Good Sunday morning to all. I thought it was an appropriate day to show a card that I made several months ago but never posted at the time. It is all done with milk coloured card and Antique Linen distress ink for a bit of highlighting. Unfortunately we all need to make a sympathy card at one time or another. These gorgeous crosses work perfect for sympathy, Easter, communion or even wedding cards so they can be very versatile. I started with the background and embossed it with the Enchanted embossibility folder. This is a large card so I did have to extend the background a bit. Next I cut out the aperture using the largest size of Labels 24, but I didn't stop there. I needed the opening to be larger, so I lined up the edge points and cut another section, giving me a rather large opening. I inked the edges of it with Antique linen distress ink. I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner in black and embossed it. Foam pieces were placed on the back of my aperture piece to raise it for dimension. Next I cut all the crosses in the Crosses Two set, and cut two of the large ornate one. For the very ornate cross on the right, I cut away all the arms leaving just the ornate centre piece which I mounted atop the original cross. I mounted all five of the crosses in the aperture opening. I tied a bow of chalk white American seam binding and added two pearl stick pins and a Dazzler to it. I added a pearl swirl across the bottom of the card, flatback pearls to the cross centres and pierced the edges to finish it off.
It is Sunday so it is time for the Comment Game Winners to be drawn.

ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, This card is 'elegance personified'. Elements could be used for any occasion, but for a 'sympathy card' this is extremely beautiful. I love how you have extended the aperture, I had to read instructions twice before I could understand what you had done ha ha. I love everything about this card and the crosses are beautiful, that's another set for my list ha ha, I would get a lot of use out of these crosses, especially at Christmas for my friends at Church. Hope you got home OK, Sue, and without any other hitches. Lots of love from Patricia xx
