Gilded Lace Panel

Hi bloggers!  Today's card is the reason that I wanted a longer border in the California Collection.  You can easily offset the pattern with a 9" long border and still make a large card if desired.  I love this style card as it is just so easy and really gives a wow for the recipient too.  I hope you can take a few minutes to enjoy the video.

Buy from Joanna Sheen

Finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and all the crafty crew.
Just a rich and opulent card. I adore the Californian collection and have used it now on several wedding cards, it just screams quality...
Thinking of you Tina and a hug for you too Pam..

  10. Gorgeous card, Sue, great use of the border (feel a need!!) and frugal use of the flakes - I probably would have gilded the entire sheet which of course is madness having seen how easily you achieved the gilding with the borders in place. Always something new - thank you for the video.

  49. Good morning Sue & blog friends,
What a really pretty card, reminds me of 'Lacey knickers',
Gorgeous lace design on that border, it's so worth the every penny it cost, when you use it, it does all the work for you, you need very little else, this is up there as one of the best dies in your range Sue, I love it!
Oh Cameeli could you stop by and pick me up, I haven't had a swim in ages!? I bet the allotment is peaceful haven at that time of the morning!
Tina, my thoughts are with you, I have experienced exactly what you are going through, it's so hard, but does get easier as time passes, virtual hug on it's way to you.
Hope the sun shines on all of you today, Norah I hope you aren't too sore after your weekends DIY!

  50. Hi Sue. This is simply beautiful : )
Perfect for just about any occasion. Once again you show how much thought you put into the design of your dies by making sure that it can be extended so easily:) I got my parcel containing some of your dies (I am still waiting for the faux quilled leaves to come back into stock but couldn't wait for the other dies) from Joanna Sheen yesterday afternoon so guess who's getting the ironing done early then I'm having the rest of the day to play with my gorgeous dies : ) Good timing to keep me busy as our daughter has a second interview with a big accountancy firm AND her driving test today so my fingers are tightly crossed for her : )
    Pam,a hug for you.
Tina E, my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your Dad.
"P" in Wales, I would have gilded all of the card too, when Sue started to stick the first border down I thought she had made a mistake. I should have never doubted Sue should I! It makes so much sense not to waste the gilding flakes, or having to glue the borders on afterwards.
Sending Tandy and all that need one a hug.
Norah, Congratulations on getting a job finished! I wonder why he did it this time, I would love to know so I can get my hubby to do the same. I am sometimes tempted to only iron one leg of his jeans, or half a shirt to see what the reaction would be, but know it would drive me mad knowing it wasn't finished. Bless them : )
Have a good day, we are forecast some rain today, still warm out though. Take care.

  52. Hi Sue,
Love it! The border is just beautiful especially with the gilding flakes behind. I tried to do this with one of the striplet dies but like a twit used glue to attach the flakes to a full sheet of card to put the striplet over. That was when I gilded the cat if you remember! Why oh why did I not think of doing it this way!!! How much easier , cheaper and less messy it would have been. Still I'll remember now!
Tina and Pam hugs to you both. Gail hope things are getting sorted for your brother. Steph & Norah hope you're ok. Lynne hope fur babies behave today ( although secretly I love it when they are being little tinkers!), Lindsay hope foals are doing ok. Love & hugs to everyone else.xxxxAlison

  81. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a really gorgeous card this morning and i can actually make it because i have this die. Crikey jings, that's 2 in 2 days that i have actually got the ingredients to make the card, oh what a happy bunny i am. I think this card could look well for a wedding, anniversary, or birthday with a little bit different touch to make it fit the occasion.
Good morning Tandy, so nice to see you back again. Why can't people look where they are going instead of wandering around in their own wee world. I wonder if they ever stop to think about what a persons life is like before they ram trolley us. Sorry you have been through the mill with your back again, i hope that it is at least easing off a bit for you now.
Hi Michele, Sue did promise us that the folders where on a reprint or remolding run and is going to let us know when they will be available again as they had been retired, but so many of us were still trying to get hold of it, but i think it should be soon(probably wishful thinking on my part).
Johanna, you have just made me sound normal, but from experience i know i told hubby to lift the case and put it in the car, so i'm on your side, it's his fault. Your daughter would appreciate the work you did though. Is she feeling any better since her holiday into the hospital? I do hope so and that she is coming back to being her old self again.
What a beautiful day we have got up here at the Costa de Glenochil with the trees lightly swaying in the breeze(wind really, but spoils the picture) and the wispy clouds floating past in the sky, some having a little nap on top of the hills. I am going to try and meet my friend through at Falkirk for coffee and a look round Dunelm and Hobbycraft, but i just might need the scooter today as body is still moaning, but these places are not really me friendly, never mind scooter friendly. I have tried to giving the body a severe talking to but it is just ignoring me as usual.
Thinking of you Tina at this sad time for you and sending cyber hugs and a shoulder for you to lay your face into. I lost my beloved dad 6 yeas ago and miss him so much. He was a man with a very dry sense of humour that not a lot of people got or could tell when he was in his joking mode. I talk to him and my brother everyday, but it is so hard. So i am sending the hugs that you need and the shoulder to cry on. Take care flower, we are all thinking of you.
Gentle hugs to all our fragile friends here in Sue' blog,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  107. Hi Sue, managed to grab a few minutes whilst poochies asleep and watched today's video. Thank you for the clear instructions, I too would have flaked the whole sheet without the
aid of the video. Just had to purchase the verdigras flakes as they look so lush. Love your stick pins they add such glamour to your creations. This card is ideal for most occasions and I can't wait for my gilding flakes to arrive to have a play. Lol to you and mom x x x

Fur babies are still up to their tricks , sternly told them yesterday that I was going to have a lazy day after they drove me nuts over the weekend. I got the usual response from them Tilly's eyes glazing over and Cully looking everywhere but me!!!. Well I carried on and decided that I would catch up a bit on my reading as I was half way through a really good story. It is fatal not to keep an eye on my two cuz ( was in the garden reading) after awhile I thought better check to see what they are up to , going into the lounge I found cream coloured fibres on the floor and just couldn't think where they had come from. In runs Tilly with cream fibres all around her mouth. It then hit me that the cushions on the settees are cream, so checking each one I saw a big hole in the corner of one!!!!. Tilly must have seen the look on my face cuz she ran upstairs and hid behind our bed. I can honestly say that some days I dread to think what my little b's will get up to next.

Lindsay , Lynda, June, Alison , Norah , Myra, Tres - lol and hugs to you from fur babies x x

  124. Hi sue, lovely card and video, I will do this technique later today,
Sue sorry I have not left any comments in the last few days,
I have a really bad infection on one side of my face,
    It was so funny,
I sat down at the doctors table and he looked at me on my good side, and said what can I do for you Julie,
so I turned to him and all I got was, oooo good gracious me, I could not stop laughing but it really hurt when I laughed, anyway I'm getting better now and can start to see again, just wish people would not look straight at my husband after seeing my face lol.
    Crafty hugs Julie xxx

Sending hugs to all that need one love Julie xx

  134. Hi Sue,
    Great Card - Great Video!
I have this set so will definitely be giving this a try. I have used the border with micro beads but as others have said stuck down entire sheet! You're so clever. I love this die set as have used the corner a lot also. Added some tulle to my crafty stash just recently. So much in the pack it will last for years!
Julie so sorry - your poor face! Ouch! x
Sam - fingers crossed for the next couple of hours or so - hope the birthday barbecue goes well. So much easier outside than indoors.
Tina sending sincere sympathy . X
Lynne aren't dogs fun?! Well - maybe sometimes it gets harder to see the funny side! Whatevere else they are keeping a lot of bloggers highly entertained! X
Love to all, thinking of those who are going through tough times.

  135. Hi Sue, time for 11sies ? Afternoon Wilsonettes, another beautiful sunny but oppresive sticky, with no coolish breeze - any pleasing us ere brits I wonder : )

Oh Sue, magnificently easy, but outstanding beauty with class and opulance is all I can say about your eye catching card today. Thank you for your great tutorial too ( and I must say, I love Kitty's idea about your tutorials on cd) I also apologise as we all know how busy you are, its just that my grey matter understands more when it can watch, give it written instructions, and it runs off to find Norah's grey matter ! I look forward to watching them as much as I love looking at the end products every morning, so thank you Sue. I adore the length of todays die as.my cards tend to be 8x8's but also lend themselves to the smaller cards which I find a lot more difficult to keep 'neat' looking, so this set may have to work its way to the top of my wedding anniversary list, but what about the rose die, ooooh I dont know, what a crafting dilema I have !
Well Cassie is moaning and whinging in a 'woe is me' manner as Mr L has gone out and her world is falling apart and my ear drums are exploding !!! So I'll send hugs to my dear friends, some need hugs more than others, so Pam a big one for you and our dear Tina, and a gentle caring cuddle to Gail and family.
To our fairycraft mother - have a wonderful day full of happiness and sunshine.
    Love you.
    Lancashire Steph xx

Oh Julie your poor face, hugs to you.

  138. Hi Sue

What are you doing to my 'neeeed' list?! I have been repeatedly looking at the stamps thinking how pretty they are, then thinking I have enough stamps for the whole of Suffolk, let alone me, then you show another one actually stamped and I *have* to add it to the list!

The use of the border die is genius, that is on the list too! I do have a striplet though which is perfect for my not A4 cutting machine. I have lots of Spellbinders border dies so I'm now wondering how to utilise those in a similar way.

The table is still alluding me, as soon as I feel I might get up there the world of paperwork, forms and scanning documents to go with them gets in the way. That's what I have to do next so my 'Sue Wilson video binge' that I was planning will be postponed. I might have an early night, snuggle up with my oversized fur child and watch with a nice cup of decaf. Does that sound good to anyone else or just me!

I'd better not stay up too late or that table will remain out of reach!

    Crafty hugs to all,

    T x

  162. Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Oh what a gorgeous card x What a stunning border. Wonderful that it can be used for scrap booking too. As for the gilding flakes (they are gorgeous!), I would have done exactly as some of our Wilsonettes would have done.....gilded a whole sticky sheet first....! I love your videos and the one today has been fantastic! So simple yet what a gorgeous product at the end. There is a couple who we know that are going to America to renew their wedding vows and this card would just be wonderful. Perfect! Thank you Sue xx
Tina, thinking of you and sending love and hugs xx
Lynne, I don't know, that's some serious mischief your fur babies are doing.....I can imagine you must be tearing your hair out. About your cushions, the only thing I can think of is putting up a video so you can record them up to mischief and send it off to You've Been Framed....at least you'll get some money back to buy new cushions.... As for our two budgies, we've had to put up an orange scarf along with the two purple ones. We caught them red handed trying to "arrange" them! Up to yet they're keeping away although they are eyeing it up. Hoping to get two hanging chimes from town tomorrow...lol! Sending hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are going through a hard and sad time xx Love Karen xx
