What Defines Us

Good morning crafters!  This card was supposed to have been done as a demo during the Dec. shows but we never got that far.  At least I can give you a step by step here.  I started with a piece of decorative card from the Teresa Collins paper pack that is exclusive to Creative Expressions.  I covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet and used the Filigree Bracket and Label die to cut an aperture in the centre of it.  I removed the backing paper and micro beaded it for texture.  Using the beautiful Filigree corner die set by Becca Feeken, I cut four of them out of milk coloured card and glued them to each corner.  I added foam mounting pieces to the back of it so it was ready for the next step.  I stamped the sentiment from the Justrite stamp set called What Defines Us set, also by Becca.  I cut it out with the same die used to create the aperture in the centre of the card.  I inked the piece with Tattered Rose before removing it from the die.  The sentiment set has this pretty rose and bud on it so I stamped them around the sentiment and lightly inked the area with Tattered Rose distress ink.  I stamped the roses again on a separate piece of milk card and coloured them with Distress markers (Tattered |Rose and Peeled Paint) and cut them out.  I mounted them with foam on to the original stamped images around the sentiment.  I adhered the background over the top of my sentiment, lining it up carefully to show through my aperture.  I tied a messy bow out of chalk seam binding and I made a special accent embellishment for the centre by cutting a small circle out of card and gluing eight 5mm cream flatback pearls to it.  I finished the card by adding pearle to the corners and a double milk coloured mat with a pierced inner mat layer.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.

  36. Morning Mrs W and all Wilsonettes. What a beautiful way to start my not so lovely Monday as I have a visit to my tummy Consultant this morning, maybe If I try and make a Sue replica (try being the operative word) he maybe so stunned he wont have any nasty suprises for me !
This really is a outright stunner, I love the colour mix. I have milk card and a Becca floral die, the pack with two different size corners, so pretty and ornate, but I never see Teresa's papers in my neck of the woods - where do you shop Myra ? Store or internet ? Why didnt I think of making my embelishment like that yesterday, cuz IM NOT Mrs W that's why ! I was halfway there, cutting the smallest die from a SB tear drop circles but just added 1 pearl, mind you I could add more if my pathetic fingers allow me to, trying to get the feeling in my finger to hold 1 delicate tiny pearl was frustrating enough let alone trying to add a few more, I have to laugh at myself though, if I try tweezers, I have pearls etc pinging up the walls, getting Mr Lancashire on his knees scouring a cream fluffy carpet for teeney weeney cream pearls, so maybe I'll leave it at 1 pearl (watch this space for the 2nd episode of Pearls In Peril) !!
I hope all my lovely friends have a lovely day today. Stay warm, healthy, happy and safe.
    Hugs.
    Lancashire Steph xx

  42. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Well i have a beautiful pink sky to match today's little beauty. Sometimes Sue you come up with a little gem like today's offering when you venture out of your comfort zone. I love the colours and everything about today's card, oh how i need to brush up on my colouring in. I don't have pearl embellishments but i have a lot of wee tiny pearls that i bought up at the SECC show and use them to create a centre to some of my flowers. And because kind Sue showed us last week how to colour the big micro beads (That is a contradiction in terms however) i can now colour them to match the type of flower i am trying to make.
And on colouring in i found a big person's colouring book down in the sale at Hobbycraft, it is ideal for practising on.
Oh how i wish you could see the lovely still morning it is in my village (until the local young racing drivers file out to go to work) looking out onto the Ochil Hills (i'm ignoring the scaffolding that is in line of sight across at my neighbours). You can see every nook and cranny in them and if i was any good at drawing i would draw them for you all to see. Awh well that talent left along with the good hands along time ago, but still being able to make things is a gift in its self.
By the way has anyone got the new kit from Crafters Companion. Hee hee hee, i got it as a gift and while checking through it we have "Finance"'s instead of Fiance which quite appealed to my sense of humour. Contacted CC who thought i was joking, but they will send out and amended sheet. I think i'll keep the first one to have a giggle at.
I wonder what little pearls we are going to have this week.
Hope to see you all tomorrow when i am hopefully on my best behaviour....nope no chance, see you tomorrow,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

  117. Hi Sue

What a day, I looked at your beautiful card early this morning. Then the day went out of control. My dog ( Berkeley ) had to go to the vet for blood test and was kept in all day, on tenderhooks now waiting for the results. I somehow made a card for my son's birthday tomorrow, and then had a phonecall to say say could I take delivery of an item at 11.00pm tonight as the courier was coming from Newquay Cornwall and we are in Salisbury Wiltshire. Only to find the item was in bits on delivery. I am now putting finishing touches to the card, having a chilled glass of wine and reading all about your beautiful card today. Such lovely a colour combo, and I love the paper. I tried the faux leather technique for my sons card, and followed your instructions to the end, and I have to say thank you, it turned out beautifully. I'm really pleased ,I hope he will be too. Sorry my blog is so long I just needed to ramble.

    Good night God Bless
    Kind regards. :-)
