Christmas Double Days

Hello bloggers!  Two easy but showy Christmas cards for you today.  First up is the Noel card.  I started by embossing a piece of white card with the Twinkle Twinkle embossing folder for texture.  I matted it with a piece of French Navy card.  I cut the Noel die out of French Navy card and glued it to a piece of coconut white card, then sprayed it with adhesive   pray and coated it with Iced Snow.  I cut several of the different dies in the Snowflake sets, layering up the largest ones and adding them to the Noel piece.  I matted it in blue and added it to the centre of the card with mounting foam.  I cut a few more smaller snowflakes and added them to the background randomly as well as some pearl snowflakes too.  I matted it all with a white blue white mat sequence and added my usual piercing to the top white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

This second card was a quick demo from my Christmas shows to show how easy it is to adjust your embossing folders to suite your projects.  This Holly Frame folder was a bit to large for what I wanted so I embossed it on white card, then cut it about 2/3rds the way down the card.  I took out about 2 inches and taped it back together.   I added some white seam binding across the card to cover the cut line and added a messy bow at the side, topped with a crystal sparkler.  I used enchanted gold gilding wax to bring out the detail of the holly embossing and add an accent to the background.  I cut the Deboss Snowflake die for my focal element and added it to the centre of the card.  The Christmas Tree Greeting die was cut three times and stacked up for dimension, then sprayed with glue and glittered with Diamond Sprinkles.  I glued it into place in the centre of the card and added my extra mats and layers to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Sue, such beautiful cards today, absolutely fantastic.
Yvonne, yesterday's post made me smile. I hope the fireworks went off ok as it wasn't the best weather.
Aww Molly, I am so glad you are back to commenting on a Wednesday.
Shirley I think I saw you yesterday at the NEC.
Laine, I hope you are feeling brighter today.
Wheely, I hope your neck is better today.
I had a wonderful day at the NEC yesterday, I wore out myself and my purse. My fantastic friend and her lovely daughter took turns pushing me around in the wheelchair. I couldn't have done it without them. I bought a few presents for people and spent so much that some of it will have to be put by for my Christmas present from my hubby. The only Sue Wilson die I managed to get was bought by my friend for my Christmas present. Today I have to sort it all out but of course I am still very tired and achy.
Tracy, I hope you had good news yesterday my dear.

  102. Hi sue and crafty crew.
What beautiful cards I only wish I had half ur inspiration and passion!! Both cars are just so pretty.

Well ladies and any gents that are lurking lol
I've had a very few emotional days hence why I've not been on will go back later and read of course.

Yesterday I got my pathology results. All the cancer has been removed along with one cancerous lymph node. So I'm very relived to say the least. Anything else that may have travelled will be blitzed by the chemo and radio therapy which will follow. Only downside is the fact that triple negative cancer had a higher rate of coming back within 5 years but I can deal with that should it come again!!

On Monday coming I will go back to Glasgow and have my egg retrieval done as u r aware I'm having fertility stuff done at the moment.
My belly is so uncomfortable but I'm sure it will be worth it when I get the all clear several years down the line.

Anyways I'm always looking forward. And a few more pj days are in order.
I thank u all so much for letting me ramble and for the support uve given me the past few months since I disclosed my horrible news but it's onwards and upwards now!!!

Love to u all plus hugs too xxx

  104. Hi, Sue,
Beautiful cards today, they have brightened up this dull, dreary, windy and rainy day down here in Cornwall. I had to go out in the middle of the rain this morning to pick up yet another new pair of specs - they had to retest after I'd had the 'old' new ones just two weeks as I was feeling sick, dizzy and had raging headaches every time I put them on - I would have much rather have stayed at home in the dry and played with the dog lol.
Anyway, the first card - I love the snow over the sentiment and I've really fallen for the wonderful little pearl snowflakes, very pretty indeed. I love the tree on the second card and the background holly frame is beautiful. How clever Sue to cut it down to the size you wanted your card to be and then hide the join with ribbon.
Molly - welcome back to posting. You are amongst friends here. I'm so glad your dad has made Facebook safe for you and changed your email. Some people over there can be very cruel. They think they can get away with hurting people because no-one knows where they are. They are nothing but cowards! Now you will know that only people you trust will be able to follow you there, which is a good thing.
Melody - Continuing love to your and Francis. He's in the right place until he gets stronger, just tell him from me not to get too comfortable in hospital as the food isn't always too good lol. xx
Sue, as always, thanks so much for sharing your creations with us. Have a great weekend.

  125. Hi Sue, I love Fridays not the least because it means we get a double dose of gorgeousness. I love both of these cards. I don't recognise either of the embossing folders (have I been sleeping?) research is required :-) Really pleased to see the first card is backed with navy as opposed to black but on balance I think the second one is my favourite.

Tracey - so pleased your results were good and that the surgeons got it all. I am sure you will face whatever else is to come with the same fortitude that you have already shown.

Melody - I hope you were able to get Francis home today, thinking of you all.

Wishing everyone the best possible week-end.
    Frances

  138. Good evening lovely Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes!

Wow! It's Friday again already- the big C will be upon us before we know it....and I am still woefully behind in my card production:-(
Nevermind, I can rely on you Sue to provide me with plenty of extra inspiration and I for one will be sad to see the end of our double dose Fridays when the festive season passes.
Today's fare is typically stunning with the first offering tickling my fancy most...I can't get enough bling in my life! I bought this EF last week and have been looking for a project to use it on...I'll just have to splash out on the Noël die now, or be sensible and use one of my word dies from last year perhaps. I love French navy, it's a chic alternative to black and may suit those who don't care for black at Christmas.
The second beauty reminds me that I have the Deboss snowflake and haven't used it yet!!??!It works remarkably well as a backdrop to the sentiment tree, I would never have thought to use it in this way. So many fab ideas and so little time to utilise them:-0
I'm feeling a touch rough around the edges tonight, had another seizure earlier this morning but didn't have time to ease into the day, instead I had to get ready for a hospital appointment after lunch. I had an ambulance on order which arrived particularly early, leaving me sitting in the waiting room two hours before my appointment:-( Luckily I took my I pad with me just in case, so I passed the time reading some digital magazines. The consultant was very thorough and spent over an hour with me before doing a DNA test to determine whether my 8.5 cholesterol level was hereditary or as a result of other underlying factors- he's concerned at the risks involved after my previous heart attack but given my low weight doesn't want me to alter my diet...ever felt like a ticking time bomb?:-)
So, feeling pretty guilty that I haven't managed to make more of a headway on my Christmas cards. Mr Postie was very generous this morning by bringing me the three wise men striplet and the criss cross mask....though the various texture pastes are still in transit:-(....which means that tomorrow I can finish off a couple of cards that have been waiting for these components.
I have an embarrassing confession to make....I had been secretly hoping that another die release wouldn't be scheduled until after Christmas...call myself a fanatical Sue Wilson devotee?...I know, it's shameful, but my meagre bank balance cannot cope with the strain of Christmas as well as my urge to satisfy my thirst for everything Sue Wilson creates. I have just finished buying the festive collection and I've only made a partial dent in the Sept. Release so what are my bank manager and Mum going to say! I would sell my body but at 43 I'm sadly past my best so my only option is to sell a kidney, would ebay sanction bids on body parts?lol
But seriously, Sue has outdone herself yet again and we are spoilt for choice. Personally, I can't wait to see her own unique interpretation of the dies during her official blog launch:-)
Tracy, in the immortal words of The Krankies 'fandabidozy!' I am so pleased that your results are favourable, that must be a load off your mind. Now you can focus on the next stage of your recovery with your usual gusto! Good luck honey, we're all behind youxxx
Melody, I hope Francis was well enough to return home today, and if not, I hope that he is on the road to recovery and will be with you all soonxxx
Beth, Rebecca, hope you are both okay and just snowed under with life again, hope you will be back with us soonxxx
Yvonne, have you had plenty of rest today in preparation for you pyrotechnic spectacular tomorrow, or have you been cooking up a storm for your guests? Hoping for a clear night, I might be able to catch some of the action:-) I don't envy the choice between your boys proud moment and watching that gorgeous specimen of beefcake Gleb on Strictly....it would be a no brainier for me:-)

    Love and hugs everyone
