Only One Like You

Morning all!  You are safe from Christmas card samples today!  This is a card that I made earlier in the year but never posted.  I think it needs some blogtime (it was feeling left out!)  Super simple card, but sometimes that is all you need. I stamped my sentiment first in the corner of the card.  Then I embossed the background with the embossibility folder called Enchanted using some of the taupe card from my neutral card pack.  I matched up the pattern and extended it a bit for this card.  I wanted a real vintage feel to the card, so I inked the edges with Antique Linen distress ink to tone down the taupe card.  I used a piece of pretty lace on the left hand side of the card.  I cut a swirl from the Heartfelt Creations Iris die set out of milk card.  I cut the swirl in half and used it coming out of the top and the bottom of my floral grouping.  For the flowers, I cut a spiral flower three out of eggplant coloured card and rolled it.  Then I cut a Bitty Blossom (the largest) out of milk card and rolled it.  Once rolled I inked the petal edges with Antique Linen distress ink.  For the final flower, I cut a length of Riveria Lilac Vintage ribbon (it photographed rather blue, but it is purple)  and made one of my ribbon flowers (there is a tutorial on the Creative Expressions website that I did for these flowers)  I glued them together in a grouping.  I love the way different style flowers look together.  Mixing different textures, elements and styles creates an interesting look on your cards I think.  You can see a close up of them below.
Like I said, pretty simple style card, but still pretty I think and very quick to make, especially if you are like me and have some flowers lying around that didn't get used for some reason.  They make a perfect starting point for a card when you are stuck for ideas!
On another quick note, I thought I would do both the blog candy drawing and the comment game drawings a bit earlier than expected.  That is because I am heading back to my Mom's and later to CHA in Chicago.  I leave on Tuesday so I thought I would do the drawing and announce the winners later today.  That way you can won't have to wait so long to receive your prize! Be sure to check back in the afternoon to see if you have won!   All for now, Sue x

  80. Stunning, but I always roll my eyes a bit (I'm sure I'm not the only one) when you mention how "simple" the card for the day is. Tee hee! In my dreams!!! This one may be simpler than some you've shown, and I'm sure it gets simpler with practice, but you are WAY ahead of me, girl. I just laugh and admire the card and try to figure out all you've done before I read the narrative. I hope you have fun coming back to the US and don't get sick this time. Both FL and Chicago are HOT and HUMID this time of year, so drink lots of water and find all the shady and air conditioned spots you can.
