Ode To Nadine

Hi blog friends!  This is an older card that I have never posted because I couldn't find the pictures that I took of it.  I finally got the card out and took some new ones (I thought you might need a break from all the Christmas cards!)  This card is the result of seeing a card that blog follower Nadine sent me one day.  I have laced my borders with ribbon many times, but she sent me a card where she had done it going across the card diagonally.  I had never thought of doing that!  I thought I would have a go at it and see how it looked.  I rather like the way it adds a bit of fun to the card!  (I am not particularly happy with the way the photo makes the yellow ribbon look so bright, it was actually a perfect match to my background paper, but oh well!)  I started by making my own double sided paper.  One side grey and one side yellow by using our self adhesive sheets in between them.  I cut the Floral Burst Cut, Fold, Tuck die using this paper.  Once the pieces had been folded and tucked it showed off my dual coloured paper nicely.  I folded the centre down and glued it in place then put a small grey clay flower that I had in the middle as an accent.  Once I adhered it to the top right corner of my card, I used the silver Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to add dots to the openings left by folding the centre pieces.  I cut two of the Moroccan borders for the diagonal border across the card.  I used the yellow vintage ribbon (primrose) to lace them.  I stamped my sentiment then embossed it in silver.  I cut it out with the small Floral Oval set and mounted it on a grey oval die cut and then in the lower left hand corner of my card. I added some silver glue dots to the cut outs in the die.   I added some silver pearl swirls (from my stash) to the card as an accent and pierced just the top corner of the background paper.  I matted and layered with some yellow and grey card.  Using the silver PVA glue again, I added small dots around the edge to frame and finish my card.  Definitely a bit different than my usual style, but I rather like it for a change.  Thanks again to Nadine for her inspiration!  All for now, Sue x
