Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi guys!  Today's card is one of those that you really need to see in person so I thought it would be perfect for the Wednesday card giveaway!  You know the drill by now, if you want to be included in the drawing for the card, just leave a comment on the blog.  I started with a piece of kraft card and stamped the rose from What Defines Us stamp set all over it.  I used a clear Perfect Medium pad and then heat embossed them in white powder.  Using distress markers, Spun Sugar and Shabby Shutters, I coloured the roses.  Just a little word about that, though, when you colour with markers on kraft card, it doesn't show up until it dries, it just looks like wet card for a few minutes!  But then the colour comes through and it really pops with the white embossing.  After I finished all the colouring, I embossed the background with the Tied Together embossing folder.  I extended the pattern to cover the entire background.  I cut one of the Scalloped Borders two in coconut white card.  I used blush card to make a matching mat layer for it and glued the piece across the bottom portion of the card.  I tied a messy bow out of seam binding and topped it with a hessian (burlap) rose from my craft stash.  For the focal element, I cut the tag from the Vintage Bracket and Label die set eight times.  I crisscrossed the tags to give a pretty round decorative back piece for my sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment from the What Defines US set on to kraft card using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it in white powder and cut it out with the Stately Circles.   I inked through the die with Antique Linen as an accent.   I cut another circle in blush card and slightly offset it behind the sentiment.  I finished the card with a double white mat layer and a handmade stick pin to give it a bit of bling.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x 8 1/2" in size.

Now for a bit of a confession... I left a box of cards with a coworker to post out for the card giveaway each week while I am in the States.  I thought I would remember which ones I left her but it seems that I have already posted several of them on other days.  So I thought I could just add in one of them here for a multiple card giveaway!  So included for this drawing is this extra card.  All for now, Sue x

I went for a teaching job interview and on the morning completely lost my voice & had to teach a lesson as part of the interview, then unexpectedly the fire alarm went off & I was standing outside in rain & snow for 10 minutes which didn't help - but still got the job, so keep your chin up & just go for it! Steph- hope you're ok . Love to all Alison xx

  39. Morning Wonderful Sue, Morning Wonderful Wilsonettes. I also want to say to Cameeli that I shall be thinking of you tomorrow at your interview and hope the angels take over your voice and kick that devil from your throat ! I suppose they wouldnt be such angelic angels though if they stuck the boot in ! Anyway hon, lots of luck.
Heather, stand back from that GC or invest in cricket pads for your legs (who said crafting had to be glam) : )
Thank you Sue for the chance of receiving two magnificant W.O.W's (Wonders of Wilson) both beautiful in different ways. I've never used craft card but will now and thank you for the tip of the colours not showing straight away, not knowing that I may have filed it under 'B' ! So I'll remember that.
Heads down and no stopping today after my lazy naughty do nothing day yesterday ! And I must experiment with my silicone mat and pricking ruler to save the pain in my hands. On that subject - try and get your ruler and pricking tool from the same store to make sure you get the correct 1 as it is quite fine, nothing worse than getting tools home, feeling all excited to get going only to find the two wont get on !!! Those pesky flakes loved me until I got them home, the Gremlins have nothing in comparrison to guilding flakes, multi-coloured devil's in disguise : 0
Hope all you lovely ladies have a day you wish for and are well. Sue, hope they arn't working you too hard and making the most of the wonderful Florida sun.
    Love you all.

  68. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Sue i maybe being dense here, but what colour did you use around the outside of the flowers as i couldn't see it listed or have you done something else to the edge of the flowers other than the white embossing powder? Being nosey -sorry.
I'm not that sure on the craft card yet but everyone seems to love it, so just me being odder than normal. My favourite part is the border which is so beautiful and i think that i might just have the border...Hooray at last i might have the makings of your card. The fire and ice technique of the 2nd one is really growing on me. This card is so lovely that i think i might have a stab at this one, although like Steph i shall have to shake the gilding flakes at the picture saying to them that they could look that good if they behave. I have all the components just different stamps, embossing folders, and dies but as i say i have all the components, just not in the same shapes or designs as you.
Cameeli flower, i will not be up at the time you set off tomorrow, but i wish you all the luck in the world that you land your dream. Don't beat yourself up if you think later why did i say that... because it sounded right. You have a huge following little band right here putting up that wee word in his left ear and with all our fingers and anything else that we can crossed for you, willing you to succeed. Good Luck flower.
Killie Tracey, i normally go on the Sunday because you can get some good bargains as they don't want to cart them back home, but you can be sure that i will be there in my little scooter and friend in tow. It would be great to meet up with you, that's if we ever get down on the lift to the bottom with that new car park (nightmare). This is my trip that i look forward to from one show to another even if i only have a few pounds to spend. I will try not to demolish the stands this year, unlike last. I went into see that Cardio Stamps last year, only they had their table cloth trailing the floor. Well what can i say, it was fine driving over it, but it caught on my wheels when i tried to come out again and dragged all the lassies stuff onto the ground. What didn't help mattes was that no one behind would move out of the way to let me out, so hey ho... scramble.
Heather flower, thankfully my season ticket for the Infirmary lapsed with Stirling and Falkirk. And i am hoping that it doesn't start back up again with Larbert, sorry Forth Valley Royal. (It's still Larbert, although a posh one, to me).
Well, that's me for today from my Ochils and me, bye, take care everyone and hopefully i'll see you tomorrow. One of these days my dyslexic fingers are going to behave and type accurately so i don't need to go back over and sort it all before posting,
    Love and crafty hugs

Hi everyone! From a very damp and dreary corner of Lancashire! Thank goodness for your blog , Sue! It has an uplifting effect on all of us I think! I'm sorry but the picture of crafting wearing cricket pads was just too much,
I was in fits of laughter.

All the best for tomorrow Cameeli . So many people thinking of you. Trust it helps to know that.

Steph, so pleased you back on form - it doesn't take you long !

Sue, I love today's cards . Thanks for giving two - how kind! I have Kraft card but somehow I'm never really happy using it for cards! All that has just changed I think! As has been said already I would never have thought of stamping/embossing/colouring it! It looks lovely. Thanks for the colouring tips too. I bought some hat pins from Julia - the ones you make yourself - they are fairly thick but such fun to make and you can use any old or broken necklace bits.

  104. Lovely cards Sue and lucky person who wins them.
Lots of my crafty things are still packed away after clearing my dining table for Christmas!! But I'll have to start sorting through to find my dies and stuff.
Longing to buy some border dies but still saving up for them and birthday is not until August which is too long to wait.

  114. Hi Sue

Such a beautiful card today, it has a real sunshine feel about it, and my goodness we could do with it. I love the shadowing around the flowers it gives a misty look to them. Your 2nd card is stunning, I think that might have been the word I used when it was first shown to us not so long ago. I think there are going to be 2 very lucky winners this week to own either of these beautiful cards.

Good luck for tomorrow Cameeli, I hope your wish comes true.

    Kind regards :-)
