Open Weave background

Hi crafters!  Today's video card shows you another way in which to use the Striped weaving die to create a slightly different sort of look for your background.  This die is just so versatile!  Don't forget you can also achieve a beautiful tight weave for your backgrounds with it as well.

Buy from Joanna Sheen

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Well! You certainly had me fooled this morning, I thought it was a stamp that you had used not the die lol. Fabulous card and with the video's I always learn something from them. I really enjoy using your weaving dies, there are a few combinations you can do plus I find it very therapeutic. Cosmic shimmer glue is the only glue that I have found suitable to use with vellum (used sparingly). Today's card is gorgeous thank you for sharing.

    Morning Sue
You have just changed and sold me on your weaving dies. When you launched them I just could not bring myself to like the look or think of how to use them but this morning's video has changed all that. They have certainly made today's gift jump and shine and what a change to see a different background.
I also have never letter pressed the dies before either so you have just given me a morning's activity in trying my hand at this.

To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  38. Hi Sue & Wilsonettes...what an absolutely stunning card.

I learnt letter pressing with Julia at my 1st workshop & it really is great fun...especially when you see it come together when using the heat gun...thanks for the tip on using no tape...although John Lockwood showed me a fantastic tip of using a clean erasure to rub off any residue from sticky tape on your card when using it to hold any cutting die in place...really does work...

I haven't yet purchased the weaving dies as I am trying to complete my other die sets I started to collect but after watching your video & seeing how easy & fun it is to do they will definitely be on my to purchase list.

Love the fabulous Vellum used for the sentiment & to see the weave come through this is a wonderful idea...I will try this...THANK YOU Sue for your wonderful generosity in sharing a fantastic video and a beautiful stunning card...especially love the Bright Gold emboss powder, it certainly gives the card a regal look.

I would like to thank Sandy G; Lynda's Craft; Maria Adler for your very kind, lovely comments reference to my being poorly x x x

I would also like to thank Wheely Bad...it was lovely of you to wish me well when you yourself are going through the mill...Hugs & smiles to you & all the best for the dentist today x x x

Theresa W...sorry to hear your operation was more than anticipated but sincerely hope that each day will see you feeling better & much improved x x x

To Sue & your family & to all Wilsonettes, especially to those who need a little extra I send you ((((hugs & Smiles)))& wishing you a lovely day. Take care Love Beth B x x x

  59. Hi Sue. What a beautiful rich expensive looking card today. Im not a very 'clever' crafter and will own up and say Ive never had much luck with trying letter pressing on folder to card, but surely even I could letter press from die to card ? How difficult can that be ? Lol a technique I have to try along with the texture paste I bought yesterday : ) now that will be disasterous fun I feel lol all I need now is one of Mr Lancashire grouting tools as our favourite shop owner had sold her last wotsit ! And if I get all flustered and in a mess I have two lovely ladies to blame lol Sue and Tina E you are both so impressionable but oh so inspirational too, cant wait to play though I must admit : )
To those that are not so good today, look forward, tomorrow will be a better day.

  84. Good morning Sue,

Happy video day everyone! Thank The Lord for tablets cos I will be able to enjoy today's demo outside in the glorious sunshine-it was hotter here yesterday than Portugal can you believe!!??!? Just some polishing to get out of the way firstly since our glass table tops arrived earlier this morning-a purchase to deter my little Bengal from marking our newly varnished table and desk again, he loves nothing more than watching the world pass by whilst sprawled over them.
The weaving dies are top of my wish list, it looks quite therapeutic assembling this background and the results are simply stunning. I just received my noble square and rectangle dies so all I need now are the glorious weaving dies to complement them. Thankyou for providing us with a brilliant demo of the technique, it is always easier to understand the gist of a technique after watching you 'weave' your magic Sue.
Hope everyone is enjoying some of this glorious weather, enjoy.

  126. Hi Sue,
I'm a little late again but I did want to watch the video before I commented. I really love today's card and the debossed frame is really beautiful! I don't have the die set but - I may need to rethink that one! Love too , the gold embossing on the vellum sentiment! We or certainly I have learned so much over the years from this great blog!
    Thank you once again.
Take care, Sue and don't overdo things!
    Lots of love, Myra xxx

  134. Beautiful card. But I do not understand why you would need the glue on the velum if you have used the mounting tape.
