Hi bloggers! Just sneaking in another Christmas card for you today. A rather traditional one for me too! I decided a red and white polka dot pattern would make a pretty background for my snowflake so I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and poured micro beads on it for texture (poor thing stood still too long so on went the beads! LOL) I matted it on a piece of coconut white card. I cut a large piece of coconut white to use as my background and embossed it with the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder from Couture Creations. I love this one myself as it is easily lined up to do larger sections. You can't see it very well in the first pic, but the close ups show the lovely pattern quite nicely! I cut my snowflake out of the Snowflake Pendant die for 2012 and the Create A Flake Three die sets and layered them up. A large flatback pearl adorns the centre. I mounted it with foam in the centre of my micro beaded piece to complete the focal element. I tied a double bow from the red Frilly Edged ribbon and finished it with a large pearl embellishment in the centre. I stamped the sentiment in red on a small tag and tucked the end under my pearl embellishment. Finally, to complete the card, I added a pearl swirl spray across the bottom and a double pierced white mat. A really quick one to try, plus you can use up some of those offcuts for the centre beaded area as well! Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size. All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. Firstly I agree with Karenlotty above. Please Please Please can we have some more cards with 2012 christmas dies. I have the tree baubles and snowflakes and the gorgeous holly accents and motifs. This year I bought mr and mrs snowman and the wreath dies too so some more ideas would be very much appreciated.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea for using up those pretty little pieces we just can't seem to throw away! ;) Without the addition of the pearls and bow it would be a lovely card to make in bulk for Xmas - no extra postal charges for the thickness (something that really, really irritates me ;) ).
ReplyDeleteThis will certainly brighten up a winters day Sue. Great for winter/Christmas birthday too.

Dear Sue
ReplyDeleteSorry again to post this late.
What a splendid Christmas card I love the red and white colour scheme it's so cheerful.
I have, hopefully just temporarily, lost one of my snowflake dies much to my dismay I have been decorating the edges of my cards with Snowflakes I'd die cut. I hadn't thought to use the snowflakes as a focal image on the card but it looks amazing, I might just have to borrow this idea for some of my cards this year as I have so many to make.
I love the microbeaded background it adds such a lovely texture to the background.
I really like this card today Sue, keep the Christmas card ideas coming I need lots of help!
Best wishes from Katie-Louise sweetlove
