Good Friends

Good Sunday morning!  They come around quick don't they?!  It seems like just yesterday I was drawing the winners for last weeks comment game!  This weeks winners will be at the bottom of the post, but now for a quick rundown of a really quick card.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner of a piece of milk card using a black archival ink pad.  I placed my Vintage Lace motif die in the opposite corner and embossed it in to the card (no cutting here).  While the die was still in place, I inked around the outside of it using Antique Linen distress ink to bring out the pattern.  I removed my die and replaced it with a piece of copy paper with a circle cut out of it, lining it up in the centre of my die.  I inked my stamp from the Design Element set using Black archival and stamped it in the circle.  I inked around it with Fired Brick distress ink and a tiny bit of black soot to give the image a shadowed look.  I added a flourish of pearls across the open area for interest.  I added foam mounting pieces to the back of this piece and mounted it to another piece of milk card that I had added Luna Silver mica flakes.  I used some leftover strips of the self adhesive sticky paper and added them to the very edge of my milk card, peeled off the backing paper and poured the mica flakes over it.  I really like these as they are not as blingey as glitter, but give you a gorgeous texture and sparkle.  This whole card took about fifteen minutes to complete, so it is definitely a quick one!
Now on to the winners!  The three names drawn for the week are:
Bluebell!!!
Sandra F.!!!
Salem!!!

We had an additional qualifying post from June 21st.  So the winners there are:
Snuffy Snoo (Sam)!!!
Iritchie!!!
Nikkib!!!

You know the drill!  You must email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize!  All for now! Sue x

  1. Hi Sue,
now that's a lovely quick card. Can be adapted for a mans card quite easily with a change the middle I think. Congrats to the winners. It's a very wet, windy, and drab day here, so I hope it's better where you are, or anyone else reading this. Have a great crafty Sunday everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  12. Well good morning Sue,
It was only 7hours ago that I managed to write on your post for yesterday and here I am again and I still haven't gotten to bed!! Ah well, I have been keeping myself occupied with nice crafty things though. I've been playing with your new dies again seeing what else I can come up with. They really are a lovely set of dies.
Boy have you seen the new stuff coming from Spellbinders. Awesome or what? I have been on their blog today to see the sneak peaks of the latest releases and I am blown away but the new repeatable dies; now we will be able to use one die to cut a whole A4 sheet into filigree work if we so desire. The new border 'cut and tuck' dies are cute too.
Ok, I'll shut up now 'cos you've probably seen them already. I just know I am definitely saving from right now because I can only hope that later this year you will bring them to us.
As to your card. Beautifully understated and yet full of bling and so stylish. Like this alot. It may be a quick card but it has the impression of a time consuming card and suitable for even the most decerning eye.
I hope you have a lovely day. It is sunny here so I am really happy. I really hate (and I don't like that word) but I do, HATE the rain, it really makes me ache. So today I am a happy chicky again.
    yea!!
    Take care. Hugs Linda xx

  70. Hi Sue,
I've tried embossingwith my dies instead of cutting them to great effect. Thanks for sharing the tip on one of the recent shows of using copy paper over your card when embossing with the the dies to prevent the die embossing too deep and cutting your card. I was having that problem and your solution works great.
I'm busy this weekend sorting out my craftroom and putting up new shelving for my craft stash. I can't wait to get finished and start crafting.

  146. Hi Sue,
The mica flakes look great. A nice reminder with this card that we can just emboss without cutting.
    Thanks,

  148. Hi Sue, gosh, that is a quick card! Love it! It's lovely. Its very cleverly done to look like a flower in itself with the die being a flower head & the swirl being it's stem. Love the sentiment too. Wow, just to do a production line of these for peoples birthday this year! You'd have time to do all your Christmas cards & then start on next years birthday cards too....... Congratulations to all the winners! xx Love Karen xx

  149. Firstly well done to all the winners this week!!! Hugs, Vick xxx

I adore this card Sue, the embossing with 'cutting' dies was taught to me by you a long time ago, via one of your shows, it didnt even occur to me to be able to emboss without cutting, WOW and i love the stark contrast between your card and the inside of the embossed die, its awesome!!! Love it, Huggles, Vick xxx

  152. Very pretty card. It may be a quick card for you, but it would probably take me longer than 15 minutes just to gather my materials to make a card like that. I really like the effect from the mica flakes on your card.
