Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi bloggers!  Today's card giveaway is a vellum covered baby blue number.  I started by cutting the Swiss Background out of coconut white card.  I used Duck Egg blue card and backed it.  Using my paper cutter, I cut the background into three equal  strips and added mounting foam to the back of them.  I attached them to another piece of coconut white card for the basis of my background.  I wanted to soften it a bit so I glued a piece of vellum across the entire piece and added white pearls to the corners.  For the focal element, I cut the Bern die in white and backed it in white for a tonal effect.  I cut the centre out of it creating a frame and added mounting foam to the back.  I embossed a small piece of white card with the Dotted Matrix Pinpoint embossing folder and attached the frame to it.  I stamped a sentient and cut it out with the rectangle centre from the centre of the Bern die set.  I inked it lightly with Tumbled Glass ink and attached it in the centre of the frame with foam.  I cut several of the Exquisite Poppies out of vellum and used the Tumbled Glass Distress marker to add veins through the die.  I seated the larger flower on a white satin bow in the lower corner and the smaller flower opposite to it.  I accented both with Olive Branch sprays cut out of white card.  The card was completed with white and duck egg mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  Leave a comment if you like this one and would like to be included in the drawing to win it!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh wow such a glorious card giveaway today, I must have a try at this one, love the colours but the sentiment says what you are Sue----Wonderful. To the lucky winner, enjoy.

Pre-op assessment went well yesterday, my blood pressure was up a bit (only to be expected I thought) but the anesthetist checked the ECG and said I must not take my blood pressure tablet on the morning of the surgery, they will probably do the epidural and sedation method, I said as long as I don’t know anything about it that is fine with me. Surgery is booked for 13th October, only another 15 days but who is counting………………..thanks for all your well wishes yesterday.

Pam – hope you are enjoying your holiday and the weather is kind for you.

Deb Curtis – it must be hard clearing out your father-in-laws flat, I do hope that you and the social services find a suitable care home for him soon, 11 weeks in hospital and counting, it is such a strain on you all and he needs to be settled, hugs.

Theresa W – new hair-do,you will look like a star on your holidays, have a wonderful time.

Tracy I too would like to see a video on the gilding polish, when I tried it I seemed to get all the polish on the background as well as the raised embossed area, I think I must have sausage fingers, there must be an easier way.

Yvonne – Princess Pixie, you so make me laugh with your wonderful comments, I hope when you and Laine spent a happy time on the phone catching up with everything from the past week, would love to be a fly on the wall.

Laine – hope the sinus infection clears up soon, and I could not see any sagging jowls when you made your appearance on the TV at Ally Pally.

‘P’ in Wales – I am sure the flying black cat will be bringing you lots of good luck, when he has finished could you send him my way so I can have some.

Norah – the fortnight will come round before you know it and you can see your very special cherubs again. Nice to see that the ‘Master Tiler’ is having a day off as well, and hope that the 3ply came in, I am sure you are itching to start using it.

Elaine, my windows 10 update went really well yesterday, took about an hour but it gave me a chance to do other things, I can’t see much of a difference but it has got rid of a couple of gremlins that were in there. Hope Andrew is OK

Stephanie – oh you did have a bad day with your dog and the fox doo doo – we can always tell if a fox has left us a gift in our garden by the smell – goodness know what they eat to produce such a mess, but you now have a lovely sweet smelling dog ready to meet the dog sitter prior to you visit to Lottie’s first birthday, enjoy.

Tina T – good to hear that Peter is eating a lot better, hope the Nurse was pleased when she came to change the dressing.

Early start for me today as it is my craft club today and this is a special one as it is devoted to the McMillan Coffee Morning fund raising, we will have raffles and oh some wonderful home made cakes, some of you might have seen the pictures on facebook, looking forward to this.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Good morning Sue. What a lovely sentiment to start the day and it comes right back to you girl 😊 I can't think of a sweeter way to start my day, this truely is a beautiful delicate card, I hope you have several more of these samples, I'd be broken hearted to pack this up and wave it goodbye if it was my only sample of its kind lol. That's why your so wonderful, well one of many reasons, you can allow us the chance to own your beautiful babies, and this baby should be framed and admired always.
No Sue day AGAIN Grrr ! Was hoping Cassie would start the process of meeting her baby sitter but it wasn't to be, I couldn't settle while waiting for her call and was in tender hooks, you know what it's like, no matter how others decide to live I always have to have a clean and tidy home for people to visit. What does the mutt do as soon as she's back from her damp afternoon walk - rubs herself down the length of the sofa after I'd struggled to push it round when they were out !!! OMG dog hair everywhere again !!!!! I tell you, this dog is going to be shaven down to her skin lol so back to square one today and hopefully will see this lady today ! The most ironic thing is that we found out, she lives about a dozen doors away from our bungalow ! Small world or what ? Anyway that was my day, hope yours went a whole lot better and we start all over today.
At least I have my usual hugs for you and a little sense of humour after the past two daft days lol. Enjoy your day Sue and thank you for this most gorgeous card today xxx

What a beautiful card. It's so elegantly done with just a hint of colour, making it look so majestic. I really love it, and I confess to you now that I will be trying to emulate this card myself. I hope you don't mind. But only for private use of course. I don't have a business, so I won't be replicating it for profit. That I wouldn't do. 😊
I hope you are well this morning and I look forward to your next creation.
Best wishes to you Sue.

Really pretty card for the giveaway, Sue, like the three parts going down the card instead of vertically and glad to see the poppies still making an appearance! Have to make a card for my aunt's 104th birthday next week and think poppies will loom large, with perhaps a butterfly or two - whatever, it has to be tactile as she can no longer see much detail, sadly. It's so odd to think that she was born before WW1.
No, not on anything (imagine dreams if I were ha ha) June you can have all my luck as don't need any currently - not long for the op so TRY not to worry.
Frances - already have black cats, no more needed!!
Tracy, PP has a contender for the title now you've broken the powders out - practice, as they say....
Sending hugs to all.

Good morning Sue
What a stunning card one that I would be reluctant to give away lol! I love anything that uses vellum fir me it gives your project an elegant look. Years ago I used to do Pergamano and spend hours on each piece but now with die cutting its so much easier to get a similar look for a fraction of the time. I received my poppy dies yesterday and they deserve the name exquisite because they certainly are. Do you know Sue it's only when you receive your dies and embossing folders you realise how much detail is in each one, awesome designing!

Good morning Sue and the happy band of Wilsonettes,
This is a beautiful card Sue and so light and airy feeling with the velum on top of the Swiss background. The Swiss set is rapidly turning in to one of my favourite go to sets as it reminds me of little crowns going around the outside of it. The baby blue card is such a beautiful shade of blue and adds that lovely hint of to the card. Thank you flower for such a lovely start to the day as it does make a dull day into one with a piece of sunshine appearing to try and brighten even the worst of days. Have a lovely day Sue and get that inspiration flowing steadily onto paper/card.
I am hoping that the brighter sky that i have at the front of the house travels to the back and brings some lovely weather with it. O.H. did go to it with the tiling yesterday but it took him all afternoon and into early night to put up 4 tiles. Something tells me my sanity would have been better paying for a tiler to do the job and it would have been finished properly without as much wastage. Rory dropped at college for his first long day of the week so at least i don't have "Mum" getting shouted on to make some thing to eat. Why do they always ask if you are making something to eat when they can quite plainly see that you are not, that you are doing something else.
June flower i'm glad that you were good for your pre op even if you let your blood pressure rise at the sight of white coats, lol. Your operation won't be that long away and hopefully after the initial wee grip, that the pain that you are in will be gone and you can start living your life to the full again. I tried that gilding wax and just ended up with a mess all over the embossed card. It doesn't seem to matter how light the touch, it still ends up in places that you don't want it to go on. I think i will stick to putting my fake pearls drops on instead as i don't get into nearly as much of a mess.
Sending hugs to all my Wilsonettes that need, could do with or just want someone to give them one,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil Village)

I'm off to the vet today with the little whirlwind that is my new kitten. He's due for his second shot as he's now 12 weeks old. I swear that he's getting more fluffy every day. Yesterday he and the dog had a crazy five minutes chasing each other around the lounge-room until I called a halt to it. He's 'adopted' the dog as his mum and to my surprise, she's very tollerant of him and they sleep cuddled up together at night.
Happy Wednesday, everyone.

Well ladies good news is I'm all clear!! Not so good that I'm still suffering side effects even tho it's been 6 months since treatment finished. He says it could still continue for another 6/12 months but hey ho I'll just suck it up and get on with it even tho my body feels about 80yrs old lol.
Also said it be best to wait another 12 months as well before starting ivf treatment just in case it does come back. As its rates higher in the first two years. So 1 year down another to go.
So happy days all round.

Hi Sue,
Another lovely card!!!
This egg shell blue is so pretty.
The vellum gives it a different look.
I love all the new dies. So lovely.
I wish we could get Creative Expressions paper here in the US.
Thank you for all your wonderful cards and ideas.
They have taken my card making to a whole new level.

So much that I like about this card. Especially like the use of vellum which does indeed soften the effect. Each time I see the olive branch die I like it more and more. Thanks.

Hello Sue
A really beautiful card today.
My earlier post seems to have disappeared so this is going to be short!
I love the soft effect created by overlaying the duck egg blue with vellum, just so pretty.
The lucky winner will be so pleased to be the new owner of this lovely masterpiece!

Beautiful, beautiful card today. It is gorgeous!!!
Tracy, what wonderful news, I am so pleased for you. Onward and upward.
June Smith, great that pre-assessment hasn't thrown anything up. I'll be thinking of you on the 13th, I'll be with Myra and the others then so we can have a group "thinkalong get better" for you. As Myra says, we are the two quiet ones in the group ha ha.
Pam, glad you are enjoying your holiday - did you get to the IOW?
I'm thinking of Tina and Peter, Elaine and Andrew and Tina and Mick,
love to all

Good evening lovely sue and her crafty crew!

You never disappoint with the weekly giveaway Sue, it's always one of your most outstanding creations that you choose to part with and this week is no exception. You've really pulled out all the stops, this card is stunningly ornate....I can't express just how much I love the use of vellum in this way on a card, it really softens the background and adds a touch of class and elegance to proceedings. The soft duck egg blue card is lovely in this design and boy am I glad I invested in the Swiss collection.....I had previously thought that because I have nearly all of your previous country collections that I would now concentrate on the other dies in your releases, stupid me because I am always seduced by them, you seem to offer something different and unique with each of them that makes them a must have for my die collection.
Any one of your loyal followers would be pleased as punch to receive this beauty, it would look wonderful framed.....in my craft room:-)
I've had a manically busy day today and simply haven't had the time to read through everyone's comments I'm afraid, I do hope that I haven't missed anything important. Spoke to Yvonne last night.....I refuse to use her self imposed title until she recognises my own Royal status and birthright:-), curtsying when I speak with her is simply out of the question no matter how much she begs me to or issues veiled threats to my personal safety! I may be mistaken, but I got the distinct impression that my departure has hit her harder than she will readily admit, having someone that you can look up to and admire and attempt to emulate has been a critical part of our relationship so I think she feels at a loss without me:-) Don't get me wrong, she has her uses too, she is an adequate cook and catered to my sweet tooth during my visit but I feel that my class, sophistication and talents gave her something to aspire too.....though tragically never achieve:-)
Only joking honey, well, only slightly so:-) Enjoy your night with the girls, I'll be thinking of you as I watch Bake Off on my tod......I attempted to make your scabby roast potatoes earlier using goose fat instead of oil, I think I overdid them slightly because my Mum just looked at me as if to say "no chance", she didn't have her false teeth in so the crispy bits were too much of a challenge for her:-) Nevermind, more for me but I will be more sensitive to her needs next time.
Tracy, hope your news was good. I'm very impressed with your attempts at tackling the pixie powders, I am a recent convert having bought 13 of the range. I chuckled at your squeezing technique, I was taught by Yvonne and learned from her mistakes, tapping gently is the way to go with light spritzs of water built up gradually, but it is so much fun playing and the results are fantastic, I'll be using it on my uncles birthday card this week.
Deb C, of course you're a bestie, remember that you are head of security due to your extensive military experience and thus an important and integral part of the blog! How awful for your FIL, eleven weeks in hospital is no joke, I hope that they find him a place in a suitable home soon for all your sakes. Sending hugsxxxx
Wheely, hope that you are okay, worried by your absence. Take carexxx
Norah, Myra, Maureen and friends, your get together sounds awesome but where's my invite?:-) Hope you have fun, though it would be even better if I was there....just ask Yvonne and her boys:-)
Well this was going to be a short comment because I'm shattered and planned to watch Bake Off:-) I've now not only missed my programme but also overstayed my welcome on the blog so I will wish you all a good night and sweet dreams.
Hugs to all my blog besties and anyone in need of a good cuddlexxx

Hi Sue and lovely ladies
beautiful card today with a muted soft look. Love the vellum overlay and poppies accented with blue. Sooo pretty.
June, thank you for your lovely comment. You're counting days too, glad your pre-op went well and I pray that your op will go well and that you recover quickly.
Laine, hope you're not too down in the dumps, I've had many a sinus infection over the years and they are horrid, you have my utmost empathy. Rest up and get yourself well.
Yvonne, I'm in total agreement with you about Hochanda. Gone off Freeview till Oct and I can't even record to watch back when it's there. I went online to watch Hochanda catch up for Sue's last weekend shows, there was only one show there. Missed so many demos :-( Conspiracy! That's what it is! I'll have to see what I can see on youtube.
Wishing everyone a great rest of the week, sending hugs
Love & blessings

Evening Sue
Well this is my second attempt at a comment. I commented earlier this evening and it was my usual lengthy, detailed type spiel. Then I lost internet connection and consequently my comment disappeared into the great abyss x
So I will say that I absolutely love this card Sue. I have never met a Sue card that I don't like. Once in a while though you treat us to a gift that blows me away. This is one of those cards. Love it. My previous (lost) comment went into an awful lot of detail about how wonderful everything about this card is so please forgive my being brief x
I will see you all tomorrow with a comment that is up to scratch but for now I am closing and heading for bed x
Take care
Crafty hugs

So pretty, I think you know my experience of "covering" a background with vellum. I don't think I'll be making that mistake again But when it works the effect is beautiful
