Double Gemini Sunday

Good Sunday morning all!  Two cards today both using the Pictor Triple Gemini die.  For the first card, I started by embossing a piece of milk card with the Blossom Brocade embossing folder to give the background some texture.  Using one side of the Pictor die, I cut a piece of vintage silver card, using one cutting edge.  I laid my background on top where I wanted it then taped the die to the other side of the silver card so it would be lined up, removed the background, then cut the matching side.  Next I went back to the milk card and used the other decorative die of the Pictor and cut it into the edge of the card using the matching cutting edge.  I repeated the same process, but this time used my silver piece as a guide to where I needed to tape the die into place on the other side.  Removed the background and cut the other side of the card.  I taped all the pieces together, then used my scissors to nip away the extra bit of milk card so that it was even with the silver on the sides.  I cut the Bern die out of silver card, backed it with milk then cut the centre out to create a frame.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it.  I stamped my sentiment (from a Phill Martin stamp set) and seated the frame over it.  I cut one more Bern die out of milk card, nipped it in half, then added it to the edges of the silver focal element before attaching it to the centre of the card.  I pierced a milk mat, added a thin silver mat and a final milk mat.  I cut a strip of cream double pearls down the centre and added a row to the top and bottom edges to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card no. 2

For card number two, I decided on a rather unusual colour combo of purple, gold and milk.  I cut one side of the Pictor die in milk card twice and backed it in purple card.  Next I cut a piece of vintage gold card on the top and bottom edges with the other die in the Pictor set.  I taped the purple side pieces in place so they were peeking out from underneath the gold piece.  I cut the Zurich die in milk card and added it to the centre of the gold piece.  I stamped my sentiment using a Purple Violet Archival ink pad and created a small frame around it using the inside die from the Zurich die set.  I added a purple backing to it, then cut the centre out to create the frame.  I seated it over my sentiment and then added it to the centre of the card.  I added cream flatback pearls as accents and finished the card with milk, gold and purple mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.

  11. Good morning Sue and crafters all,
Happy Sunday!! Thank you for two beautiful cards although using the same edger dies they look so different and the purple and gold colourway looks fit for a queen, very Royal looking. Cannot choose between them today.
    Congratulations to this weeks winners.
Pam, Peter has requested home made steak and potatoe pie for tea filled by apple pie!!! Looks like I have a lot of standing today. Meat has had two hours cooking on a low heat in the oven, 4 more to go before it is in the pie. And also he went into his shed last night to potter on his lathe - 1st in over 6 months.
June hope you continue to improve, soon be running around.
Love and crafty hugs to all.

  12. Sunday Smiles to you Sue and to our comment winners above, well done ladies enjoy creating with your gift.
I love how Phills sentiment stamp ties in with the overall elegance of the first card, the question is a kind of chicken v egg - what came first die collection or stamp collection cuz they are made for each other. I just love how the 'boys' dies and stamps all fit in or within or are sketched to go with the die collections you design, I know it's not all done 'by accident' but the way you all work together bring us SO many choices and options, too many sometimes that it's hard to know what choices to make, but you all help us make something beautiful eventually lol even I have made the odd card that I've liked that much it's been hard to give it up for my market baskets ! Well, all of my New Additions animals, stork, shadow box toys, onesie etc are still where I left them Thursday evening, I'm sitting quietly alone while my two go scare the pants and tail off each other down at the dark eerie country park, and the 5 market baskets are still in the craft wardrobe and that's where they are staying, I've had to give in, and how angry am I at my weakness and not fighting over how I feel and just battle through ! Maybe if money and greed was my priority I'd have fought, but give me health over money ANY day and I'd feel I'd won a million, so it's a day in the warm and yet again, wave another month goodbye before I get close to buying my circle Peirced Noble dies. Will I ever get to make those beautiful circle frames that you do so lovely Sue, maybe next year lol. So today I will catch up on the shows I recorded of Mr Lockwood when he was showing your festive collection, and hope that soon I will be behind my table next week making something worthwhile to add to next months baskets and work on that order book... it's ONLY October after all.... yikes, next month they will be festive baskets, now I REALLY DO feel ill lol.
Have a good day, and take this hug if you dare and use it when and if necessary xxx

  73. Hi Sue, this just shows how colours can change the look of a card. I must admit I thought the first card was grey & cream & my first thought was an ideal card for a man - not a flower in sight! I now see it is silver but still a lovely card. I don't very often use purple on cards as I was put off purple when I had to wear it every day as my school uniform! So card number one wins hands down! Lol!

Imagine my surprise when I discovered I was one of your lucky comment winners, thank you Sue!

  74. Good afternoon Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Thank you for two different but lovely cards. Number one at first glance looked like it had been pave' set with your pearl drops until i had another look at it(the eyes are definitely needing to benefit from a pair of glasses at times). Apart from the EF i actually have the beautiful dies that could recreate these but i will resist and use them in a different way but it does give more ideas. I wish the camera would show the beauty of the soft metallic card that you have used in both cards, because the soft sheen metallic card is so pretty and adds just that touch to make them sparkle and especially at this time of the year. Sorry i haven't been around Sue but i have been so tired since coming back from Carlisle from seeing my lovely friends but i will do it all again because being in their company is the best tonic anyone can get. I had a wonderful time with the ladies, they are so much fun, even the quiet one of the group who couldn't stay with us but came up each day we were down there to see us. It was lovely seeing the smiles and laughter that makes it seem we have known each other for decades instead of just a year since we met. I think the Ibis will be saying "No, sorry we are full up" when they hear about us meeting up again, lol. I'm not sure how the lassies recognised us but somehow they remembered us from APril, i wonder why?
Well we have a nice day here at the Ochils today and if the rain stays away it will be perfect. Harry my little grandson has started to walk by himself now and there is no telling what he will get up to now. When he gets fed up of falling he decides to take the easy way out and crawl at top speed. My daughter sent me a video showing me his exploits when i was away with the girls and he brought a smile to everyone's face. She doesn't know what she has started with wanting him up and about because if she thought she got tired before hand, she sure will now trying to see what he is up to. This christmas he will be a wee bit more fun i think but it will be next year i think before he understands and the magic begins. The picture on wee ones faces at Christmas time is wonderful and brings back the fun and memories of Christmas pasts.
Well i will just finish by wishing all of this weeks winners a very well done and enjoy when your winnings arrive. Sending hugs to all my wilsonettes friends that need, could do with or just want one, they are for the taking.
    Love and crafty hugs

  84. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Two beautiful cards showcasing the Pictor die to its best, very difficult to pick a favourite under the circumstances but i think the first card has qualities that particularly appeal to me....in saying that, the colour palette of the second card is stunning. Yesterdays card was equally impressive, i cant get enough of pixie powder techniques they're results are outstanding. Thanks for another glimpse into the genius that is your crafting brain.
I've been very lax in my commenting lately, i can only apologise and promise to buck my ideas up sharpish:-) Plenty has been happening, my scooter is now fixed thankfully, it sports a new tyre and new lease of life. I wish the same could be said for my mum though, she had her return appointment to aspirate her cyst on the groin/hip and it didn't have the desired outcome. They tried but the fluid had jellified and wouldn't drain so she had to return home with the thought that it is probably something else causing all the pain and they wont remove the cyst after all::-(
Spent a while this afternoon making a small start on my Christmas cards by whipping out the texture paste and some masks...it has to be said it has been quite awhile since i used them and getting into the pots was a struggle but i got there in the end and the results were worth the effort. I love texture paste, i have no idea as to how im going to incorporate them into a design but never mind, that's not the point really, its the satisfaction of doing it that counts.
Elaine, hope Andrew is okay and his trip to hospital is just routine.
Tina, your cooking sounds amazing, Peter is a lucky man!
Norah, lovely to have you back, glad you enjoyed your trip despite it tiring you out.
Frances, so glad hubby is improving steadily
    Lorraine, congrats on your win.
Deb C, what a lovely story about your FIL, love can really happen where you least expect it.
Yvonne, hope you're feeling better today, i cant very well slag you off when your under the weather unfortunately though:-(
Big hugs to all my besties, hope you are all well.
Maria, glad the injections have done the trick, take care.

    Love and crafty hugs
