Best Wishes

Hello my crafty friends!  I tried to stop myself, but I just couldn't so this one ended up getting fire and iced!  I just think it looks so opulent and ornate in the black white and gold.  I started by cutting two of the Decorative Labels 8 dies in white.  I over lapped them slightly to create  a pretty edge for my card.  I tucked the corners of the soft gold card under the floral pieces in the corners of the die.  I did a bit of matting with both black and soft gold card too.  Next I stamped the Lavish Corner Background from Justrite using our Flake and Glitter glue on to black card.  I gilded the image with the new Verdigris gilding flake colour and cut out the centre with an oval die.   I covered the entire piece with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet and hand cut the oval area out of the centre.  I peeled the backing paper off and covered it with Iced Snow to complete the Fire and Ice technique.  I mounted foam pieces on the back.  I stamped the Moroccan Lattice background on soft gold card with a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with gold  detail powder for a tone on tone look.  I mounted my background over it and matted it with a thin white mat before adding it to the rest of the background I had already prepared.  I stamped my sentiment from the Bold Sentiment set by Creative Expressions and gold embossed it.  I matted the strip with some black and gold card and cut forks in the ends.  I used glue dots to mount it across the opening on my card and give it a bit of shape.  I made a rose using the technique at the top of my blog, then sugared it with Iced Snow.  I added it to the edge of my sentiment strip with some black tulle and some thin gold cording.  Finally I finished the card with a double white pierced mat layer.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

    morning Sue
Opulent it certainly is this morning. I adore the format and the dies used but for me the colour scheme is a little too much out of my box. I would not have used black/gold/white and glitter but having seen today's gift I really must give it a go and step out of that box of mine for a change.
Getting ready for my first crafty afternoon tomorrow with my knit and natter/crafty friends. It's my turn to do the demo card so it has to be correct and make sure everyone has all the bits and pieces needed.

  33. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Well that's the holidays over and hubby and no.1 son back to work and school, so peace reigns serene across a lot of households in the land.
Well today's card is so way out of my way of thinking and i am trying hard to open up my mind to different methods and looks, but i can't open up to it all at once. I love the decorative label 8, i love the flakes, i love the ice but i just don't know about them all together. I'm one of those people that can't have anything touching on my plate and i think this is a similar type of the thing for me, sorry. The iced rose i am going to try as i just love how it turns out.
I hope that everyone who has been out of sorts over the festive period is feeling so much better now and ready for the next onslaught of work, traffic and rude people that don't look where they are going and just bash, stand on and positively barge their way through to get there 30 seconds earlier than they would have done with a wee drop manners.
    See you all tomorrow hopefully,
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Glenochil)

Can you please give us advice as to what weight of card/paper you use for the various parts of your cards including the flowers? I like a substantial card rather than flimsy but don't want to go over the top.

  102. Hiya Sue, hi there all Wilsonettes. Sue, if you want to Fire and Ice, then you Fire and Ice away you raskle you : ) unfortunatly when my brain hears me think Fire and Ice it thinks - you wish, one or the other lady, you dont have the brain power to do both at the same time ! Well one day I'll show it I DO have the capacity, thats when the guilding flakes have stopped laughing at me ! You always make your cards look so easy Sue, especially when you treat us to the video tutorials, which by the way are so useful and helpful. I love this card today, it looks SO rich and opulant, and would look wonderful on anyone's fire place or coffee table (or above my craft table) !
Well almost completed my order, 1 left to make - another for a male Scientist who likes cycling as much as his test tubes ! I bought a bicycle stamp for one of the cards for him, just corporating his profession into the verse, but the next will include his profession on the card itself, so if my local craft store actually decides to open tomorrow I hope I can get a stamp of some description that relates to his work ! MEN !!! All I need to do to complete the others is to do a 'Sue Special' - prick round the edges - yes, I treated myself to a pricking ruler so now I need to get the mat and tool our Sue told us about a few weeks ago (roll on 9pm 12th) : ) cant wait.
Well, after the last of the cards that are driving me doolally, I must start Valentines cards ready for the next market at the end of this month !! Hoping Janet has a great time with her 'ladies' tomorrow and that all my dear friends here are feeling ok.
    Love to everyone.
