It's A Double Day

Happy Halloween!  Even though it is Halloween, we have another Friday Christmas double day for you!  We have a double dose of Baubles today, but they look very different.  First up we have a sort of distressed style. I used the large die from the Italian Decorative frames to cut a circle aperture in the centre of a piece of milk card.   I embossed the piece with the Swirling Holly embossing folder.  I used a clear Perfect Medium pad around the edges then dusted it with gold embossing powder.  Prior to heating it, I used my finger to remove it slightly so there would not be a definite hard edge left.   I added mounting foam to the back of this piece then mounted the aperture over a piece of soft gold card.  I cut one of the Decorative Frames from the Italian collection using the inner heart die and recessed it into the aperture area.  Next I stamped the Christmas Night Bauble stamp in black on milk card.  I used an Antique linen distress marker and highlighted the scene a bit.  I cut it out with the matching Bauble die then went around the edge with a Perfect Medium pad.  I dusted the edge with gold powder and removed some of it with my finger before heating as I did on the background.  I cut the bead cap out of gold card and glued it to the top of the bauble.  I mounted the bauble on foam in my aperture and added a chalk seam binding messy bow at the top.  I used some metallic twine and a small Dazzler in the centre that I had changed the colour with some gold mixative alcohol ink.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a Fancy Framed tag.  I inked it with Antique Linen before removing it from the die.  I mounted it with foam below my bauble.  I completed the card with a milk mat which I pierced with my piercing ruler, then a thin gold mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 3/4" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

The second card uses the same bauble die, but with the addition of gilding flakes and decorative paper.  I covered a piece of white card with a sticky adhesive sheet and used the outside Bauble die shape to cut an aperture.  I peeled away the backing paper and gilded the aperture with Golden Jewels Gilding flakes.  I mounted foam on the back of this piece and attached a piece of decorative paper from my craft stash behind the aperture opening.  I cut the Vintage Bauble in white card using the decorative insert die.  I glued it into the recessed aperture opening and added pearls to embellish it.  I matted this piece with a white mat that I pierced the edges on then a slightly larger white mat to give a finished look to the focal element.  I used the Nordic Trees embossing folder to emboss a larger white background piece.  I tied a piece of white frilly edged ribbon around it vertically and taped the ends to the back,  I added a double bow to the side with glue dots.  A white crystal Sparkler adorned the centre of the bow and I made two matching stick pins as embellishments.  I added a mat which I gilded the edges with Golden Jewels and then a final white mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are  7 1/2" x  9" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing two completely different bauble cards today!  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
The Double Day Friday comes around so quickly doesn't. It doesn't seem two minutes since last Friday but eh ho it's Halloween and the end of another month.
This week I really do have a favourite and it has to be number 1. I'm such a traditionalist where this season is concerned and the bauble with the stamp scene is just so so traditional it just has to be.
I must try stamping in the space of last year's bauble and see how it goes. I have decided on my dies for this year but I can still have a 'play'.

Norah - No not 'seriously mad' you are proud of your Country. Nothing wrong in that. It's just like someone uttering negatives about Yorkshire - We're all up in arms when that happens. We're proud and not afraid to show it.
I always talk to my Mum & Dad and bring them up to date with goings on in the family. I also talk to my Granddaughter who would now be 27 and tell her all about the antics of her brother and sister and their families. It's just a natural thing to do for me.
Sandra - hoping all our comments have helped with your problem. Just remember you are proud of your creations and should be able to let people know that.

Well as it's Friday it's market day in Corbigny and hopefully the bakery will be open for our weekly pastry treat. It's really cold here today so the market may be smaller (I really do not know how market traders can stand all day in the cold and all weathers. I know I couldn't and so they do have my admiration).
To all who are under the weather and in pain hope you improve as the day marches on. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow. Oh hope you all have your Pumpkins sorted for today/night.

  59. First one is definitely my favorite. I was thinking that maybe one could bend
the bauble a bit (I mean, use a tool to give it some shape) so it would look

Just an idea Steph, when I just can't think what to do, to get my mojo going I choose a card I love and try to copy it, and I bet before you've finished you change something ( as often don't have the same dies or something anyway) and hayho the old mojo has returned! Maybe worth a try?

I think no 1 has a slight edge because I like the scene but number two is also good because I like the use of patterned paper behind the cut out bauble. Thank you for sharing them. Happy Halloween to you too, it would have been interesting to see your take on Halloween using your dies ! Have a great day. Love Diane G xxxxx
Jackie hope your grand caliber is better soon, I know how much you must be missing it, you know where mine is if you need it xxx

Norah, what can I say, I wish you were nearer so you could help to eat the cake too!!! Yesterday's cake was a success but we are going to try a different filling so just one more tester cake to make and it will be a small one this time! Never thought I would be fed up with eating chocolate cake!!!!! Now we have decided on sizes I can make the fruit one and start feeding it! I don't think you are m ad, I would talk to my parents in the graveyard too if I could. How lovely that they are clean and tidy again. My parents were both cremated so I don't have a place to go, but I sit and talk to them sometimes and know they are watching what we are doing! Have a good day love Diane xxxx

  75. Morning Sue and Creepy crafting sisters. Im a miserable old bat on Haloween as there is no rest, and constant dog barking when the door knocks, it drives me bonkers ! I think I may end up to be the most vile OAP when my time arrives !! Oh well, such is life.
SANDRA hope you have read my message on your blog and it makes sence !
Now then Sue Wilson, I could choose a favourite but Im not going to, I maybe a misery guts but Im not in the habit of offending cards, its not nice, they are both so beautiful in their own right. I know that I would leave these cards up all year round, why would anyone want to box cards like this up and put them in a loft, utterly criminal.
So roll on the next festive card you have to show us.
Can I share you with our SAM please Sue, where has my enthusiasm gone, why cant I find my interest, its so distressing, I dont even want to make a card at the moment, its just crazy considering I would spend every spare hour I had in my den, then realise it was time to start dinner ! Ann, thank you for trying to give me a shove in the right direction : )
Im really looking forward to hearing about the quaint little French market and the wonderful pastry you enjoy whilst people watching Janet. Will call back later to cosy up in the kitchen and see the vision.
I hope you have had a good week Sue. To all that are not so well today, my big winter basket of cuddles is open ready and waiting. To our sisters not ready to comment, that time will come, just remember you are ALL missed so much.
To all the mommy's nannies and aunties looking forward to this evening, have a lovely safe evening of fun a treats.

Two lovely cards today, but I have to say that for me the first one wins. I love the soft embossed distressed look of it. Stunning!
Steph, I'm with you, I hate Halloween! But there again I don't like "Penny for the Guy" or Carol singers either! I get so frustrated when I'm just suiting down to watch something and then the doorbell rings! Kids round us turn their noses up at sweets all they want is money! Have to say they don't get it with me though! Hope you get your mojo back soon. Maureen, hope the decorating is coming on well and you might want to show this to George as we did manage to get booked up for next Thursday and Friday nights so it's off to see the poppies! Even better, off to Portpatrick in Scotland for three nights two weeks later! Don't know what's come over Dave! Norah, I think it's lovely that you talk to your mam and dad at the cemetery, it's amazing how peaceful you feel when you leave just knowing that they have heard you. I think I have caught the bug for your lovely country but have a feeling we might get wet this time! Love and hugs to each and every one of you. Love Alison xx

    Hugs, Belinda. X

  121. Afternoon Sue and everyone. Oh boy Sue, two cards today and they are both stunning. My favourite is the first one but the second one is a equally beauty.

Weekly shopping done, washing done and hanged, little bit of dusting and the stew is on,it's been a full day of things to do and you feel good to have it done and then I know my body does not agree, crap. Tomorrow I got the house for myself and my husband very nicely let me sit at his desk in the office for some crafting, yay a whole day for some glitter and flaking, what do you think Steph ? or have my mojo gone somewhere with yours because the last few weeks I have had problems to get going with anything really and it is soooo annoying !

Barbara-hope your op has gone well, take care and hug.
Pam-Hug to you, lovely to see Robbie doing well.
AnneC-hug to you and well wishes to lain.
Meg-nice to hear baby Leo doing fine, big cuddle to the little one and of course Skylar too.
DeyaniraC-So much rain in your home country, don't think I would like that.I prefer when it's drier but as you said not good either when it's to dry for some country's...your country must be quite green with all that rain :-)

Time to put the veggies in the stew and have a coffee ,I think .

Hugs to Sam S,Tres, Wheelybad,ToB and everyone else who are poorly, wish you better

Hugs to June and LynneM, take care both and looking forward to see you back when you are ready.

    Warm hugs Maria x

  139. Good evening Sue, and all the ladies.
I like both these cards, Sue but I think number 1 just wins it by a head.
Happy Halloween to all - I've just come in from Trick or Treating with my two granddaughters and their mum, whilst granddad and daddy held the fort for children knocking on their door. We have a system here that if you don't want children to knock, you don't switch on your outside light. It works well.
Alimecca - Alison, you lucky thing. London to see the poppies, fabulous, and Scotland - the icing on the cake. I've got one more door and frame to paint and that will be the finish for the stairs and passages down and up. Then it's the downstairs loo to start!!
Pam - love to you and Robbie.
Anne - hope things going well for you and Iain.
Barbara - hope all went well.
Love and hugs to all xx

From your idea and dies and stamps and my niece loved it so much I spotted it in her glass cabinet still 9 months later!, She said she loved it so much she couldn't put it away!, Praise indeed which is actually all down to you, thank you so much. I really would love to do it with your wonderful bauble dies you have produced for us this year as Idid enjoy making them. May be tempted yet !! Many hugs Maureen

  152. Hi Sue, So sorry I'm really late tonight or is it tomorrow? Lol.
Well today's cards are both stunning and I am not too proud to copy! Today while using my bauble dies I wondered what would happen if I used the outside cutting edges of both baubles taped together one inside the other.I was really pleased with the shape I got! It worked an absolute treat. I'm sure you'll have tried it - but it gives a lovely border for the larger die while cutting another solid little bauble. If this makes no sense - apologies! I got a bit excited - lol.
Thanks for inspiring me every day.
I'm not a big fan of Halloween - so pleased its over.
    Love to all,

  153. Hi Sue. WOW !! Two really lovely cards today !! If I had to choose a favourite it would be number one, but I do still really like number two as well. I love the stamp scene you have used for the bauble on the first card. I also love that background folder. I think the card looks fab with the distressed gold embossing. My preference has always been more Traditional cards. I love the gold gilding flakes on the second card. The bauble, again looks great and I love your bow and stick pins to !! Some lovely ideas to try out. Thank you for sharing these two beautiful cards today.

Just a quickie Ladies, I am so exhausted I can't tell you, thank you all for your amazing advice, I am going to give it a go, I haven't got that much made, I like to personalize my cards, so doing the randomly seems a little different, I will have a big notice on my side saying "personalised cards made to order" I have also made a good few bits of jewellery. I finished putting bits together at about half one am, now laying here in so much pain that I can't sleep! I hope it's worth it, Lucy bless her, made me some little business cards with my email and blog address on, so that I didn't have to be associated with anyone else! Well I must go,
Thank you all so very much for your fabulous advice,
    Huge hugs,
    Sandra xx
