True Friends

Hello my blog family!  Today's verse says it all for me where friends are concerned.  Today's offering was done in lavender and gold (even though the beads on my stick pins look blue, they are lavender). I started with the Butterfly Kisses background stamp by Justrite and I inked it with a piece of cut 'n dry foam and our Flake and Glitter glue.  I stamped it on to lavender card and let it sit while I cleaned the glue off my stamp.  Once the glue has gone clear, I gilded it with Mulled Wine Gilding flakes.  Next I covered the piece with a sticky adhesive sheet, peeled the backing paper off and covered it with Iced Snow (Fire and Ice Technique)  I cut a border from my Lattice Bow die set and added it to the left with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.  I stamped the sentiment from the Friendship Vintage Labels Seven set by Justrite and embossed it in gold.  I cut it out with the matching label shape and inked through the die lightly with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.  I cut another on in soft gold card and cut in in half to mount as a shadow behind my sentiment.  I tied a messy bow out of mauve seam binding, added a bow out of gold cord then topped it with a satin ribbon rose (these are already made and sold by CR EXP).  I made two fancy stick pins from beads in my stash.  Creative Expressions sells the blank pins for these and you can attach the beads with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Lacquer or Glossy Accents.  I finished the card by piercing my lavender mat, then adding a thin mat of soft gold card and a final lavender mat.  Finished dimensions are 6" x 7" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Today's gift is so very special as it has the sentiment that says all about friendship. I love the format and the colour scheme of course but as I say today's words have the top spot. Your true friends always come to the fore when you are in the very depths and I'm sure that many of us have been there. Today is the 22nd anniversary of the death of my Granddaughter - she would be 26 now. Thinking of all of you.

  75. Good morning Sue and all my fellow Wilsonettes,
What a beautiful card Sue but i will just have to take your word on the lilac part as it is just coming out white on my screen. The words are oh so true and so apt. Another beauty to add to your probably over flowing box of delights.
It is lovely to see Pam's name here again even if it is just briefly, it is so nice. But where is Cameeli? It is so strange seeing top of the leader board and not having her there. I wonder how many of us switch on the computer and the first thing they do is open up Particraft from their favourites folder? I know that it doesn't matter when i am able to go on the computer, this is my first stop. Can i say you are in with the tablets Sue as a must.
Karen (Stafford) i hope that your mum has a lovely time with her family this weekend on such a milestone birthday. Enjoy your special time with her and many happy returns to her.
Janet(Ecco), please have lovely memories of your granddaughter, not regretful ones. I lost my twin when we were 20 and still miss him every day 27 years on. I am trying not to hold onto the anger that i have for the drunken army officer who was driving but it is hard. I talk to him and my "daddy" on a regular basis because they are never far away, i just can't see them. I tell my children what he was like, as he loved children and the loving side of him came out whenever there was a child or animal around. I love all these bits about him but i still remember what a pain in the utmost he could be as well which was most of the time. If you couldn't hear him, he was up to something, you can better your last penny on it.
I love seeing where all the Wilsonettes are from as i can imagine or in some cases visualize the places as being there as a child on holiday going through them in my dad's caravanette as we traveled around. It raised the ultimate question of course that every child in the land has asked, "are we there yet" or "when will be there". Happy days of youth spent waking up at different places each day.
Back to present day and it is a horrible day out there, i hope you have better weather wherever you are today. Me, i'm going back to the different places that i loved as a child, so see you all tomorrow hopefully,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

Good Morning Sue and all the crafty crew!! Sorry I am late today earliy mongn fire inspection, so just a few minutes to drop in.
I cannot put into words how much I love this card, and the colour comination,it has to be my favourite so far, and I love the sentiment. The secret garden just makes it perfect for me.

Pam, glad you popped in today, whenever I am lost or very sad, I often turn to writings of Philosopher "Rabindranath Tagore" I find his wisdom in all things most comforting and uplifting and hope you may find his words a comfort too.

Peace my heart... Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Let it not be a death but completeness. Let love melt into memory and pain into songs. Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest. Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night. Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence. I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

Deborah congratulations on becoming a grandmother!!

Whatever your are all doing today spare a thought for all our bloggers happy or sad and find joy in the sunshine, the spring flowers, and birdsong. Have a lovely day and a great weekend!!

Cameelie what a stunning verse I hope you dont mind that I copied it. My Mum used to say beautiful words in a card were worth far more than a present. Sorry if I haven't spelt your name properly.

  117. Hi Sue,
I would never have put lavender and gold together but they look really lovely.
Low cloud and chilly here in my part of the Yorkshire Dales today.
Hope tomorrow is better as a friend is celebrating her birthday and four of us are going by train to Carlisle on the Settle - Carlisle Railway.
