,

    T x
