Mum

Hi bloggers!  As promised, here is a sample showing the Mom die made into a Mum card.  I started with a piece of dusty rose card (from my stash) and embossed it with one of our latest embossing folders called Heart Strings.  Using one of the edgers from the Chantilly Lace Edger set, I cut the borders into a piece of coconut white card and extended them both.  I glued them to the top and bottom edges of the embossed card.  I cut the Mom die out of white card and nipped away the top of the "O" to create the "U".  There are some small flowers in the set that you can add at the top so that the letters all stay the same height, but since I was mounting it diagonally, I decided to leave them as is for this card.  I cut a dusty rose backing piece for each of the letters and glued them together then added mounting foam to the back and mounted them diagonally across the card.  For a floral accent, I cut the Passion Flowers in white and added a backing piece that was cut with a sticky adhesive sheet attached to white card.  I put the two pieces together then sprinkled Frosted Sparkle Glitterbitz on the exposed adhesive.  I added small 3 mm white flatback pearls to the centres and seated the flowers in the corners.  I added some leaves as accents around them.  A simple white on white mat and layer completed the card.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  13. I had to go back and look at the launch photo for the Mom/Mum die to see the flowers that you said were included to make the snipped U as big as the two Ms. It looks like you have to fussy-cut the backing piece for the big letters, but maybe it doesn't have to be all that fussy.

When is Mother's Day in the U.K.?

It has been exciting seeing the cards people have posted on Facebook using the new dies. Mine just arrived Thursday. I choose well, but why oh why didn't I choose more?

My two favorites, so glad I got them, are Passion Flower and Sophia. Might use them and Crux for Valentines!

    Best,
    Donita

  14. Morning Sue. This was one of the many new dies (and folders) that made it to my 'need' list. I think it's so important to have the option you've given us - although Mam is used a lot up North but I've covered that option with your Art Deco alpha dies ☺ you have given us two really pretty samples now but the close up photography shows its beauty in detail, what a stunning die this is, and it's a die that I know will be loved and appreciated by those that buy at market, along with your Easter collection if I'm not lucky enough to be drawn out next week then they will have to be the first dies I invest in. The past few days have been so exciting, 4 true my beautiful posts per day every post as wonderful as the previous post, you certainly shine in the design world and I think the sell outs prove that. CONGRATULATIONS Sue on another amazing launch xxx

  50. You mentioned in your die launch how the O could be snipped to make a U and this shows it beautifully.

I like the design of this card and love the flowers but my iPad makes the card colour very muddy and dark and, as I don't have any Dusky Pink in my stash to visualise it, I think I would use a lighter or more vivid colour.

The flowers are the star of the show, just lovely.

Love the Mom die set too. If you were to being out a Dad die set in future, providing it wasn’t too masculine, the A could be used to make Mam for all the Northerners. It could be dressed up with the extra flowers from the Mom set to make it match with the M’s. Knowing you though Sue, you’ve probably already designed it!

Pretty card. The MOM/MUM die is such a good idea, though sadly I have no need for it now.
Those Passion Flowers are so beautiful.
Thanks for such a great blog launch, Sue.
    Take care everyone.

    Good morning Sue .
A beautiful card for Mothers Day Sue. My mum died over 40 years ago and your card today brought so many happy times to my mind.

I got an unexpected trip to the craft store in Preston yesterday. My Son had given me a voucher for Christmas so he and his Wife took me to spend it. I asked to be shown to the Sue Wilson aisle and OH MY! there were 3 aisles and I spent nearly 3 hours there (and lots of cash).I have been promised another trip in April for my Birthday.

Thank you so much Sue for all that you do for us.
    Marie P.

  112. The way you created the look for these Passion Flowers with glitter and pearls makes an elegant set of flowers. My favorite look for these flowers so far.
