Gradient Glitter Technique
Hi bloggers! Today's video is of an acetate folded card and shows how to create a gradient of colour using polished silk glitters.
The finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x 6" in size. All for now, Sue x
Beautiful card. Bejay, sorry I missed your birthday yesterday, chin up girl, you still have that flower surprise to look forward too and it will be beautiful. Daily hugs to all, especially Melody, Molly (would love to hear how things are with you), Tina and family, Theresa and family and all who just need comfort
Help Sue and all loving the graduated colors, this card looks so classy in the silver and white. I am waiting for this striplet at the moment, so versatile. I hope you all have a safe and blessed easter hugs Muriel x
Morning Sue. Thank you a beautiful card and, a great video. Sue that is such a clever idea and you have glitters left to do a smile card. Take care Kitty.
Great card, Sue, love your tailored ombre look with the glitter - so inventive! Have some old glitters and am planning a rainbow!! Very different for you, also with the acetate front panel. Brill video as always - thank you. Bejay, hope your sister's card arrives even if it is late - keep us posted on the flower. Laine - your Brodie, such a funny naughty boy. My lovely Miss Pushy (she of mwow mwow pick me up and mwow mwow cuddle me) just diagnosed with kidney failure at only 7 - devastated, such a wonderful little pushy cat, never knowingly ignored. (Yes, I do have lots of cats, love all animals and for the first time ever no dog as Mr 'P' has an overbalancing condition, he's worried if something happens to moi he can't walk it.) Hard times again. Hope everyone has a good Easter with calorie-free chocs. Ha.
Hi Sue. Stunning card, love the graduated glitter look but will save the video until I can really enjoy it this evening. Just over a week until you're back on our screens and even better we break up for the Easter holidays today so I'll be able to watch your shows as they happen. Belated birthday wished Bejay, sorry I missed the actual day, hope that your Amarylis blooms soon. Hugs to all. Sue XXX
Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, I like the look of this card, will be watching the video in a minute, I love glitter and bling so this one is going to be right up my street, and the card is not too big either which is lovely.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx
Good morning Sue today's card is gorgeous I love the design and the glitter is beautiful. I will be watching the video later when I get back from work. It is the last day before the Easter break. Take care. Hugs Jackie
Good Morning Sue Enjoyed watching Julia, and John, the new Wax looks pretty! This a different card for you Sue, I will watch video with interest! Take care love Marg
Good morning Sue and crafters all, This is a stunning card and the ombré effect is brilliant . Made this for my brothers birthday and he was amazed at using three glitters could give this the WOW factor. Love this striplet die.
Hi Sue, this card is fabulous, love the idea of the glitter, more items to add to my wish list, and it looks brilliant with the acetate cover. Have a great day. Bx
Good morning Sue. A beautiful card using a wonderful unisex striplet die that's on my wishlist. My problem is prioritising which die I want first!! Thanks for another great video tutorial.x
Good morning Sue I love the ombré effect it's beautiful, thank you for the video showing us how easy it is to achieve. Another fabulous idea for using your striplet dies. Hugs x Heather T
I also love that particular striplet and how you've created the design
A good card to make and store using other glitter colours and have readily available, with or without the sentiment, for that last minute card, then it will only need for you to add the appropriate sentiment
Love this striplet, it's so versatile and cuts beautifully every time I use it...thanks for the tip re mixing the glitters before sprinkling to achieve that graded effect...
Morning Sue, great card, love the effect with the glitter, trouble is I get more glitter on the cat and myself. Even when you think you have got it all off, my daughter will say been making a card today Mum, you have got glitter in your hair. This would be a really good man card,
Hi sue. Ooooooh what a fabulous card this morning. I do love the look of that striplet. I'll have to get that one too of course. Will catch the video later xx Lorraine East - radiotherapy is everyday excluding the weekends so it's about 4 weeks of treatment. And I have to travel 40 mins to Glasgow for it. I'm only in the machine for about 10 mins but seems like longer tho Will be quicker going than chemo as that was every 3 weeks.
Great video and great card Sue. Must admit never thought of doing this with my glitters but now you have set me thinking. Thanks for sharing, have a great day, hugs xxxxx
Morning Sue, very different from your usual cards, but looks amazing. Will watch video later, off to cover my friends craft shop today, Take care everyone, Jess xx
Well, well, another very interesting technique and very effective. Gorgeous card. Like the idea from P from Wales about perhaps a rainbow technique with various glitters. Might just have to take some pots and card with me up to our Welsh caravan to try it although I suspect my brother won't be too impressed with glitter all over the carpet. LOL

I think you know by now that the sentiments are a favourite of mine. This particular one is enhanced by the black shadow and stands out beautifully. Circles are also something I have used more this year - there are a few around. I will be looking for this striplet die. There is a way around most things; I will remember your tip on graduating glitter when using sticky sheets. Thank you.
Great card technique. BTW, there's a Scotch brand double sided vellum tape that works pretty well with acetate, too. The trick to it becoming invisible is to burnish it onto the surface really well. Not sure I'm making it clear.
Love the card today...another good one for the guys and I can imagine using other colors...thanks so much.
What an unusual card! Plus it's a smaller card, most of my cards have to be posted and bigger cards tend to get folded in the post so I like smaller cards. I make the most of the few cards I hand deliver though! Looks like I will have to do some shopping if I want to make this card, that will please the bank manager, sigh! Hugs to all in need today, Paula x (WelshPaula)
Hi sue and lovely wilsonettes x What a gorgeous card sue x another great technique and suitable for those awkward ones ( men ! ) x will watch the video later as just finished work and off to make some cards x it still surprises me how therapautic crafting is. Hi, Sue, Hi Everyone, Now this looks like a VERY interesting card. I'm going to watch the video as soon as I've posted this. Once again, thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday (and today). The day did get better as it wore on. I got a really pretty card from my sister-in-law...the original and best one, not the awful woman the man who used to be my brother is with now lol. My sister called me and we chatted for about an hour so that made up for the card not arriving. It got her today though and what a cheeky card it was lol. She popped it into the letterbox in the village she now lives in on Sunday, second class, and expected it to get to me on time. She used to live in Newquay and I'm in Truro, so she was about ten miles away and posting it so close to the day would work then but in November they moved across to a village just outside Spalding and I told her she's got to remember that it's got further to travel now lol. As for the Amaryllis...the two flower buds that are thinking of opening look like a pair of bunny ears today and the buds don't look quite as tight, so I think it may be a 'go' for Easter. The suspense is killing isn't it lol...watch this space, ladies :) Bejay xx
I love this card and the striplet die. This die just sings to me but has been the cause of some frustration lol when I have the money to buy it I find it keeps being out of stock and when I don't have the money it is back in stock. I will get my hands on it one day. Today is the first day of hubby's reduncancy so having to really watch what we spend.
Your glitter ombre technique is fasinating. Interesting use of the acetate, too. Thanks for the video which will be very useful in trying the ombre effect.
Hi Sue, who doesn't like a bit (or lots lol) of glitter? I certainly do and I love this card with its clever shading. I don't have this striplet - one of the few I don't have - but will try this with one of my others.
'P' in Wales - so sorry for Miss Pushy, is there anything the vets can do to help? Alison - how did Scamp get on today, is she free? Bejay - glad your day improved.
Love this technique Sue, I can't wait until I have sold the house so I can get my glitters out again (I have no idea where they all are at the moment) and have a play. Interestingly, this card looks so dramatic as it looks as though the photos have been taken in black and white!
Hi Sue. Wow, love this card and the graduated colours. I have this Striplet die. So all prepared to have a go tomorrow. Hope you are well. Hugs. Jan.xx
Hi Sue what a beautiful card I would never have thought of mixing glitter to make different shades it's such a lovely effect thank you for sharing this technique with us
Hi Sue what a beautiful card I would never have thought of mixing glitter to make different shades it's such a lovely effect thank you for sharing this technique with us
Hi Sue Yet another different card today, the shading of the glitter is interesting, I'm sure I've seen you or John demonstrate this on to. It's really effective. Thank you for sharing. Love Diane G xxx
HI SUE VERY CLEVER BLENDING WITH THE GLITTER. I WOULD PUT IT BACK IN THE WRONG CONTAINER. LOL. FUN CARD. LOVE THE VIDEO. BOEN AGAIN SPELLBINDER NADINE HUG XXX
There's not much I don't love about this circular striplet, it's delightfully retro with a modern twist and wonderful for male orientated cards. I really appreciate all the fabulous hints and tips you provide in your videos, we can benefit by your mistakes....as if there are any:-), just happy accidents!....and attempt to emulate your magnificence. The polished glitters are awesome, I have some in my stash but they remain unopened because I was at a loss as to what to do with them, now I know:-) I love the ombré effect and it is particularly nice with the added sparkle. Minimal dies for maximum effect! Thanks for a fab tutorial. It's been one of those days when the mountain of housework calls so loudly they can hear it in the neighbouring street:-) The dirty washing will walk to the washing machine unaided, there are clumps of cat fur travelling across the wooden floor like tumbleweed and my duvet is covered in so much of Darceys cat fur that it's in danger of looking like a fur throw! What to do? Decided to tackle the ironing as a matter of urgency lest I develop a fur ball when I am in bed at night by inhaling the cat fur:-) it's so nice getting into a clean, crisp bed....I love my little princess sleeping with me but moulting season is a pain, it doesn't matter how much I brush her it comes off her by the handful:-( I did manage to fit in a little remedial colouring afterwards, thought I'd better start with practicing the basic techniques before I attempt anything ambitious again...I tried to colour the skin of a stamped portrait that I had spent ages colouring the hair on only to completely muck it up with my poor blending skills, I felt useless and rubbish so back to the drawing board...no pun intended:-) P, I'm so sorry to hear about Miss Pushy, she sounds adorable and being so young it must have come as a terrible shock for you. What caused it and is there anything they can do for her? I sincerely hope so, I'll keep my fingers crossedxxxx Alison, how did Scamp get on today? Has she been given her freedom again or will the cage stay for a little while longer? She has been so patient and good so she deserves to have the run of the house again, I just hope that she is more careful from now on otherwise it will be you that's having kittens:-) Theresa, it gladdens my heart that I can help you smile even if it is at my dubious sense of humour:-) You have been through such a lot lately and I find that laughter, though hard at times, can be a great tonic that helps us cope with adversity. Sending you special hugsxxxx I'm getting very excited about Sues upcoming release and tv shows, in fact I think I'll need double strength Tena Lady for the occasion such is my euphoria and lack of self control:-) I keep checking Icon to see if they are advertising the new launch but no sign as yet, the suspense is killing me. I have a feeling that we may see some pierced noble circles and ovals because Sue is so good at listening to the wants and needs of her adoring followers, but I'm sure that whatever she creates will be a massive hit and absolute essential on my lengthy list of must haves. Hugs to Beth, Yvonne, Rebecca, Jan, Lorraine, Wheely bad, Linda, Pam, Melody, Maria and anyone who needs a comforting cuddlexxx
Your Striplet dies always work brilliantly and this one is no exception, it's very different to earlier ones and works so well with your new statement dies. Love it!
Hi Sue & lovely Wilsonettes*** writing from my iPad today & my day has been very hectic indeed so please excuse me if I forget to mention anyone who is going through a difficult or unwell time. Sincerely hope that SCAMP is ok & tasting freedom from crate. 'P' IN WALES*** I really feel for you with regards to Miss Pushy's kidney failure, it makes it so difficult to do what's best for our animals when they are poorly, because they can't tell us how they feel or what they need, we have to guess, love 'n' (((hugs))) for your lovely four paws & family x x x
Sue, I absolutely adore your glitter gradient technique, can't wait to try this myself, it goes perfect with the circles die, I was lucky enough to purchase this a while ago as it was always sold out. Thank you for your amazing card & for your video Sue, I appreciate your generosity in sharing with us. X x x
Must away now my friends as rather tired today, pray you all sleep well tonight & I will see you all tomorrow. Love to all & (((hugs))) to you Sue, family & anyone else in need of one. Take care Love Beth b x x x x x
I have to be honest, when I first saw this striplet die, I really didn't like it (that's a first!). It is absolutely beautiful used in this card! I am shocked that it is so pretty. I guess that is why you are such a beautiful designer..you can envision it. Thanks Sue for showing an easy card! Have a great day!
I love it I love it I love it!!! Circle striplet is a stunner and ombre glitter is fabulous. A nice one for a man an with colour changes could be for anyone... How about graduating sports team colours for the Footy fan/ rugby fan or for my best friend I'd do the colours her hockey team plays in. Hey, just think I've sorted most of my cards for the next year lol! I'm looking forward to next weekend when you'll be on TV, big hugs to you Sue from Billy and I xxx
Biggest hugs and love to Tina and family. Billy sends you a big doggy cuddle xxx
Billy sends big paw hugs to Miss Pushy cat and P. I hope the vets can help, P big hugs xxx
Theresa W, thank you, much appreciated xxx brain almost on a level and just in time, I hope it sticks for the next 48hrs at least. I'd even take just the next 48hrs if it was a certainty and pay after!!! Big hugs and I hope you're OK too xxx
Bejay, happy belated birthday, hope you had a good time and were spoilt rotten! Big birthday hugs xxx
Alison, how is Scamp? Billy sends paw hugs and big hugs from me xxx
Laine, I got so much hair out of Billy on Monday after he'd dumped a load of it over every piece of furniture and clothing in the house, my garden looked a bit like something dreadful had happened, big clumps of hair scattered over the grass. None left now as the local crows came to collect it for their nests. Love watching those big birds intelligently hopping round the garden picking up bundles of dog hair! Billy sends paw hugs to the pusses and looking forward to Brodie's next naughty antics! Big hugs and hope you're OK.
Lynda, big hugs from me and from Billy dog xxx
Tracy I hope the radiotherapy isn't interfering with your crafting too much and hope you don't feel too ill with it, big hugs xxx
Jan D in Florida, great hint about the Scotch vellum tape. Will look for some on Amazon as I'm never happy when attaching vellum or acetate. Thanks and big hugs xxx
My little sister is here tomorrow for help with her hairdressing competition costume. On Saturday I'm having my eyes tested in the afternoon so I get to see the outside world lol, need my body to play ball in a big way. Back is being naughty too but I don't need that for an eye test, just for sitting up tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck friends... Please! Soon as I'm done here I'm off to bed, not taking any chances so a good 8 hours is the first step. Hoping to find time to visit over these two days and if not and as long as I don't pay for my exertions I'll be back Sunday. Should that not happen I want to wish you all a lovely Easter weekend and I hope you all get lots of chocolate... Or an alternative of your choice :-)
Big hugs to all of you, extra big hugs here should you need them,
Hi Sue. Another of your beautiful cards. Love the ombre effect with the glitters. This one would be a great one for the guys but then you could change the colours for either male or female. Best Wishes. Denise T x

Hi Sue. Great card. Hugs to all xx
ReplyDeleteHi, Sue, Hi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteNow this looks like a VERY interesting card.
The suspense is killing isn't it lol...watch this space, ladies :)
Bejay xx

I love this card and the striplet die.
ReplyDeleteThis die just sings to me but has been the cause of some frustration lol
when I have the money to buy it I find it keeps being out of stock and when I don't have the money
it is back in stock. I will get my hands on it one day.
Today is the first day of hubby's reduncancy so having to really watch what we spend.
Your glitter ombre technique is fasinating. Interesting use of the acetate, too. Thanks for the video which will be very useful in trying the ombre effect.
ReplyDeleteGlitterific! LOVE the ombre glitter look! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHello Sue.
ReplyDeleteLovely Card. I agree with you, it is so pretty. I love the Ombre effect and how you have achieved it. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you have graduated the glitter colours. I can't wait to give it a try.
Regards,
Evis M.
Hi Sue, another beautiful card. Take care, Ivy C x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of my favourite striplets and I love this technique. It is very effective in grey.
ReplyDeleteReally like this striplet and the card is beautiful. Have not had time to watch the video yet but will do so this evening
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, who doesn't like a bit (or lots lol) of glitter? I certainly do and I love this card with its clever shading. I don't have this striplet - one of the few I don't have - but will try this with one of my others.
ReplyDelete'P' in Wales - so sorry for Miss Pushy, is there anything the vets can do to help?
Alison - how did Scamp get on today, is she free?
Bejay - glad your day improved.
Frances
Love this technique Sue, I can't wait until I have sold the house so I can get my glitters out again (I have no idea where they all are at the moment) and have a play. Interestingly, this card looks so dramatic as it looks as though the photos have been taken in black and white!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!
ReplyDeleteThere's not much I don't love about this circular striplet, it's delightfully retro with a modern twist and wonderful for male orientated cards.
What to do? Decided to tackle the ironing as a matter of urgency lest I develop a fur ball when I am in bed at night by inhaling the cat fur:-) it's so nice getting into a clean, crisp bed....I love my little princess sleeping with me but moulting season is a pain, it doesn't matter how much I brush her it comes off her by the handful:-(
I did manage to fit in a little remedial colouring afterwards, thought I'd better start with practicing the basic techniques before I attempt anything ambitious again...I tried to colour the skin of a stamped portrait that I had spent ages colouring the hair on only to completely muck it up with my poor blending skills, I felt useless and rubbish so back to the drawing board...no pun intended:-)
P, I'm so sorry to hear about Miss Pushy, she sounds adorable and being so young it must have come as a terrible shock for you. What caused it and is there anything they can do for her? I sincerely hope so, I'll keep my fingers crossedxxxx
Alison, how did Scamp get on today? Has she been given her freedom again or will the cage stay for a little while longer? She has been so patient and good so she deserves to have the run of the house again, I just hope that she is more careful from now on otherwise it will be you that's having kittens:-)
Theresa, it gladdens my heart that I can help you smile even if it is at my dubious sense of humour:-) You have been through such a lot lately and I find that laughter, though hard at times, can be a great tonic that helps us cope with adversity. Sending you special hugsxxxx
I'm getting very excited about Sues upcoming release and tv shows, in fact I think I'll need double strength Tena Lady for the occasion such is my euphoria and lack of self control:-) I keep checking Icon to see if they are advertising the new launch but no sign as yet, the suspense is killing me.

Gorgeous card Sue!
ReplyDeleteLove the sparkle and bling of the glitter.
Hello Sue,
ReplyDeleteYour Striplet dies always work brilliantly and this one is no exception, it's very different to earlier ones and works so well with your new statement dies. Love it!
Thank you, Love Brenda xxx
What a lovely way to say thank you! Pat x
ReplyDeleteHi Sue & lovely Wilsonettes*** writing from my iPad today & my day has been very hectic indeed so please excuse me if I forget to mention anyone who is going through a difficult or unwell time.
ReplyDeleteSue, I absolutely adore your glitter gradient technique, can't wait to try this myself, it goes perfect with the circles die, I was lucky enough to purchase this a while ago as it was always sold out.
Very interesting card Sue!
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest, when I first saw this striplet die, I really didn't like it (that's a first!). It is absolutely beautiful used in this card! I am shocked that it is so pretty. I guess that is why you are such a beautiful designer..you can envision it. Thanks Sue for showing an easy card! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAn unusual card and an interesting video.

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love it I love it I love it!!!
Big hugs to all of you, extra big hugs here should you need them,
T x
