Treasured Friend

Hello there my crafty friends!  It's a buckle card, you know how much I love making these!  I selected a piece of decorative background card from my craft stash and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled off the backing paper and micro beaded the entire piece for some lovely texture.  Next I cut two of the Caribbean Borders out of milk card and glued them to the top and bottom edges of the card.  I cut a length of double pearl strip down the centre and added a pearl strip to the outside of each of the borders.  I cut the St. Kitts die out of milk card and cut a matching milk backing piece.  I glued them together then used the smaller inner die to cut the centre out of both pieces creating a frame.  I cut two of the inside die shape from the St. Lucia die out of milk card and used the oval die to cut them into frames as well.  I used the Pierced flag die set to cut a double ended forked strip to use as the buckle for the card.  I carefully wove it through the two side dies and the centre die and added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimensions.  It is a very tight fit (if you decide to re-create this card), but can be done with a bit of patience.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the oval from the Caribbean background die and inked it with Evergreen Bough distress ink to match my background card.  I added it to the centre of my card with mounting foam.  I embellished the die cuts with some cream flatback pearls before adding my usual matting and layering to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.

  15. Hi Sue. A sunny start to a new week here in Lancashire, and this beautiful buckle card has added even more lovliness to the morning. A buckle card is something I've never tried, think its a confidence thing if that doesn't sound daft ! As I have already made a pledge to myself to try the cosmic shimmer sparkle paste this week how much more pressure can I take lol so I will leave the buckle cards to the expert. I just love the way it all comes together in the centre, with each die showing its beauty, mmmmm lovely.
What ever your plan's today Sue, hope you have a lovely one full of happiness with mom and laughter.
    Hugs.

    Morning Sue
Your Buckle gifts have been missing for a little while but here comes one truly beautiful one to start a Monday morning.
I think it's the first one I've seen using your later dies and don't they look gorgeous. They certainly add something unique by using two different dies to create the buckle and what a gift for any gender or any occasion. Thank you Sue for a fantastic start to a very busy week for me.

I hope everyone had a successful week-end in whatever you did and that you managed to get outside into some sunshine and warmth.
Totally out of the crafting world and into the sporting one. Did anyone see Sir Bradley Wiggins last evening slash the World Hour Record in the velodrome in London? For any non informed Cyclists the idea is to cycle as many Kms in One Hour. He cycled 54.526 smashing the previous record. It was amazing to watch. The skill, stamina and dedication he has is just out of this world. We have some all time athletes in this Country.

To all in pain or suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Great to see the micro beads again !! I love the way you have put all the Caribbean dies together to create such a beautiful centre piece. A great way to use the pierced flag dies to !! What a lovely finishing touch to use the centre oval of the Caribbean background die to house the lovely sentiment on too. Oh and adding the sticky pearl strips top and bottom adds to the very classy and elegant look of this card. I love the colours to. Can you tell yet that I love this card !!!! 140. Hello Sue, and all the ladies.
I can confirm that this is the most beautiful card in real life as it is in a box frame in my craft room. I won it by e-mailing into C & C. It also has the added bonus of Sue's signature on the reverse!!! In fact I'm looking at it as I'm typing this.

  143. Hi Sue,
Oooohhhh I can see what you mean about a tight fit for the buckle from the close up photos -it does make a lovely card though so well worth the patience and effort.

  144. Wow Sue, this is some seriously clever crafting!!
The way you have joined all the pieces together by threading a flag through the whole lot is ingenious. I love the colours in this being a blues and greens girl. I always get excited when I see one of your cards that I have all the dies for so will defo have a go at this one, it defo has the wow factor! Love the texture from the micro beads too.
An all round winner for me!

    Hi Sue

Your samples are just getting better and better. Each time I see one that I like the next day tops it. This is a stunning card. Love the whole effect and once again wish that I had half of the imagination and creativity that you and your team do.

  150. Hi Sue,
I'm a bit late today but what a gorgeous card! It looked a bit familiar and then I read above that Maureen had won it ! That's why it was so familiar - she sent me a photo of it! It is really lovely and great to get all the instructions on how to make it!
Lovely colour and lovely dies so imaginatively used! You are the best! Looking forward to seeing you back on our screens in the near future!
Tracy - sorry about your head! Hope you feel better soon.
It's raining and cold again after a lovely day! At least I don't have to water the plants!
    Lots of love,

  153. I'm giggling as I write Sue. I looked and adored then scrolled down to read the posts and had to scroll back to the picture again. I did a double take because I couldn't believe there was no bow! And no flower! I thought I must be mistaken so went back to check!!
    It is beautiful even so.
Thanks for bringing back the buckle.
    Big hug

  154. Hi Sue, a gorgeous card and I love the micro beads and the pearls. A lovely way to start the week.

At last we had a decent day so I was able to do plenty of work in the garden with sunshine and NO WIND, now I am exhausted but you have to grab the opportunity when it comes.

Julie Laz - sorry it is a bit late but wishing you a Happy Birthday and have fun with your presents.

  161. Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh Sue, wow.....this is stunning, just stunning x I love the Carribean dies. "Thank you Sue" for all your inspiration xx Hello to Sam and happy belated birthday wishes to you Julie! xx Will have to catch up...just to say, please take care when you are downloading anything. I became "crypted" on every single file that I had...which was quite a lot! Every time I went on my laptop, a message came up saying these people could de- crypt it but at a cost. I've now got a more up to date one (I had the other one for 5 years) but that's beside the point. My husband, bless him, has been putting things on this one, right from the very beginning. I'm just so grateful he's a very patient man! Just take care everyone. It has really put me off downloading things which is a shame because there is some lovely free things like papers out there. Anyway! Shall try and catch up Sue in the next few days.....congratulations to all you comment winners! Wonderful! Sending love and hugs to you Sue, your family and to all our Wilsonettes who are in need xx Love Karen xx

  170. Hi Sue,

What a truly beautiful card. Never ever have I made a buckle card like this, so I have put it on my long list of "to do cards" . Fantastic card Sue, thank you so much for all the inspiration you give to me and others.

I have trouble with my cutting, I think its the card that I use. Can anyone tell me what weight of card should I be using for die cutting?? TIA

Hugs everyone....It is time I was in bed...goodnight.

  173. I love looking at your buckle cards. This one is so pretty and feminine.
After two weeks of searching in my tip of a craft room I've found my Flag die and my newest striplet. They were on the same magnetic sheet which had attached itself to the next magnetic sheet so strongly that I couldn't see it. I'm so annoyed with myself for wasting so much crafting time but really happy that the prodigal die has returned.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes, Julie laz. Congratulations to all the comment winners from yesterday.
    Take care everyone.

Hi Sue...sorry for the lateness...I have been away poorly but just had to come back & say I really, really love this card, it is simply gorgeous...the buckle effect is fast becoming one of my favourite of your card designs along with the striplets & Gemini's...I remember looking back over your posts & coming across your green triple buckle card & that was stunning also...so nice to see different versions to inspire us to use dies in different ways...thank you so much Sue for sharing with us, those 2 words seem inadequate for someone who does so much for us. Hugs & smiles to you, your family and Wilsonettes...Love Beth B x x x
