Happiest Things In Life

Hi crafty friends!  Today's card uses our new crinkly Kraft paper to make some fun flowers.  I actually started with the flowers on this one as I was really just wanting to see what I could do with this new kraft paper.  The instant I saw it, I thought of so many fun flowers that I could make with it so I had to just dig in and give it a go.  I used the same technique as I do with ribbon to make these.  I cut a strip of the paper and placed the sticky redline tape along the edge of it.  I then rolled and gathered to create the fullness in the flower.  Once it was finished, I edged them with black soot distress ink to give them some definition.  There is a close up below.  So I made three of them that I was quite happy with so I had to make a card for them to go on (you just can't waste them!)  I picked some Graphic 45 papers to go with them.  One of the papers was a butterfly pattern so I cut a strip of it.  I decided to pop the  wings up on the strip so I used a craft knife to cut around the edges of the wings.  I lifted them up then added some black twinkles to the edges (they are quite sparkly even if it doesn't show in the pic).l  I cut a decorative labels one in black for the back piece of my focal element.  It just peeks out from behind my Vintage Lace Motif.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a plain circle and popped it up on foam for dimension and very lightly inked the edges with black soot too.  I added my three flowers in the corner and a couple of black rhinestone swirls as accents top and bottom.  I pierced the edges to complete it.  All in all, I had a fun time playing with the new krinkly kraft paper and I hope you like the results!  All for now, Sue x

  12. GM Sue - I am going to be a tad controversial here I think! Whilst I do like the card I am not sure the dark colours create a mood that fits with the sentiment. When I think of happy this isn't the colour palette that I would pick - but then what do I know!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Morning Sue, Fantastic card today, I love the colours, the flowers are stupendous, I bought that krinkly paper, so I will be trying it out with flowers. At first I thought you had used one of the new dies (like the flower one, that comes with butterflies die too, but haven't seen the butterfly one), then I read that it was paper that had butterflies on that you had cut round to lift up, ingenious Sue. Absolutely beautiful.
Hope you are chilling out on holiday. Lots of love from Patricia xx

  43. Hi Sue!

You are into your blacks and browns aren't you? LOL! Where's the greens yellows, oranges and purples gone?

Please can we have a change? I don't feel blacks and browns are very summery and winter colours come around all too soon!:( Just my humble opinion! :(

It just seems that almost every other card is predominantly black.

Don't get me wrong I really love the card designs you are doing and that Kraft paper looks to die for!! I just miss the summery colours Sue! :(

  168. The happiest things in life are often the simplest and most meaningful experiences that we have. Whether it's spending time with loved ones, enjoying a beautiful sunset, or accomplishing a goal we've been working towards, these moments bring us a sense of joy and fulfillment that cannot be replicated by material possessions or external achievements.

It's important to remember that happiness is not a destination, but rather a journey that we can choose to embark on each day. By focusing on the things that bring us joy and taking time to appreciate the small moments, we can cultivate a more positive and fulfilling outlook on life.

  169. This card is absolutely beautiful! It's so amazing to see what you can accomplish with minimal supplies and your own unique vision. The flowers made with the krinkly kraft paper circle especially caught my eye- I love the texture and little details. It's always hugely inspiring to see how creative and talented crafters can be. Thanks for giving us a glimpse at your process!
