Think Snow

Hi everyone!  I know that is an awful title when we are so hoping for a bit of sun and a summer of sorts!  I think you may thank me, though, for pushing you to make your Christmas cards early this year.  You might even have a lovely stressfree December if you do!  Here's another one for your consideration.  I really like this card, it won't win any awards but there is just something about it that makes me smile.  I started by embossing my background with the polka dot mask, then extending it another inch and half to make it the size that I needed.  I then cut out all my tress with a nice green card.  I doubled up on the smallest one. There are actually two versions of this card shown in this post.  The original one that I made used the Flora embossibility on the trees (shown below), but it turns out that it wasn't on the show.  So when I demoed this card, I used the tiny mask to emboss the trees.  I thought you might like to see the different effects so I have included pics of both versions.  I can't quite decide which I like better, you be the judge.    I left the trees in the die then placed them all atop my itty bitty polka dot mask and embossed the pattern into them.  On the largest tree, I added some swag with the pearlie swirlies across it.  I mounted my trees using some foam mounting pieces.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with with the Vintage Lace accent die.  I inked it with Antique Linen distress ink while in the die.  I cut one more of the same shape and used it together with the first one for a really lacy effect (offset it slightly).  I added it to my background with foam mounting pieces and then added some pearl Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue dots around the centre.  It really sets it off nicely, doesn't it?   I tied a double bow with the cream silky crush ribbon and added it to the corner with a large round Dazzler in the centre.   Finished off  the card with my usual piercing and Bob's your uncle! (I love that saying! LOL)  All for now, Sue x

  144. I too didn't like the tree dies at first, but the more I see cards using it, it seems to grow on me. I like the second one best, take care, Alison :)

  145. I like the flora embossed trees best too, although both are nice. This card has grown on me since I first saw it on tv and I shall definitely try it - thanks for the recipe,

  146. Hi Sue! After being away to sunny/wet Towyn in Wales (it's been nice weather for the ducks....love it really!) for a few days I've at last caught up on the comments.....can't help myself! Just love looking at your creations as 1, they are stunning & 2, for the inspiration, especially as Christmas is on the horizon! I love both of these cards as the dotted one cries out a "fun" card & the swirly one cries out simple but classy! The embossing transforms the trees so much. Great cards Sue, it has been & is a joy looking at them all! Can't wait to see the one's you're saving for us till a later date....! Congratulations to the winners on Sunday! Enjoy your prizes! xx Love Karen xx
