Thinking Of You

Hi bloggers!  How about a butterfly day!  As usual, I started with the background and inked the Climbing Vine embossing folder with a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I inserted a piece of milk coloured card and letter pressed it through the Grand Calibur transferring the ink to the floor of the embossing folder design.  I dusted the card with Angel Gold Sparkle Mica powder for a soft shimmery look.  You can see it in some of the close ups pics below.  I cut the piece into three strips and matted then with a thin back mat and attached them to a larger piece of milk card.  Next I cut three butterflies from the Magical Butterfly die set out of black glitter card.  I mounted them diagonally across the panels of the background.  I added cream flatback pearls in the centres of the bodies as accents.  I used some black pearl swirls as butterfly trails across the card.  I stamped the sentiment (from Justrite) on to milk card in Black Archival ink.  I cut it out with the tag from the Austrian Collection and inked it with Antique Linen before removing it from the die.  I cut a second tag from black card and cut it in half and added it as a shadow behind the milk tag.  I added it to the upper corner of the card with mounting foam.  I completed the card with a pierced milk mat, a thin black mat and a final milk coloured mat.  The finished dimensions are 8 " x  8" in size.

The winner of the Wednesday Card Giveaway this week is:

Dawn Holben!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.  All for now, Sue x

PS  I keep meaning to say that I have always had the word verification thing turned off on my blog so I haven't a clue why some of you are having to go through it!  I will try to find out if it is something that Blogger has now added to their blogs and what might be done about it.  I have always found it very annoying myself and have never activated the feature on my blog!  I so hope it doesn't cause you to stop leaving me comments as I really look forward to them daily!

  13. Love this one! A real stunner!

Up early again still on Turkish time!

Busy day yesterday trying to get washing and drying done. Not tackled the ironing yet! Tilly and her friend Imogen love Halloween they created spectacular displays outside graveyards and skeletons in the garden! The houses are becoming quite famous as each year they get more elaborate! Then had a christening candle to do which didn't take too long. Then have had to finish the table decorations for tonight's work's Halloween party! I must be mad !!!!!

Well today need to go and decorate the room and could do with clearing my craft room so I can get set for Christmas.

Pam hoping you are doing OK take your time people completely underestimate the length of time it takes to adjust to bereavement or trauma. In fact I think in most cases people learn to live with it but never completely accept it.

Steph, mojo back my friend? I suggest just get in your den cut one die and you will be off. You said that you didn't sell too much at the market may be that has caused you to lose your mojo.i remember doing a couple of car boots with baby stuff it was hard work people didn't want to spend anything and it actually left me feeling depressed. Never did it again!

Well see you all tomorrow xxx

    morning Sue
Your gift today is beautiful. Monochrome is one of my favourite colour scheme and who could go wrong with butterflies. Your new vine folder look stunning and just may have to be 'NEED' although I have said I have enough folders!!!
I'm sure that today's gift would cheer anyone up coming through the letterbox. Butterflies are really special and magical. So thank you for starting my very cold day with a smile and some comfort.

Pam - Hope you're OK. You're still here in my heart.
Steph - hope your MoJo is returning. Do you do any other craft? I always find that if I loose my paper MoJo I just move over to another craft and it comes back - not always quickly but it does come back-.
Sandra - fingers crossed that you have a good day and find some enjoyment in it.
Brenda - We had just sat down for our coffee in Corigny when you posted your blog. I just knew someone had joined us to have a chat lol.
Norah - I missed you yesterday. Hope you're OK and just having a rest.

Well sister Wilsonettes yesterday's market was it's usual wonderful self. Despite the cold and damp all the stallholders were there and quite a few buyers as well. Because of the damp etc we sat inside for our coffee and was met with a real babble of noise (the French can be so noisy at times lol). Gossip was rife as whilst we were walking down the market two males came out of another cafe and started shouting and threatening each other about the lady stallholder who sells cooked meats. Pleased to say it didn't get to fistycuffs as she sorted them out but you can just imagine how the story raced through the market can't you. The four 'gamblers' were absent this week but Mr & Mrs Gossip herself was there. We called at the Pastry Shop on our way back to the car and brought back two of the most delightful pastries for after tea. Raspberry mousse sat on a thin crispy layer of something like tiny popcorn with whole raspberries in the mousse; a very thin layer of sponge on top and on the top of that the most beautiful raspberry gel and to finish off a sliver of white chocolate. Mr E decided he would have Caramel this week so his was basically like mine but on the top was caramel layers with chocolate sprays. I hope I haven't made all of you ill by reading this or jealous in any way but it was just heavenly!!!!

A quick lick round with brush and duster today and then try and get some embroidery done later.
To all who are in pain and feeling too good hope your day gets better as it goes along. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.
    Janet x

"WOW" What A Truly Tremendous Card I Love Cards That You Make When You Cut Them Into Panels The Embossing Is Absolutely Awesome I Just Love It When You Put It a Through The Grand Calibar And Add The Hint Of The Beautiful Mica Powder It Seems To Bring Out The Beauty Of The Embossing.
I Love Your Stunning Butterflies, And How You've Cut Them Out Of Glitter Card, I Don't Have Any Glitter Card, Never Use It, I'd Rather Use Your Extra Fine Glitter In Black If You Have Any, Or The Stunning Black Diamond Snow (I Don't Think For One Minute It's Called That, But I Can't Think Of The Correct Name Lol!) 32. Morning Sue. May I start by sending this sentiment back to you as I know just how manic life is for you just now. But this time tomorrow, well what's not done, isn't done, sit back, and enjoy your time ahead xx.it also goes to ALL our missing Wilsonettes. You will know when you feel ready and you will ALL be welcomed home with the same amount of love and support.
Secondly Sue, if you think a few little numbers or letters will keep us away, then yes, you need a rest ! Wild horses or tornados wont stop US from enjoying the best craft blog in craftland, so dont worry.
Barbie - welcome home. If you need a hand you know where to find me both in virtual and real life. Have a wonderful night and email me photo's Id love to see your hard work being enjoyed xx

Looking forward to my visit to France today Janet.

This is a beautiful card and I find that using strips of card in this way so useful, and I keep strips of card like this especially for this use and to die cut small dies. In fact I probably have the same amount of 'scrap strips' as I do full unused card but I cant throw ANY bits or scraps away as I know that when I DO have a clear out, I'll be diving into my paper re-cycle bin to retrieve it !!!
I really must try to practice my letter pressing - maybe on some scraps, the last time I tried it my mica powder looked so patchy and I swear I took a full day to load my ef with my embossing glue pad ! Practice makes perfect as they say.

Well, I'll start to wind down now but I must congratulate our Wednesday winner, what an amazing card, it will be like an envelope of smiles when you receive it so enjoy.
To all that are not well, or hurt in any way, my basket of hugs is full so enjoy as many as you need. To those who feel down, lonely, depressed, if I could surround you with warm sun and protective rainbows I would, but I surround you with loving thoughts and gentle cuddles until your hurt subsides and that cloud lifts.
Have a good day my friends. Wind down if you can Sue.
    Love you.

  88. Good morning Sue,
Oh what a beautiful card that we have for our delight. I love the new embossing folder design as the butterflies just look right clinging on to the vines. This card you could use for a lot of occasions i think from just letting someone know that they are not far from your thoughts to a sympathy card or even one for the dreaded males of our knowing as it is not too girlie without the bling attached to it. Thank you Sue for another inspiration to ignite our ideas.
Dawn, well done flower on winning this weeks card as i know you will thoroughly enjoy it when it arrives. And thank you Sue for bringing some happiness to one our Wilsonette family. You give so much of yourself and your kindness each week and it brings so much joy that you will never know.
Steph my dear friend i can understand your mood at the moment but i really hope that it passes soon. I know that you try to make some extra money from your cards but first and foremost it started as your hobby to get you out of yourself and have something else to focus on other than being not well and sore, it took your mind off that. I really hope that you get your inspiration back soon so that you can forget your troubles for even a short while as it does get you down. Sending you a hug flower just to say i'm thinking about you.
Sorry i wasn't able to type yesterday but had a couple of days from hell that were just more than i could cope with. Thank you to everyone that made me feel normal in talking to my mum and dad and brother. Normally me and mum have each other at this time of the year to hold up but not doing so clever on my own some how this year.
Sending hugs to all my Angels that help me just get through the days the now and all the ones that are having a time of it on their own.
    Love and crafty hugs

  100. Hi Sue,

Your card today is stunning, as always. I love anything with a butterfly so to have a trio of gorgeousness is such a treat. The swirlies and embossing are also so pretty.

I had the verification come up on a couple of occasions but not for a few days. Very strange!

  109. Hi Sue,
Lovely lovely card! I was hoping you'd show it on the blog when I saw it on C&C. Will definitely try this one. I love the butterfly dies as they are so useful , an alternative maybe to bows or flowers - sometimes an addition. Lol.
This verification thing - I only got it twice and never again. I wondered if it was because I wasn't logged into Google at the time. I thought I was no longer getting it because I was logged into Google. Lots of people having the problem seem
to be "anonymous" - could this be why? I don't know - just a thought.
Janet - yum ! Sounds like quite a drama at the market. You have us in that pastry shop in spirit!
Norah - so sorry things are so hard for you just now. Do wish we could come and just hug you and listen for a little while. All we can do is send hugs and listen here! Just take your time and try not to worry. Hugs for you and Rory. xxxx
Heather T - how is your brother now? Hope he is still making excellent progress. x
    Have a lovely weekend, everyone.
    Congratulations to Dawn.
Steph - maybe mojo been on Half Term and will return this weekend. Hope so! xx

This is a pretty, pretty card Sue, the embossing, butterflies and black pearls are all stunning.
Well, we've slogged all day and got the decorating finished so I am now going to have a shower and get ready for my big brother and sister-in-law's Golden Wedding celebration tonight - yippee.
I'll read all the posts when we get back, or if it's too late will catch up tomorrow.

  131. Oh Sue, your card nearly made me cry today as it seemed to be a message from my sister. There was a butterfly in her room when she passed away and there were several in the church at the service. With my Mum it was a rainbow verse at the service and then one appeared over the road we were travelling on a short while later. So, imagination or not I like to think these things are meant.
Norah - look for a sign from your Mum
to show she is thinking of you.

  136. Hi Sue,
Gorgeous card - I love butterflies. The embossing folder is lovely as well. Congratulations to Dawn, hope you enjoy your card.
Norah, sorry you're not feeling too clever at the moment. I think that whenever it is an anniversary or the time of year when you would do something specific with a loved one , it is so hard to come to terms with. All I can say, is that it will get easier. I still miss my mam who sadly passed away nearly two years ago and find myself quite teary for no real reason. Sending love and hugs to you and also Pam. Steph, hope you are starting to feel better and that the mojo is coming back. Cheryl, good luck with the radiotherapy when it starts. Janet, you have made me very envious ( not to mention hungry! ) with all your talk of the wonderful pastries. Maureen, glad decorating is finished - I'm hoping for the weather to turn horrible and then maybe I will get my kitchen and bathroom painted - Dave has decided he would rather be out and about birdwatching! Have a lovely evening tonight at the Golden Wedding celebration. Sending love and hugs to all. Love Alisonxxx
