Sunshine Of Life

Good Sunday morning all!  I have been having a look back through some files and found some cards that were never posted so I thought I would sprinkle them in over the next few weeks (hope you don't mind seeing some older ones!)  This is definitely classed as one of those cards where the dies do absolutely all the work for you.  I like these kind though, so you can just have a play with the dies and see what you come up with!  First I embossed the background using the Wild Holly embossing folder from Couture Creations.  I extended the pattern to create a slightly larger background.  Using the Becca Feeken's Filigree Bracket Label and Tag die, I cut four of the tiny die to use as corners and glued them into place, adding a pearl to each of them.  Next I used the Lacey Tiers die and cut four out of silver card.  I arranged them on the card so they were all offset a bit to give a star sort of shape.  Next I went back to the Bracket set and cut two of the tags out of coconut white card and crisscrossed them and taped them together, adding a piece of mounting foam and placing them in the centre of my focal element.  I used the small die again and cut four more, but this time in silver and added them around a sentiment that I stamped and cut out with a square die and inked it with Brushed Pewter distress stain before removing it.    I added a silver square mat to it as well.  I finished the card with a combination of silver and white mats with my usual paper piercing on one of the white mat layers.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size.

Now it's time for the winners of the Weekly Comment Game to be announced.  This week's winners are:

Gail, my thoughts are with you at this sad time, I hope your brother gets the care he needs soon, it is so hard for his family to see him like this and not be able to help him.
Steph, I can imagine your tears, I remember when I saw my daughter try her dress on too, Mums huh, all the same.

Morning Sue and all the crafty crew!!
Hope you are still having a ball at home.
Sheer indulgence, and decadence and totally awesome!! I love the holly berry and bracket label!!

I overdid it yesterday outside, only intend to be working for an hour to plant but with all the rain the allotment was a little overgrown and needed some extra work.
Sandra did get a little bit singed, as its really the first full day I have had outside, we worked for around 5 hours but completed everything, rushed home quick shower and change and collected our 91 year old neighbour and took her to our local allotment plant sale, in-between supervising the builders who are replacing all the mock Tudor timbers possible 80 yrs old and then rendering, painting all the outside etc...
All was going well but the sky dish had to be moved so could not watch my recordings of Julia's Demos.

Well its going to be a scorcher again today, so slip, slap, slop and I am going to wear my Tilly hat which will keep my head cool..
Pam, Sandra, Brenda Norah, Vick, Lancashire Steph and lady who is having an eye op, a special hug for you today!!

    Have a really lovely day!!

  12. Sunny Sunday Smiles to you Sue and all Wilsonettes. Im looking forward to seeing the 'older' cards,.I may even have some of the ingrediants at some point.
What did we do for focal points before dies came along ? Me, it was decoupage and 'yackie tackie' elements I think, but that was when I knew very little about the crafting world ! I may know just a little more now, but a LONG way to go and SO much still to learn from you Sue and lovely Wilsonettes, but hoping to get there one day !
A beautiful show. It shouts Look at ME, Im beautiful, its amazing what a few pieces of metal can do.

Many congrats to all winners, can your Sunday get any better ? I think not.
Need to get my body in working order as Im at the big Summer family day market, its on for longer too, so my bottle of 'friendly' pain med must travel along too !
However all my friends are spending this glorious sunny day, stay happy and safe and enjoy the day.
Love you and thoughts and gentle hugs go to all.

Thank you for a beautiful gift this morning and one that doesn't take days to complete but still looks so complicated. I love the idea of the dies doing all the hard work.
This is of course ideal for those pesky men in our lives and changing colours can have lots of different meanings.
We have sunshine again and it's a lovely warm morning here so it's off into Derbyshire to see my eldest daughter and son in law at their small animal rescue centre.

Please, let's see more of the older die cards, it's absolutely brilliant to get some inspiration for using dies we already have! So please feel free to dig them out!
Today's card is a great standby card, I have a box of made up cards with no sentiment, waiting for personalisation as required, it would be a great card for many occasions. I hope the Florida Sunshine is making your stay more enjoyable, I bet your mom dreads the end of your stay approaching!
Cameeli, we are fellow allotmenteers! Ours is a peaceful haven, I love going along and watching hubby work, I usually take along something crafty to do, as well as the refreshments of course! 94. Hi Sue. Another lovely card today !! I agree with what you say Sue, it is lovely to make a card where the dies do all the work for you !! I know I do not use some of my older dies often enough. I get so excited about getting the next newly released die sets out, that I do forget about some of the older ones I have. I do however have my favourite dies that I often turn to when I am stuck for ideas and I am always pleased with their results !! Becca's dies look fab on today's card but I do not have any of them. I love the silver and white colour combo though. I have my Adorning Squares dies and I think I may have a play with these as I love them and they have not been used for a while !! At the mo I am making cards for family with your beautiful Granada dies, the Valencia dies, the Art Deco embossing folder and your fab Roses dies !! The dies are all stunning !! Thanks for sharing this card with us today.

  95. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Another different card using our dies in another way. I love the inspiration that you fill us with Sue, making us think to what dies we have that can do a similar job if we don't have the ones you have used like today, i just might have to try this card out with other dies that i have as it is so different and unusual. Thank you Sue for continuing to be our inspiration, our go to source but most of all our friend.
Well done Ladies, i know you are going to enjoy your stamp set when it arrives.
Have fun Sam with the TT folder, i am still waiting on the 2 that i ordered from them but that's ok because Mr Winge will be at work when they come and i can just put them in with the rest and he wont be any the wiser.
Oh Heather, crafty stash is the first i would pack as it would definitely be a must have, but hey that would be because i couldn't get out for a walk now. have a lovely time there anyway flower.
Gail, i'm going to wish your husband a lovely birthday and enjoy if you can the pre-arranged meal and theatre. I know your mind and heart will be miles away from it but i am hoping it will be a little bit of a lift.I know that you want to be there for your brother, but although it is hard for him at the moment, it can be a lot worse for you his family knowing that you can do nothing to help, it takes an awful lot out of you. The Marie Curie nurses are fantastic and actually NURSE, the MacMillan don't they only advise and don't do that very well either. You and your brother have been so much in my thoughts since you told us, that i can only send hugs to you and hopes that he is at least pain free.
Well we have the beautiful sunshine up here in Central Scotland today which makes up for the dreary day that it was yesterday. Thank goodness hubby has decided to have a day off today as he is "knackered" from all "HIS" efforts at putting in the front door and finishing it off. I had noticed that he did this all by his self, so my shoulders, hips, back, legs, arms etc are only just imagining the lifting and holding of a flippin heavy door going in and the yanking at and pushing to try and get the old lot out. I have gave the body a stiff talking to, to stop imagining things that it has done.
Lynne, when i go down to mum's each day i inform her off the new antics of fur babies Tilly and Cully. When i told her about the sliding the length of the kitchen/diningroom she was in hysterics laughing at them. Have you seen the for all the world it is a piece of plastic sheeting that you lay out on the grass and trickle water down it and the children do the same thing. Having said that, having seen it in action some of the children just happen to be 6footers' and shall be say slightly older than the small children that it is aimed at. The fur babies might enjoy it outside and on a good day it would keep them cool as well.
Well this is radio Glenochil signing off for today and i hope to see you all tomorrow, from my beautiful hills,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

The colours are lovely and I think could be adapted to many sentiments.

I don't have the embossing folder you uses, so yet another item to add to my 'want and need' list.

  100. Well done Sue for reminding us all to use our older dies, I have been terrible since you released yours and have been using them all exclusively!
It's a gorgeous day here in shropsire, I managed to clip my itchy horse this morning before it got too hot so he isnow a very happy boy, the foals are loving it at the moment playing together and then flopping down into the long grass and sleeping, oh to have their life.
Gail you enjoy tonight as much as you can, I'm sure your brother would never want you to change your plans. Norah, typical man to think he has done all the hard work! Cameeli I have loads of weeds here if you have nothing to do!!! Take it easy will you. Lynne hope those girls are giving you some amusement today, Steph hope you sold out and were not in too much pain. Take care everyone, and congratulations to all this weeks lucky winners xx

  101. Hi Sue,
Good morning to all dear crafting friends!
Such a lovely card today Sue, older or new your results are always inspirational! As has been said today's card is another great all round card. Thank you! Don't have these dies but I'm getting better and better at adaptation! Whew that's a big word for a Sunday morning!
Lovely day again here! So pleased Norah that you have the sunshine today too. Pleased you have got a front door in place and hope you recover from all your efforts soon. I hate being a labourer I never get it right - maybe the instructions are wrong!
Steph hope today goes really well and that you sell loads!
Gail - Happy Birthday to your husband ! Hope you both have a lovely day. You do need a break and something else to occupy your mind - even for just a little while.
Well - my oven broke down this week - being repaired tomorrow but sharing this gem with you as I was expecting family for lunch today! Made a large lamb casserole on the hob - enough for 8 -10 people! They are unable to come! Just found out! Lamb casserole anyone!! All that chopping etc!
Keep smiling everyone - I'm trying to! Just remembered to be thankful for a lovely day, husband and good health. Get things out of proportion occasionally will try harder.
    Love to all ,

  130. Hi Sue,
Lots of detail in today's card. It shows how versatile dies are, no matter how long you have had them, they can all get an airing again. The silver and white is such a clean, crisp look and it's a lovely sentiment.

  132. Hellooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! I love this card Sue. Love how you have used dies and built it up to make a focal point. Gorgeous in the silver and white. I also love how you have used BF bracket corner die to make the lovely focal point in the middle. It's a matter now of getting all the corners out that I have and trying to put them all together to see what I can up with! Thank you Sue for all the inspiration. I hope you're having a wonderful time with your mom and family xx Sending all our Wilsonettes love and a hug who need one and for all who are in pain xx Gail, so glad that you decided to go to the show and a meal for your husbands birthday. You need that you and him time, although your thoughts will be elsewhere I know. The feeling of helplessness is always there...Lyndsey, glad to hear that the mares and foals have enjoyed this bit of sunshine....Lynne, by 'eck those fur babies keep you on your toes! They just love being mischevious don't they? Our two budgies are just as bad. We've not long had new curtains and have had to put a scarf on the left curtain and two scarves on the right one to stop them from chewing at the pleats at the top! There are a string of three hearts hanging from the left side and three plus a large heart on the right side, also to stop them. The little blighters had had a fine time swinging on the large wooden heart while we were out. We didn't know until we spotted wood chippings on the rubber plants leaves.....The next thing on the agenda is two swinging chimes!! Fingers crossed...Congratulations to all you lucky winners! Wonderful! Enjoy your prizes! Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. xx Love Karen xx
