Best Wishes

Hello crafters!  Another technique sort of background on today's card.  Start by embossing a piece of wax paper in the Bed of Roses embossing folder.  Next, you need to place the embossed wax paper between a couple of pieces of white gloss card.  It has to be gloss for the best results and the glossy sides need to be touching the wax paper.  Next iron the card for a few minutes which will melt the embossed pattern from the wax paper onto the gloss card.  Usually there is one side that will come out a bit better than the other, but they can both be used for further projects.  Ink over the card when it cools and watch the pattern appear.  I thought it would be interesting to take it a step further so I covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet after I dried the ink thoroughly.  Then I micro beaded it for additional texture.  I cut a multi- layered frame using both sets of the Double Pierced Rectangle Noble dies and adhered it over the background.  I made a pretty flower from the Perfect Peony set and inked the edges to match the background using Decadent Denim Colour Cloud ink.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags, then seated the flower on the end and embellished it with leaves and two Splendid Swirls cut out of milk card.  I added two glittered butterflies cut from the Delicate Garden Frame die set.  I completed the card with my usual pierced mat, a blue mat and a final milk coloured mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  67. Hi Sue.
What a fabulous addition and idea added to an already beautiful background, your idea's are just beyond me I have to say, what 'goes off' in that artistic mind of your's that makes you think - I know, I've made this background with gloss card, folder and wax paper, heated it and inked it now I'll see what micro beads look like added to the top - how do you get to see this in your minds eye Sue ? It's incredible I have to say. I've had the card for year's since I first saw this technique, always have wax paper so I have to try it (I've said that so many times now) !!
I really must get another set of your pierced square frame dies as I just love the look you achieve and it's impossible for me to get the desired effect with just the one set which is such a shame, I've played and played but they just don't overlap enough to make a nice neat frame like onto days stunning card (unless I'm doing something very wrong) !
I think this week I need to have a play with the two recent newish backgrounds, this plus the tissue paper that I still need to watch !
Weather looks so deceptive, the sun looks so inviting but the frozen Icey sparkles bouncing off the paths make it another day of hibernation.
So I'll watch the tissue video and send my love and thoughts your way Sue.

  116. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What an absolutely stunning card, I love everything about it, particularly the technique used for the background- I saw you demo this on Hochanda I think and found it fascinating, my only query being can a normal iron be used or does it have to be a specialist craft iron? It seems fantastical that you can transfer a design from wax paper onto card so easily. The inclusion of micro beads adds texture and dimension, superb! Much like Tracy, I have un unused container of micro beads that are begging to be loved and opened:-)
What did we ever do without the Noble range? Life before was certainly a lot more laborious and challenging that's for sure, they provide an altogether crisper and more professional finish to a card. You are surely the best at creating paper flowers, I bow to your superiority:-)
It's a gorgeous sunny day in Stirling which raises even the gloomiest spirit:-) I am toying with the idea of venturing into my craftroom again for the first time since before Christmas- I have lost my mojo and enthusiasm lately and I know that the best way to boost your mood is to create. It provides a great distraction and under the circumstances I need one. I wonder if Sue has found solace in her crafting since her Mums death? Everyone has different coping mechanisms, there is no right or wrong I guess.....
Brodie and Darceys diet is proving a challenge because it's so hard to keep track of who's eating what- Darcey is in the habit of persistently asking for packet feeds to be opened only to give a cursory lick and then reject it:-( she's only 5 kgs which isn't much above her healthy weight of 4.5kgs and she doesn't overeat it's more a case of she doesn't get the same exercise that she once had before we moved to a built up area....maybe I should get a cross trainer or personal fitness coach to put them through their paces:-)
Izzy, what a challenge, I don't envy you, there's so much pressure to create a masterpiece when a special occasion is involved, good luckxxx
Tracy, I'm so glad that tiredness is your only obstacle, many of us would love to have a valid reason to sleep with impunity but it must get annoying when it takes over your day to day plans and lifestyle. I'm sure your bear it with your usual strength and fortitude, you're a real fighter!xxx
Wheely, hope you're having a better day today and winning the battle against the migrainesxxxx
Crafty hugs to Beth, deb c, Maria, Rebecca, Jan, Lorraine, Linda, Theresa, Saba, melody and Pam plus special cuddles to my buddy Yvonne who may be suffering from her excesses on Saturday night....either that or her absence can be explained by an arrest for breach of the peace and crimes against fashion!:-)

    Love and crafty hugs

  138. So much work has gone into what appears to be a simple, but beautiful card. Like others I don't understand how you come up with your wonderful ideas but I am thankful that you do and are happy to share them. You must be finding things very tough at the moment so please know my thoughts are with you and I hope you find solace in happy memories.

Obviously I wish the same for my dear namesake. Hopefully the craft room may also help.

I have been to the cinema to watch Deadpool. I needed cheering up as my daughter has said she cannot come home for a few days as her brother's behaviour upset her so much she was having panic attacks and was unable to sleep before work. I really miss her when she's not around.
I made a card in aqua and white using Sue dies, I also used mica powder and sticky sheet. It was great fun but took me so long because sitting at the table gets very uncomfortable quite quickly.
Wishing good things to all xxx

Oh my word, what a beautiful card. Micro beads - I believe it has been a while since micro beads made an appearance or am I mistaken? I do love the way they add that special something to the finished card. This card is no exception and is an exquisite example of your genius which we are so lucky to be able to share.
Big hugs Sue - I am thinking of you x
Ok, so I had a day of rest yesterday. Being an Ooompah Loompah was hard work. The party on Saturday evening was a huge success and a fabulous time was had by all - especially the Birthday Boy so mission accomplished. I have to say 'Fat Pat' was the star of the show and caused much jubilation, as did my efforts of a luminous orange face and bright green hair. Quite a few friends did not recognise me. It was comical watching everybody in their costumes having serious conversations - surreal. Jake left a trail of red feathers from his molting boa and was highly entertaining when his g string snapped and he spent a good few moments trying to contend with the logistics of ladies underwear. He developed a very feminine and rather becoming gentle flick of his wig. His blue eyeliner, coral blusher and red lipstick looked stunning and like any normal, out on a Saturday evening, good time girl, he reapplied the lipstick at regular intervals over the course of the evening. I do not think I have laughed so much for a long time - it was just what the doctor ordered. Trying to remove the orange face paint when we got home was not so funny.
Consequently, the fatigue decided to pay me a visit and render me incapable of anything at all yesterday but you know what - sometimes one must push the boundaries and suffer the consequences. What a good job parties are not a regular event - that would be a disaster!!
THERESA W - keeping a close eye on my wardrobe - nothing missing - yet x
LORRAINE - these boys are a nightmare. I hope things settle down - huggles x
IZZY - I am feeling your pain - and some. Don't you love it when you get volunteered. May the force be with you x
TRACY - I to have a pot of microbeads - unopened - lol. Sleep and eat to your hearts content hun - just go with the flow. Hugs x
LAINE - been thinking of you hun. Rest assured there is no right or wrong way to deal with 'grief'. Everyone is so different. I am going to e mail Sue and ask her for your e mail address - I am presuming you don't mind. Try to keep smiling gorgeous girl x
Passed my bedtime now. Sending you all lots of love and happy thoughts.
