Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello my crafty friends!  Today's card giveaway is from the gorgeous Hydrangea set by Justrite and I think it is a lovely set to make cards with as well.  I started by stamping the Justrite Tufted Background on to periwinkle card using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder for a regal look.  I used the matching Vintage Labels Seven die to cut an aperture in the centre of the card. On a separate piece of white card, I stamped my sentiment and embossed it in gold.  I lightly inked around the sentiment with Weathered Wood Distress Ink to create a shadow.   I added some mounting foam to the background aperture and popped it over the stamped sentiment so it showed in the upper corner of my aperture.  I trimmed the excess away, leaving a very thin white mat.  Next I stamped the Hydrangea on white card with a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it in gold as well.  Using Distress markers, I coloured the flower and leaves, dabbing them with blues and purples for a more realistic looking flower and then cut it out by hand (I left in the small bits within the leaves).  I mounted it on foam so it was coming up out of my aperture.  Using a blue marker, I lined the tufted background lines to create the look of shadowing, then added small white flatback pearls to each of the cross sections.  I finished the card with a pierced gold layer, then added in some white and blue before finishing with a final soft gold layer.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 7 1/4" (a real baby size for me! LOL)
If you want to be in the drawing to win this one, just leave a comment on the post today!  I will announce the winner on Saturday's post.  All for now, Sue x

  92. Hi everyone, well my craft room is finished and I am so happy as my mojo had left for card making for a while but it's on it's way back now, and what a fabulous card we have this morning. I love the shadow effect(wouldn't have thought of that) it looks brilliant. The sentiment is fab and what a lovely place it is in rather than just smack in the middle it gives the eye so much more to look at. Love your dabbing technique on the flower. this would look great in my room just what I need to finish it off an original Sue Wilson. I have been a Wilsonette for so long I've almost given up that I will ever win one. have a great day today, if you are ill (as I am)or upset look in the mirror and smile, Tomorrows another day. hugs Theresa x

  93. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
The hydrangea is one of my favourite flowers because of all the different tones of colour that can come out in the one plant. You have managed to capture the tones brilliantly Sue as i thought you had cut out and layered as in decoupage. I have had to look at the rest of the pictures to check it out. It just looks so 3 dimensional the flower and is just so right, wonderful. I like the periwinkle colour of card, it is so lovely and soft looking a colour.
"P" in Wales, i am so sorry that you have lost your little Molly. Although i am not a cat person i know just how much love they give unconditionally. It's amazing how clapping a 4 legged faithful friend can release so much without realising. They come for a cuddle as is they know you are in need and they listen without judgement. I know that there is a number of us that knows your pain and would give you a hug and an ear if only we could, some like Tina who is just trying to come to terms with each day without her beloved Berkeley. We are here for you when you need us, flower. Tina, i am hoping that you will find comfort in remembering Berkeley's funny bits that she did and be able to come back to us soon as we are all thinking of you.
Lynda, i really need to find my brain and soon. I read it as you were at Broadstairs....ooops,sorry. I know i have a giggle when people see Glenochil and say is that not where the prison is and i reply yes, but they let me out on good behaviour. Now that Steph has her younger brain back, i notice there was no news of mine and how she manage to get a younger one back in place of her own i wonder. Who does she know that we don't that she can't get back one younger than the one that went away to meet mine up the Ochils? I think it might have got missing in action, although i don't know what action that might have been. I'm hoping that it stays away now until after the show as then it can't tell me off and nark at me to be sensible.
Have a great day everyone even if it is the most rotten of weathers, think on a sunny destination and let your mind drift off to peaceful shores.
Love and crafty hugs to ALL of the most terrific people assembled in one very special blog.

I must start to invest in a few TH distress ink pens (although I doubt the outcome would be as pretty as your's Sue) although I do remember loving colouring 100's of years ago.!
This is going to be another sad and weird feeling day for you Pam, thinking of you trying to get through today, as Im thinking of Tina and family, we are here for any Wilsonette that's going through dreadful times, and feeling sad and unwell - YOUR NOT ALONE.
Off for a battery of tests today, scans, bloods, injections etc so NO playtime for me today : (
I think I remember reading one of our Wilsonettes are getting their nerve blocks today ? Hope it works and helps you lots.

Gold and blue look great and such a change from Blue and silver. What i would give to win this card, but at least it gives me something to aim for. 125. Hello Sue,
I LOVE this card, yes another to add to my list of cards to make (try to make)
When I first looked at the picture of this card I really thought you had used an embossing folder for the background - you really have created a wonderfully illusion using the blue to shadow the gold lines. And when I first saw the hydrangea stamp I thought - okay - fine another stamp - now I look and think I want I want I want ..... Sue you have made me fall in love with this stamp!!!
I would so love to give this card a home I promise you it would be treasured.

  126. Hi Sue this is a gorgeous card, the colours and stamp are beautiful. I love these flowers on the plants in real life. To me this card looks like a wall hanging because it is dimensional. Don't know why it seems different as other cards are also dimensional. May be the flower coming through the background.

You can buy it from Sam Poole's shop or Emerald Crafts both are internet shops. Just pop the names into a search bar and they should come up. I think Julia Watts may have it to on her Amazon shop on the net to. Hope this is helpful love Tres x x x

Boy, oh boy what a stunner! It's the little details in this card that make it simply wonderful. I read through your description on how it was made and made my own rough sketch using dies and stamps that I already own, so now I can make something similar but adding in my own touches. Thank you Sue for so carefully writing up how you make your cards, as I'm sure I and others would still be scratching our heads trying to work it out! lol.
