Wednesday Card Giveaway

Hello my crafty friends!  Here's another card from my recent Hochanda  Festive shows which is  on offer today.  If you would like a chance to win this one, just leave a comment to be entered into the drawing.  I started by cutting the Frosty Mini Background out of white card.  I used the oval from the Lattice Snowflake set to cut an aperture in the centre. I added mounting foam to the back to raise it.   I made a frame to go around the aperture by using the outer ovals from the Peeking Snowflake and the Lattice Snowflake set.  I mounted it with foam to raise it over the aperture.  Next I embossed a piece of Blue Dusk card using the Frosted Stripes embossing folder.  I mounted it behind my aperture.  I cut two of the Peace On Earth die, one in white and one in black.  I nipped away the "on Earth" part on both, leaving just the word "Peace."  I offset the black on behind the white one to create a shadow and mounted it in the centre of the aperture.  I cut several of the Classic Poinsettias in white, sprayed them with glue and coated them with Diamond Sprinkles.  I assembled them by offsetting two per flower and then adding a Black Dazzler in the centres.  I seated the larger flower on some white tulle and Bakers Twine in the lower right corner.  The smaller two flowers were attached in the opposite corner.  The finishing mats were added in my usual manner.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  8" in size.   I will announce the winner on Saturday's blog post.  All for now, Sue x

  19. Morning dear Sue.
This card is absolutely adorable. It's certainly THE card that would remain in view well after the 12th night when all the other's have been stripped of their ribbons, bells and any other embellishments we can find for our stash boxes, then recycled.
I just love each and every die used on this card Sue, the only thing is that I've smuggled in the odd new festive die, and without looking I can't remember which I've tucked away, I need to double check before I take my Silver Anniversary card to the post office as my little craft shop is in the same direction. I'm happy to report that my customer was pleased with the end result so it was worth spending 4 hours making sure every little detail was perfect and as I said to her in the email "she is paying for a service and if I don't forfill her request to my best ability then what's the point giving me the order when there are other crafters doing the same thing and many of them making cards so much nicer than I will ever be able to achieve " and I've seen many a stunning card on the DT blogs and on the FB page I visit 'your Ally Pally friends ' Sue.

Tracey - You bought a lump to my throat. I'm thinking of you so much.

I will sign off now with love and hugs.

Beautiful blue and white Christmas card that is so Peaceful, love it.
I am going mad with poinsettias this year specially thanks to you icing them, they look fabulous. I have covered them in glitter, glued around the edges and glittered, cut filigree and glittered them and used alone or attached to classic poinsettias, white, red, silver, gold and of course aqua. Never disappointed, thank you so much for the inspiration Sue

  85. Happy Wednesday Sue & WW,
Oohhh, pick me, pick me, pick me! Lol, but I would love to win this card! Of course who wouldn't? It's so beautiful & peaceful. I hadn't seen the potential in the EF used, but that's because I hadn't seen it used I guess! What can I say, when you demonstrate something Sue, I find I want it (which, barring winning a Wednesday card give away, means I want to purchase all the elements required to make it). Good luck to all in the drawing :)
Crafty Jackie, sure glad your husband is alright! I hope you are getting marvelous, recuperative sleep. It seems emotional stress can wear a person out just as much as physical labor can- sometimes even more so.
Tracy - you do have world wide support! I know I for one am sending daily positive thoughts your way and obviously so are many others :)
Melody, you and your family are also in my & many others' daily prayers. You've all been through so much and it's high time for some good news!
Laine, by this time, I imagine your mum is home safe and sound and has hopefully enjoyed her homecoming? I was just talking with a friend yesterday about how our cats behave when we get home after being gone for a couple days. It turns out hers and mine do much the same thing, which is to greet us eagerly at the door, only to give us a cold shoulder a few seconds later- and then ignore us for at least a couple hours. It's as if they are truly excited to see us, then they remember they are mad at us for leaving in the first place, so they have to punish us by depriving us of their company. Do Brodie and/or Darcy behave that way? Yvonne, your cooking sounds divine - even if I don't know what half of it is! Potatoes and crispy - that's always a winning combination in my book!
Maureen, I had no idea that's what Yorkshire pudding is, so thanks for the description. I believe many of us Americans only think of pudding as a sweet treat in various flavors that has a creamy texture. This was a complete surprise to me. Learned something new!
Ok, I can always come up with more things to say or ask, but I've fallen asleep 5 or 6 times (ha! I'm probably not the only one) since I started writing this. So before I dive headfirst in to my Tuesday night sleep, I'll sign off by wishing everyone as good of a Wednesday as possible! Zzzzz Rebecca in Colorado

    1. Oh Rebecca that's brought a smile to my face about the Yorkshire pudding story. When my hubby an I went to Florida once we stopped by this amazing pancake bistro place. So we both ordered our favourite maple raisin only to be asked did we want meat with it?
We both looked at each other an went eh?? Why would we want meat with it. Apparently that's what They like to have there. I'm like
No I just want the sweet pancakes with cream an ice cream!! Lol

Ooh I love this one! It's blue and white and Christmassy and I have all the dies . Unfortunately not the EF but I will use another one! Thanks to you making me look at dies differently I have cut off that Peace from Peace on Earth!! I've also cut some of the words from the Word Tree as well. They all can't be used but some can and it's so useful. Thank you for making me think! No mean feat that!!
Tracy - good for you! I love the international support too! That is so true. Wishing you all the very best and praying for continued strength.
Rebecca in Colorado - I am a Scot who lives in England and have done for 40years! Believe me there is a lot to learn about Yorkshire Pudding! I learned something just the other week! I learned that I should not have been washing the tin in which I bake my Yorkshire Puddings! You just wipe it out! Silly me - I have to say Saba was right! She isn't often you know!! Ha ha! Maureen was in that discussion too! I'm not saying anything else on the grounds I could be in deep trouble!
Melody - I'm praying for you all! You just need some relief from all this stress. Sending hugs to you and Molly.
    Take care everyone,

  116. Hi Sue, a gorgeous card that anyone would love to receive or even win :-) Like Myra I am lucky enough to have all the ingredients with the exception of the embossing folder, something that needs to be rectified asap.

Myra - did we swap places? I moved to Scotland over 40 years ago and even with a Scottish mother-in-law I felt I was learning a whole new language. My new colleagues would love to test me by throwing random words at me eg baffies. Luckily I did quite well but sometimes there was much laughter at my bewilderment.

Jackie - I hope hubby is ok and has no recurrence of the chest pains.
Melody - Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Tracy - You go girl! The positive attitude you have is just what you need.

Sue, what can I say about this card that hasn't already been said? It's gorgeous.
Rebecca, I've just realised that the batter for Yorkshire Pudding is like the batter for a pancake, but it's savoury, not sweet. Myra tries hard, bless her!!!! Saba is a Yorkshire girl (well woman), so she's the expert, but I'm the oldest so I know best ha ha.

Hi Tracy I found your story funny, what kind of meat? In the states, they have steak sometimes at breakfast but almost always have sausages and eggs with pancakes!!! That is how we love it in our house. Me I love when the maple syrup gets on my sausages there.

    1. Hiya.
I think they meant sausages etc.
yeah I don't mind a fried pancake with my Scottish fry up. But those are plain pancakes not maple and raisin or choc chip lol.
Those kind are for cream an ice cream

I dunno how I'd feel with maple syrup on my sausages either I might have to try that!! I'll let u know if I do! Lol x

  150. HELLO SUE & ALL THE WILSONETTES!
I am so sorry for being late with my comment but I have been trying, ALL DAY, to make some more Christmas cards (as I have quite a lot to do!) but I cannot decide which of the beautiful new Sue Wilson dies to use, as they are all stunning! Well, I think I will just have to use a different die for each card!
I hope that you & your family are well, Sue?
I am sorry that I've not posted for a while but I am in quite a lot of pain, due to bladder stones.....again! I have had them removed twice but they seem to want to come back, all the time! I was supposed to go to hospital in May but I have been told, now, that it could be November, as the urology department have cancer patients & transplant patients to deal with & they have to take priority (which I fully understand!)! I have not been following other people's posts, recently but I hope that you are all healed & in more comfort, now?
Sue, your card is absolutely stunning, as usual! I really like the colours you've used & the way you've done the sentiment! I would love to be in with a chance of winning a card like this!
I send my Love & Best Wishes to you all & I hope that you future days will be a lot brighter & happier!

  165. Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Well, it's that time of week when we gather together to appreciate the glory of Sues workmanship, strive to create something even mildly resembling it's perfection and dare to hope that we will be the lucky recipient of this mini masterpiece. I've given up all hope of ever being that lucky lady as I know that Yvonne's ability to persuade Sue of her suitability with cakes and sweet treats far outweighs any of my attempts at culinary prowess-poisoning Sue with me charred offerings is not the best way of procuring a card I'm afraid so I will have to be content at admiring from afar:-(
Today's prize is truly spectacular, I love the soft blue tone, very crisp and fresh and reminiscent of cold frosty mornings. The frosty background is a fave of mine and it's versatility makes it a worthwhile investment. What can I say about the poinsettias that hasn't already been said, sugaring them adds to the frosty theme. Really wish I had more of the sentiment dies, will have to remedy that oversight. One of your best tips was to offset the sentiment with black card, it really makes it pop. Good luck in the draw ladies.
I haven't been short of visitors whilst my Mum was away so loneliness wasn't an issue really, but I must admit that it is nice to have company in the house again...not to mention someone else to deal with the pussies diva strops.
Rebecca, you made me giggle in total recognition of our feline's peculiarities-Brodie was so excited to see Mum get out of her taxi, he shouted Mum!, and pawed the window purring loudly, excitedly running round her legs, jumping up on the table for a cuddle etc etc....for about 5 mins, then he became totally aloof, glanced at her with disdain as if to say 'how DARE YOU leave me!' It's comical to watch, they truly love to make us suffer for our abandonment don't they? He'd recovered enough by bedtime to sleep with her, waking her up during the night to kiss her on the lips.
Sam and Mary B, welcome back!
Steph, I requested to join your Facebook group in honour of Sue twice but with no success- you haven't had prior warning of my reputation I hope, I can provide references if it would help my application:-)
Frances, I'm a Scot born and bred but I'm ashamed to ask you, what are baffies?
Myra, having been brought up by a Yorkshire woman I was appalled to discover that you WASH your tin, that is sacrilege! Next you'll tell me that you use packet batter mix:-)
I had a good old giggle at the thought that Texan bars are drinking establishments, when they are a chocolate bar from the 1980's, I could have had days of fun misleading all our American friends if they hadn't already been enlightened by a fellow Wilsonette.
Off now to enjoy Bake Off final in the knowledge that Yvonne will be stuffing her face with sweet treats without me:-(

    Crafty hugs,

    Laine1972xxxx

  169. Hello Sue
Well I have finally returned from my sailing holiday and had a few days to catch up.
Today's card is stunning. Love your frosty poinsettias in fact I love everything about this beauty.

What can I say about Yorkshire Puddings. Both Maureen and Myra, thanks to my genetic makeup and advice, can now both make them to a certain standard. You see, you have to be a yorkshire lass to make them to perfection and despite the fact I now live in Germany I am Yorkshire born and bred, therefore my Yorkshires are something to behold. I'm rubbish at cakes though!!!

Melody, my thoughts and prayers are all for you and Francis at this time,

    Love and hugs for all

  173. Lovely, lovely, lovely, did I say lovely? Well it is, thank you for sharing, Sue.

I guess I need to google Yorkshire pudding, I don't think we have anything like it here in Texas. If someone had an easy recipe, I might have to try some. Here pudding is always a dessert. We've famous for frying lots of foods, which is probably bad for you. My sister in law from CA remarked we'd fry anything in the south, when we ordered her fried ice cream.

Funny about the Texan Bars, that you would have candy named after us, yet we've never heard of it. It's so fun to learn about how we're different in some ways, but deep down we're probably very similar. My husband was born and raised in Brasil, his folks were missionaries, and we've had some interesting cultural differences. When I first visited there, and they heard I was from Texas, I was asked several times if I owned an oil well. Did I know John Wayne? How big was my ranch? And Dallas was a popular show then, so everyone asked me, "Who shot JR?" This one they were just kidding, but it was funny the perceptions we have.

BTw, if you believe in the power of prayer, please put our sweet son in law, Greg, on your list. We just found out yesterday he has urethral cancer, a very rare form of it. At this point we don't know anymore, he goes to the oncologist Monday. He's the dad to our 5 grandkids, ages 16 to 2. Pray for strength and peace for our daughter as she faces the unknown. I know God is still in control, and loves Greg more than anyone, we just need to trust Him.

Everything about this card is just stunning. The colour is perfect.
I really love the poinsettia dies and every time I see them on a card I just know that they have to be added to my collection. I am yet to own any of the dies you have used on this card.
The way you off set the sentiments is so clever. It is such a simple idea but so effective.
I promise to love this card, for better for worse, in sickness and in health if I win x
Well Bake off Final was so good - so thrilled with the winner, Not going to say their name in case any of you have not seen it yet. Those of you who have seen it will know who I am talking about.
Bit of an anti-climax now it is all over for another year but as Lorraine pointed out we have strictly to console us and The Apprentice starts next week. It amazes me that the contestants are supposed to be the best business minds in this country but they are so stupid sometimes. Brains are all well and good but without common sense they are not much use!!
I made a lovely gluten free pear and blueberry loaf cake to accompany the viewing of the final - it was delicious even if I say so myself. It was appreciated by all who participated in polishing the whole lot off.
Lorraine - you are more than welcome any time. Got to be quick to get a bit of cake though. I am glad your mum is back with you safe and sound. The pressure of being sole carer for your fluffy felines is obviously a lot to take on. Gleb is all yours my love. Although I think Claudia has her eye on him x
Txcowgirl - Texan Bars were wonderful. It was a really chewy sweet bar covered in chocolate. I don't know how I would describe the flavour and there is nothing now that is anything like it. Got to agree with Lorraine - we could have had so much fun with you with the explanation. I will be thinking of you and your family and hope that Greg's visit to see the Oncologist is a positive one x
    Tracy - you are a star x
Sam - lovely to have you back x
Rebecca - I love feeding people and love baking x
DeCor - not really fancying the maple syrup with my sausages x
    Saba - welcome back x
Melody - will be thinking of you tomorrow and hope that you get the news you are hoping for x
Off to bed now to dream about all the lovely cakes from bake off.

I watched the video for this card a while ago and i had a try at making it and if i say so myself it turned out ok but could do with a little more practice to make it as stunning as yours. Todays card is lovely. The colours are so clean and fresh and i love the way you have snipped the on earth away to just leave the peace, would never have thought to do this and it give you another die so two for the price of one lol. Thank you everyone I very much doubt we will get any news tomorrow I suppose it takes time to get the results back to the surgeon, today Francis got another appointment for Friday an it's an all day appointment to do tests to see if he is fit enough to go through the operation, so it seems like they are getting things in place for the results of tomorrow's test. All this waiting seems to be taking forever yet everything is moving so fast.
