Thinking Of You

Morning all!  I am going to leave you in Bloggers trusty hands for a few days while I take a little getaway and recharge my batteries so to speak.  I have scheduled posts for each day I am gone (so you won't even know I'm not here! LOL), but I won't be answering any emails until late Saturday.  I really love this card and I am hoping you will too, even if I won't know the answer to that for a few days!  White on white has to be my all time favourite combo, it just always looks so clean and fresh.  This would also make a lovely wedding, anniversary, christening or as is, just a simple thinking of you card!  I used the corner from the new set by Flower Soft called Butterflies and Flowers Enhanceabilities.  I used a small piece of wax paper between the card and the die (this is really a necessity with these dies too).  I did all four corners first.  You cannot emboss these dies when you are doing all four corners because the embossing will become flattened as you do the corners.  Next I used the largest die in the Decorative Labels 27 die set to emboss the pattern in the centre.  A little tip when doing this is to cut a piece of card (use white if you are doing a white card) and leave it in the die while you are embossing.  This will help aid in the embossing, but usually will not allow the die to cut through the card which so often happens when just embossing.  Occasionally you will get a wrinkle in your card when doing this technique though.  It is helpful to plan your layout so you can hide any wrinkles with ribbon.  If this becomes a constant issue, try not using the tan mat, but rather stack up a bunch of old card to use.  The rubber mat is what causes the wrinkling to occur because it catches the card as it is going through the machine.  I cut the next size down in that set out of coconut white card and layered it on my embossed pattern with mounting foam.  Finally I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Vintage Lace accent piece and mounted it in the centre to complete my focal element.  From the back of the card, I then used a pokey tool to push up all the areas in the corners as they are not cut completely out, just portions of the design are cut so that you can do this.  I added small flatback pearls to the centres of all the flowers.  I added a double bow out of white silky crush ribbon and topped it with one of the pearl button embellishments and two white pearl stick pins.  I pierced the edges as a nice frame for the piece to complete it.  Ah white on white, don't you just love it!  All for now, Sue x
