Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!  I did say that I would be posting some older cards and I thought this one was nice enough for the card giveaway today.  I started by selecting some mid grey card and I taped the Large Polka Dot Mask over it.  I used the clear Texture paste and spread it through the mask on to the card.  Once I was satisfied it was all nicely covered, I peeled away the mask and decided to add some bling to it by drizzling it with Iced Snow.   Since the paste was wet, it stuck quite nicely.   I set it aside to dry for several hours before assembling my card.  In the meantime, I set to work on my focal element.  I stamped the Vintage Labels Seven Rose by Justrite on to white card with a clear perfect medium pad.  I heat embossed the stamped image with silver shine embossing powder.  I cut it out with the Vintage Labels seven die and inked it lightly with Tattered Rose before removing it.  I stamped it on more time and embossed it again, but this time, I cut out by hand the centre rose circle.  I used Distress markers to colour it and I added it with foam for dimension to the other die cut to create the focal point of my card.  Using Gold Elements Four, I cut out one large and two smaller frames out of white card.  Once my background was dried, I used the silver seam binding to weave through the frames to create a buckle card effect.  I taped the ribbon ends to the back of my background.   I tied a messy bow and added it to the side with glue dots.  I added a vintage silver button to my bow and two stick pins.  I mounted my rose  die cut in the centre.  I finished the card with some matting and layering with pale pink and white mats and some of my usual piercing too.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 7" in size.  Please leave me a comment if you would like to be in the drawing to win this one.  I will announce the winner on Saturday's blog post as usual.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Thank you so so much for today's gift. One of my favourite flowers are roses - in any shape or colour and today's gift just sets the rose stamp where it truly belongs - centre stage.
I have a large spot emboss folder and never know what to do with it.After today's gift I will try something similar and see what happens. I know with it not being a mask I will have to think a little out of my box. (ayhope that makes sense to someone). Today's colour scheme is also beautiful as roses/silver really do match.
    Crafting today - Yipeeeeh.
Take care and see you tomorrow.

  78. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Sorry Sue, it's just not me today but i know that there will be a lot more people that will enjoy it's scheme of colouring and adornments. It also gives us ideas about what else we can do with our masks and dies. I think i am going to change your name as i really think that fairy craftmother suits you down to the ground. Hope that you are getting to enjoy some of the time with mum while back across the 7 seas.
Jean D, i am so glad that Gary? is getting well enough for you to leave him in his girlfriends hands to take care of him. I hope that some of the pain has subsided now for him, so that he can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Margaret with the poor wee terrified corgi, i know the feeling as my Tia thinks that the place to be when lightening or fireworks take off is on mums' lap. See trying to comfort a full grown lab that is shaking to bits on my lap is almost impossible and it takes forever to get my legs back to working position.
Hope the face is going down a bit now Julie with the antibiotics. I get black eyes like a panda when bad and yes the world looks at them and thinks the worst. Mines wouldn't need to try it, i still have my nana's heavy biscuit rolling pin that takes two hands to lift it never mind swinging it.
Mrs B, how did your daughters driving test and interview go yesterday as i was fingers crossed for a happy outcome on both for her. Would your other half notice if you had only have done his clothes as i don't think mine would. Crikey when i got my hair cut and coloured last year, it took him a fortnight to notice any difference.
Lynne you now know that you can't just ignore your two wee bundles of mischief as they are like my brother was, if you couldn't hear him, he was upto something and normally something that he shouldn't have been. Mum bought bright yellow paint to paint the indoor coal cellar that we had as the time. Jim being Jim thought he would be helpful and pain mum's shed. Need i go on in this line of the story....mum came around the back of the garage to come in the back, stop and then the whole street heard her shout on him. In the meantime she's coming up the stairs to his room as he is out the window and shimmies up the drain pipe, upto the roof and down the apple tree and away, she calmed down eventually.
Barbara, i am going to Ingleston, just waiting on my tickets arriving for Sunday. I am going with my friend and i would be really chuffed to bits to meet some of my lovely Wilsonette friends. I think i will be putting on my WOW badge again just incase i am lucky, so please say hello to the daft woman in the scooter.
Ohhh Hobbycraft was a great shop yesterday for knitters. They are stop doing the big balls of Aran for the babies, so they had it at £4 for 400grams and it was still buy 2 get a 3rd free. I now have 6x400grm balls of white, same of baby pink, 800grams blue, 9x400grams of the cream and a 400 gram ball of an airforce blue. Now, the point is where do i hide it from hubby as my wool cupboard already needs someone up against it to hold it shut while someone else snibs it. Now i think that was a really good buy and not one i am ever going to get again so i was thinking frugully. Please someone agree with my tactics,
See you all tomorrow hopefully, sending gentle hugs to our more fragile of friends on the blog as i am thinking of you today.
    Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil) with the sun out the front and the black sky out the back today. I wonder what will win the day?

  87. Good Morning Sue & lovely Blog friends,
What a pretty image that stamp has, I must put those distress markers on my wish list, you seem to get fabulous results when you colour with them, they are clearly richer in pigment than the ink pads themselves!
Do you treat them like watercolours?
All alone here today (apart from our new additions Bella & Milo) the two cutest kittens ever! So I think I will spend the day in my craft room and see what I can create! I will watch back your video tutorials for some ideas!

  94. Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes. This is so unusual of me, so sorry Sue, do I not blog today rather than 'hurt your friendly feelings' or tell a porky ?
Janet (Sheffield) I have a small dotty embossing folder and only ever used it for plain straight forward dry embossing, but now looking at todays background I bet we could get a kinda similar effect by letter pressing - what do you think ? We'd get the raised dots and could either apply flake and glitter glue once the card has been removed from the folder then sprinkle bling over the top, would that give a similar look seasoned Wilsonettes ? At first glance at the card I thought they were small sparklers and thought 'wow Sue you are being generous with your blingy sparklers, only me ay !!? Its a very clever background. I have two masks, I tried embossing and 1st attempt wasnt brilliant, so now thanks to you Sue and your brilliance and knowledge, I can TRY and put my masks to better use !

Tina you are in my thoughts. And around if you need to scream if you find yourself alone.

    Wednesday hugs to 6am Pam : )
And to any of our lovely family out there, a hug has been put to one side for you if you need it throughout today.

A SPECIAL hug for our Momma Wilson, for without you, Particraft would not be here for us all.

    Lobe you.

  113. Hi Sue, omg love this card. The texture paste/iced snow background is soooo blingy, you just cant have enough bling. Love the colour of the rose, well truth to tell love all the elements of the card. Love to you and mom x x lynne m 'n' your adopted fur babies ( more than happy for them to come to stay with their Auntie Sue for awhile)

I think fur babies got the hint yesterday that I was on my last nerve , cuz they were like shadows and followed me everywhere. When I sat down on the settee Tilly came running over jumped up, sat right next to me with her chin on me looking up into my eyes. I know I should have remained firm but her look was so comically contrite ( if she tried I'm sure she could have squeezed a tear out) that I had to laugh which both took as thats ok we've got round mum again. Well the day passed of uneventful until Tilly caught and ate a fly which made her quite sick silly girl. Bedtime came and what a shock gets in bed screams jumps back out hubby runs up wondering what the matter is - "there's something in the bed" I shout - he has a look and starts laughing - its only one of poochies toy bones - how that got in the bed I dont know. Hoping today is quieter but not believing it will be.

    Lol and hugs to all my friends x x x x x

  118. Good morning Sue

This is a lovely card with definite vintage feel and I love the background; like droplets of frosted water certainly not bubble wrap! I think it was a great idea but I guess you can't please all the people all of the time and at least you experiment and I for one am very glad that you do.

Funny enough I bought some textured paste just yesterday but I bought white with the view to adding colour as and when and for what I may need at the time. I haven't used it before but have seen some lovely creations with people who do altered art using it so can't wait to have a go with my masks.

Thank you Sue so much for sharing your things. After all every time you share one of your creations with the us you share a small part of yourself as well which in turn adds a charming vulnerability to your posts which is very endearing.

Anyone who wins this card wins more than just the card per se they will have a small part of you as well :)

  138. Very different card today than those we have been seeing Sue, although you could tell it was a Sue card without any doubt, lovely tonal work and the buckles just finish it.
Poor fur babies Lynne, fancy being cross with them, and after all that the left you a nice present in bed. Our boys didn't have so much exercise yesterday as we went to ikea to get some office furniture for my daughter who is doing her pcge in September. The office is to be her former bedroom on the second floor, so while we were putting up the flat packs they were having a ball running up and down two flights of stairs, they are not normally allowed upstairs except for bed time, at least they were well exercised!
Julie milk the swollen face if people think your husband did it, I'm due you could secure a die from it!
Jean so pleased you are back home now and your son is bring looked after.
Norah, Steph, Lynne, Pam, Cameeli, Alison and all the Wilsonettes big hugs to you all, and a special one for both Sue and Tina xxx
