Gilded Aperture

Today's card is a really pretty one that, if you like the gilded look, you will love. If you have a fear of gilding flakes, fear no more, you can see just how easy they are to use (messy, but fun and easy! LOL)

If you are around today, Julia Watts has two shows with new stamp designs today at 10 am and 3pm.  I bet she will have some lovely samples and demos to show you too!  Don't forget to tune in.

Buy from Joanna Sheen

Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  15. Morning Momma Wilson, morning Wilsonettes. Sue, Sue, Sue, its those pesky guilding flakes again, along with that flake and glitter glue. I cant make my mind up which one of the two laughs at me more ! But I must admit when its done properly without fear and attacked with gusto it looks beautiful, I just have a worry that when Im tapping the glue onto the stamp and it gets inbetween the design the whole effect will be ruined, therefore my friendly little cocktail stick comes into play to remove those bits of stray glue from the area's that shouldn't have gloopy sticky glue on ! 1 tip I do have, is brown parcel paper - if you lay your work and container of flakes on the sheet of brown paper it seems to cut down on the static, consequently cutting down on the amount of flakes you end up wearing !
Does today's card look a copper colour on your screen or is it just my phone screen, or did I not take notice of the colour card that was used ? Wjat a great excuse to re-watch Sue's video again, there again, who needs an excuse to keep watching : )
Id love to be able to make a card this beautiful and to this standard for my friend, and 1 day when I've got more confidence, thanks to Sue and the great instruction we get via these video's I will.
Have a great day my friends.
    Hugs.

  16. Morning Sue, A really lovely video and a really beautiful card. That background stamp is stunning, I haven't used mine yet, but I will definitely be trying it with the gilding flakes, it looks stunning, and I love the aperture frame over the top, it frames the background beautifully, and the 'sugared' flowers are gorgeous.
I'll be watching Julia this morning, looking forward to it.

  20. Love the layout but not sure if the color(s) are presented well on my computer screen. The center seems to have a bit of "reddish" on it and it I think it doesn't fit together with white and black. Hmmm, maybe it is just the screen :)

  53. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Sue, i think you are trying to do a challenge Sue (not Anneka) on Steph and me with those beautiful gilding flakes. It is a beautiful card but i think i will give it a miss the now for imitating it as the hands have joined the rest of my body in the non cooperation stakes. I love the glistening sparkle that you have added to the rolled edges of the roses, it looks like they have been touched by snow.
Steph i hope you got on well with your tummy doc yesterday. I was just thinking after your remark about giving him a handmade card, i wonder how many handmade cards they have had from a happy patient? hmmm? You have a big order that is just getting bigger, so why do you keep doubting your obvious brilliant abilities. People wouldn't ask you or pay you if your cards weren't any good. You need a good dose of self worth but that's not the right word, sorry the brain has went on strike again, ask me at 2.30 am i will probably have remembered what the right words i want to say.
Thank you Margaret Corgi owner for where to get the ready made pearl cluster embellishment, i will see what they have. I wonder if they do tiny orders as big orders is not a possibility.
Tina flower, i hope Berkeley is feeling better soon as, as with children you just can't help but worry, or may be that's just me that has a 4 legged child. I'll tell you she is so much better behaved than the 2 legged kind.
Going to say bye now see you all tomorrow hopefully, so tired today so going back to bed, oh how i hate this blasted CFS or ME as it used to be. The energy has left me somewhere and it has taken time off to go on holiday i think, well it might have taken the rest of me with it.
    Love and crafty hugs

  68. Hi Sue
Another stunning gilded card today. Must have a go at doing this sometime, when I don't have hubby saying what a mess this place looks, it needs clearing up. And that's just with my stamping. I have a small craft room but never seem to have enough room in it. So I seem to spread to our very large dining table. keep practising Steph with them, and why do you not think a lot of your card making. I would think they would be fantastic seeing as people keep giving you orders for them. Norah hope you get to get back to bed for a nice long rest. Will watch the video later and will be recording Julia's show as usual. Hope Dawn doesn't take over as usual, and let's Julia get a word in edgeways.

  88. Hi Sue. As always a fab video and a gorgeous card today !! I really enjoyed watching your video today Sue with the gilding flakes. You have used elegant labels four !! I had this set of dies on my wish list for a very long time and I finally got them for Christmas. I am so pleased you have used these dies, and what a stunning card you have created with them !! I have the background stamp and tried the gilding flakes with it but I got really scared because the stamp stuck to the card and I had to rip it off and then I panicked as I could not get the glue off the stamp quickly enough !! Thankfully my hubby came to the rescue and sorted out the stamp for me !! It really put me off and I have not attempted it since. After seeing your video I think I need to give it another try !! I would really love to make this card. It is just beautiful.
Happy Crafting and lots of love to everyone love Tres x x x

  99. Hi Sue, Pretty and very good card today and I loved the video; it is so much better than following a step by step guide. I do a lot of these for the IT programs I support at work and I sometimes wonder if the users would benefit from a video from me rather than looking at a printed document –which I doubt if they bother to view sometimes judging by the calls I get to show individuals how to do something. Hey ho!

Oh for the day I can retire from work and indulge myself in my crafty hobby!!!!!

  100. Hi Sue

Beautifully messy techniques with stunning results. I have just emailed my friend who I have just got into crafting, and said for her to join your blog because of all the fantastic tutorials and videos, so hopefully you will have another blog follower soon. The only thing is I have just shot myself in the foot as I can't surprise her with anymore of your beautiful cards.

Nora, I have'nt been called flower for years, and it brought back really nice memories. Thankyou for your kind thoughts about my Berekley dog, as I call her. She is being tested for Cushing's disease or Diabetes Insipidus. At the moment she is like a baby, we have to put the alarm on every 2hrs throughout the night or it's swimming pools everywhere. This has been going on for 3wks now. We are all knackered even Berkeley dog. I will let you know results when they arrive. Thankyou again it means a lot.

    Kind regards :-)

That is one that I'd love to have....oooo be still my itchy fingers.....! Lanc Steph, I have the same problem with pearls. They just ping all over the place! I give up after so long as they turn up one way or another....they've even showed up on the bottom of my slippers!! Just to say thinking of you Norah, Lyndsey and Tres. It is hard with health glitches (me too!)but at least it keeps us out of trouble... and it keeps us happy! Thank you all for the real life stories that you put on in the morning. It makes me smile and laugh (it's the way you tell 'em!) and you should all write a book! Thank you for pointing out the pearl embellishment on yesterday's card....I must have missed a line.... not hard with these eyes! Lol! Thank you Sue for the tip and once again for the brilliant videos. Good luck everybody on the Wednesday Giveaway! xx ps Sue, at last I have found a lovely deep photo frame for the gorgeous "Wednesday Giveaway, Thinking of You" card that I was lucky enough to be drawn from last year. It is now taking pride and place in a new (old) cabinet come writing bureu! Hubby is soooo pleased.....only because now I haven't got ANY excuse to leave all my bits and bobs lying all over the place! Sooo glad he's very patient! Take care Sue and everyone. xx Love Karen xx

I have all the elements so will be having a try at this one , I tried the guilding flakes on the angel stamp at Christmas and had to do it a couple of times before I did it right, but I know where I was going wrong I was squeezing the glue directly onto the stamp from the tube instead of putting on some wax paper and using an applicator to apply it , so I was putting far too much on . I love the summer meadow flakes the colours are beautiful and the elegant labels four die is stunning , along with your sugared roses.
    Thanks Sue it's beautiful

  117. Stunning card. I'm determined to try gilding flakes with background stamps after watching the video. Love the flowers. I wouldn't have thought of using a pokey tool to support the flower while I put the glue on for glittering it - so thanks for another helpful video.

  123. Wow, lovely card, I've got to admit, I bought a tub of guilding flakes and I'm ashamed to say that I havent opened them yet, I'm scared of them!

I feel like I will do it wrong and waste them and they are so pretty and shiny :-/
