Thank You

Good Sunday morning all!  This is about as close to clean and simple as I get.  I do really enjoy this style of card as it is actually more difficult to do in many ways.  For one, you have to make sure you don't leave any smudges anywhere! LOL  That alone is quite a challenge!  It doesn't need much in the way of a descriptive write up, but here goes.  I started by stamping my sentiment from the Justrite Extra Grand Sentiment set in black Archival ink on a piece of coconut white card.  I always start with a slightly larger piece of card so I have a bit of trim room if needed if I stamp it a bit wonky.  Next I used the largest size of the Camellia Complete petal die to cut three apertures in a vertical line down the edge of the card.  I have to admit, I don't measure things, just eye ball them so if you want it to be more precise, then a ruler should be used.  I added mounting foam to the back of the card to raise it for dimension.  Behind each of the three apertures, I added a different colour card, which I had embossed the flower into for more detail.  The remainder of the card is simply matting and layering to add some interest to the simplicity of the design.  I did finish with my signature paper pierced layer mat (just so you would believe I actually made the card! LOL)  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.

Now for the Sunday Comment Game winners.  This week's winners are:

  18. I like it a lot Sue. Like you say finding the right balance on a simple card is hard . I think using the aperture of the flowers is genius as it pulls the images into backgrounder. If you had just stuck the flowers in a line on a flat piece of card they may have looked lost on their own. Thanks for the quick card idea. Big hug

    Good morning Sue
Today's gift may be clean and simple but what a beautiful statement it makes. This is definitely one occasion which says 'less is more' and it works for me.

Well it looks and feels like we've gone backwards into winter than springing into spring. Someone somewhere has really got His seasons mixed up. It's raining/very windy and cold!! Will we ever get our proper seasons back?

Congratulations to all this week's winners especially Muriel.

It's going to be hectic all day with last minute packing and making sure everything is sorted here. We leave at 06.00 tomorrow so I'll be absent in the morning but hopefully will be able to get a signal around tea time. If not it will be Tuesday before I see you all again.

To all in pain and suffering I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe.

Many congrats to ALL Sunday winners, enjoy your gift, I use mine so often.

Simply stunning. Simply elegant. I DO love this style of card, simplicity is an art in itself. Some cards can feel like a slap in the face (NOT your cards Sue) obviously, but overdoing a card can just end up looking like everything has been thrown up in air and stuck down where its landed lol. This Sunday Special is just amazing Sue, even I think I maybe able to do something similar (but NOWHERE as gorgeous as this)

Im only to happy to send anyone some die cuts of the camelia petals both open and closed, dont know how but Im only too happy to cut some.

I'm feeling better but still very tired, Tummy settled yesterday and right eye just a little blurry. Am going to have a little time on the sewing machine today as I finally cut out the (big) pieces of fabric for Billy's new bed cover yesterday- wore myself out and forgot to comment. Bless him, he's been using his old bed while he's been waiting, he's ok curled up but if he stretches out 1/3 of his body is on the floor! Hopefully I'll be up to colouring in the stamps for both my sisters birthday cards later.

Lots of hugs and happy thoughts for all of you, thinking of those struggling with life or absent, extra hugs if you need them. Enjoy the rest of ghe weekend and hope you all have an excellent week

I am a big fan of CAS but sometimes don't know when to stop. I thought the flowers were flat on the card but can see they are underneath the three windows.
    Congratulations to all the winners.

  140. Hi Sue, I love the simplicity of this card and the colours you chose for the flowers. I know what you mean about the CAS cards being more difficult - it's because you can't hide anything! A flower or a butterfly usually does the trick on a busier card but with this style there is no other way to disguise something.

Congratulations to all of today's winners, enjoy your prizes.

I did make a start on my craft room yesterday but it now actually looks worse than before because I have pulled out so much stuff to try and organise it. I have been out most of today so now need to knuckle down and get it finished.

  141. Good evening Sue and the fabulous Wilsonettes,
This is a beautiful card Sue, yes it's really plain and simple but it is so beautifully elegent and chic into the bargain. The pop of colour from the flowers just give it that wee bit to lift it for me. Thank you for continuing to inspire but also to bring the joy that you do into our lives. I hope that you are feeling so much better this weekend that you were last and that you are not being defeated by that number 9 bus that hit you and run over the top of you. Sending you some hugs just to get you back on your feet again flower.
Well, congratulations to all of this weeks winners especially our Maureen/ Muriel, i hope that you all enjoy investigating their potential when you receive your wonderful prize.
Well it has been quite a cold day up here at my beloved Ochils and they now have a fog hanging around them which is making them looks as if they are miles away instead of in front of me but i am looking forward to it changing to what used to be called Spring, you know when all the bulbs came through and stayed instead of like the now they have popped their heads up, decided it's too cold so went away back to sleep again under ground. I hope that you all have had a good weekend and to all those lucky enough(very tongue in cheek here) to be off with our little darlings called children i hope that you have a good holiday when you start back work.
    Love and crafty hugs

  148. Hi Sue, this may be one of your more simple cards, but it's really quite clever! One minute the flowers seem to be attached to the card, but look closer and they are recessed!! Very effective. Back to work tomorrow - egh! Hugs, Karen x
