Joy And Baubles

Morning my crafty friends!  Ah yes, back to Christmas today!  Only a short break, I did say.  I have used the new baubles that come as part of the Christmas Tree set.  They are lovely and scrolly and just plain bite sized!  I started by stamping my bold sentiment in Black Archival ink on milk card.  I used the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder by Couture Creations to emboss the detail into this piece.  I cut an aperture using a plain oval from my taupe card and then a slightly smaller oval from some black card.  I matter the two together to form  one aperture for my sentiment and baubles.  I cut both of the bauble dies from some deep red card and a tiny scrap of black card to use as a "hanger" piece for them.  I centred my sentiment so that it was to the right of the opening, leaving room for one of my baubles next to it.  I added foam mounting pieces to the back of the aperture piece to raise it for dimension.  I added the other bauble piece on to the top card and had it hanging down into the opening.  I cut a strip of black card and then cut one of the Holly accent borders in red to go atop it.  I taped that to the left of the opening and added a messy bow made from the red vintage ribbon.  I added two black pearl pins and a fancy button from my ever growing stash of buttons (yes, I am addicted!)  I cut one of the larger Holly corners for the upper right.  I matted all of this with a piece of milk card, then added my pierced mat in black to complete the card.  I really do like these non traditional colours for Christmas, are they getting you in the mood for making some seasonal cards?
Just a reminder that Sam Poole will be on C & C today at 9am and 3pm with her new Artful Ladies and Journaling Sentiment stamps.  Be sure to tune in and see her great demos and samples!  All for now, Sue x
